Dec 2 1:30am ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers looked like he was going to be in for another long day when he threw a horrendous interception right to a defensive tackle early in Sunday's game, but he got it together and put up a decent showing, even if it was ultimately in a losing effort. Rivers ended up going 20-for-29 for 265 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers loss in Denver, and he played the entire game even though rumors were circulating that he could be benched. Rivers got a lot of help from his receivers as Austin Ekeler turned short passes into huge gains, Mike Williams made a couple phenomenal catches, and Keenan Allen made a leaping, spinning flip into the end zone for a touchdown. Now owners should expect rumors to swirl throughout the next few weeks as the question is how LA will deal with their 37-year-old pending free agent quarterback when there is no hope for the playoffs.

Dec 2 12:33am ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 20 of 29 passes for 265 yards, two touchdowns and an interception against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Fantasy Spin: If you believed the reports, Rivers might have been playing for his job in Week 13. It was definitely a better performance than what we've seen out of him recently, but at the end of the day the team lost to a guy making his first career start. It'd be surprising if Rivers doesn't get the nod next Sunday, but he'd likely play a secondary role against a Jags defense that has forgotten how to stop the run.

From TheHuddle

Dec 1 12:30pm ET

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller (knee), who is considered 50-50 for Week 13 against the Chargers, is trending in the right direction to play, according to a source. Miller has played through injuries before and has a positive outlook. The former Super Bowl MVP has a total of 35 tackles and six sacks on the season. His absence would be a big loss to Denver's overall defense, and it'd be a nice upgrade for Philip Rivers' matchup as he looks to bust out of a major slump.

Dec 1 12:00pm ET

The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly considering benching quarterback Philip Rivers if he continues his current level of play. With a solid backup quarterback waiting in the wings in Tyrod Taylor, the Chargers could choose to see if Taylor's got what it takes to be the team's 2020 starter. Taylor's done a good job during his career when it comes to not throwing interceptions, including leading the NFL in lowest interception percentage in 2017. He's also added solid rushing numbers in each of his full-time seasons. It's hard to trust him in re-draft if he gets the job, but he does have higher upside than Rivers right now.

Dec 1 10:13am ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers could be in danger of being benched in favor of QB Tyrod Taylor if he has another poor performance in Week 13's game against the Denver Broncos, according to multiple sources. In the team's last two games (both losses), he has thrown seven interceptions and been sacked seven times.

Fantasy Spin: At this point in his career, Rivers (who will turn 38 next Sunday) should be regarded as a QB2 in most fantasy formats. He has thrown 15 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions through his first 11 games this year and could wind up on the bench if the Chargers fall out of playoff contention.

From TheHuddle

Nov 30 1:30pm ET

Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller (knee), who is questionable for Week 13 against the Chargers, is "truly 50-50" to play on Sunday, according to head coach Vic Fangio. The good news is that Miller practiced on Friday in a limited fashion after sitting out on Wednesday and Thursday. Miller last missed a regular season game in 2013. Losing Miller for this divisional contest would be a big blow to a Broncos Defense that will be looking to slow down the Bolts for the second time this year. LA quarterback Philip Rivers would get a slight boost if Miller is ruled inactive on Sunday, but he's still more of a QB2 for fantasy owners with the way he's been playing of late.

Nov 29 2:30pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers will be going up against another stout defense on Sunday when he faces the Broncos for the second time this season. Rivers struggled badly in their first meeting, throwing two interceptions and zero touchdowns while averaging just 4.4 yards per completion. This time around figures to be another daunting challenge. While defensive star Von Miller is considered questionable, cornerback Chris Harris Jr. will be on the field and shadowing star receiver Keenan Allen once again. Harris dominated their first matchup, so it's likely that Rivers will have to go elsewhere for yards. Since he's thrown seven interceptions in the last two weeks, it doesn't look promising for him against Denver.

From RotoBaller

Nov 19 2:10am ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers put up a couple of nice numbers on Monday night as he completed 28 passes for 353 yards and a touchdown, but he also only completed 53.9% of the passes he threw and tossed four interceptions including a game-ending pick in the end zone. Rivers has now moved into sole possession of second place in the league in interceptions with 14, and he's only posted a QB rating over 85 in two of his last seven games. He still has the ability to sling it on occasion, but for the most part, it looks like time has caught up to Rivers. He just can't make the throws anymore, and his decision-making hasn't accepted that fact yet.

From RotoBaller

Nov 16 1:10pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers struggled mightily against the poor Raiders secondary last Thursday night, but he'll get the chance to avenge that performance against a mediocre Chiefs secondary on Monday Night Football. Kansas City has allowed the 10th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this year, and Rivers should have plenty of opportunities to air it out while playing in high-altitude Mexico City. With Patrick Mahomes facing off against him on the other side, expect Rivers to need a good game through the air for LA to win. Hopefully, he can look more composed than he did in Oakland.

From RotoBaller

Nov 8 1:20am ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers only completed 54.8% of his passes in the team's loss on Thursday night, his worst completion percentage of the season. Rivers also threw three interceptions and had a fourth one overturned because of an offsides penalty on the defense. The night culminated in a failed last-minute drive where Rivers threw seven straight incomplete passes before being picked off to end the game. It was should have been one of his easiest matchups of the season, Rivers instead finished the night with his worst passer rating of the year. A terrible week, but hopefully, he'll be able to shake it off next game.

From RotoBaller

Nov 8 12:23am ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 17 of 31 passes for 207 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions during the team's loss to the Oakland Raiders on Thursday, Nov. 7. He was also sacked five times.

Fantasy Spin: Rivers had his moments Thursday, including engineering the go-ahead TD drive in the fourth, but he followed that by authoring one of the worst two-minute "drives" in NFL history, throwing seven consecutive incompletions, none of which were particularly close to the intended receiver, and putting the capper on it with his third pick of the evening. The veteran will have a long time to think about this one, as the Chargers next game is against the Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 11.

From TheHuddle

Nov 7 11:30pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Russell Okung (groin) suffered a groin injury on Thursday night against the Raiders and didn't return in the second half. Okung had just recently returned from blood clots, so this is just another setback for the team's starting left tackle. If he's forced to miss additional time, it'll be bad news for an offensive line that has struggled to protect quarterback Philip Rivers consistently. The good news is that the Bolts have their bye coming up in Week 12.

From RotoBaller

Nov 7 3:20pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had a quiet game on Sunday where he connected on 75% of his passes but failed to throw a touchdown. That should change on Thursday night when he visits Oakland. The Raiders Defense has allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in the entire league, and they've actually been worse than that over the last four weeks, surrendering over 10% more fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks than the next worst team in the league. Rivers will be fully armed with his complement of receivers, and fantasy owners should expect a big night from him in primetime.

From RotoBaller

Nov 4 2:30am ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers completed 75% of his passes for 294 yards on Sunday as the team outclassed the Green Bay Packers in all facets of the game. That said, Rivers was held without a single passing touchdown or interception, instead watching all the glory get spread out to his running backs, his defense, and even his kicker. It wasn't a flashy performance. Instead, Rivers focused on playing it safe, taking no risks, and hitting short passes that allowed his playmakers to break free, such as when Mike Williams took a 3-yard pass for 53 more yards down the sideline. Gunslinging Rivers is better for fantasy, but game managing Rivers just beat a heavy favorite.

From RotoBaller

Nov 1 7:30pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has a midrange matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. Rivers has been midrange himself as he ranks 15th at the position in fantasy points the last five weeks. His weapons are relatively healthy, and there's no reason that Rivers can't succeed in the matchup. He just hasn't played well enough to warrant the low-end QB1 label. Treat Rivers as a great QB2 this week.

From RotoBaller

Oct 28 12:10pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers struggled to have an impact on the team's narrow victory over the Chicago Bears. Rivers ended the game having completed 19 of his 29 attempts for 201 yards and a touchdown, along with one interception. Rivers should have had a better fantasy performance, but receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen both dropped touchdown passes. The Chargers quarterback also threw another interception in the game, his seventh this season. Rivers has struggled with turnovers this season, and a matchup against the Green Bay Packers should be another tough test. However, despite that Rivers is still a serviceable option for fantasy owners, with the Chargers being one of the leading teams in pass attempts this season.

From RotoBaller

Oct 27 4:23pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 19-of-29 passes for 201 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Spin: Rivers didn't do much against a sturdy Bears defense, but the Chargers were able to hang on for one of those close games they have been involved in this season rather than lose it. He'll look for better results in Week 9 against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. He should be treated more as a QB2 at this point in most fantasy leagues, however.

From TheHuddle

Oct 27 10:10am ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is a borderline streaming option for his matchup against the Chicago Bears. Rivers is likely to welcome his starting left tackle Russell Okung (heart) back for the first time this season, and crucially the Chicago Bears Defense isn't the same without defensive tackle Akiem Hicks. However, the Bears have still only given up an average of just 16.0 points per game to the position. That level of performance against quarterbacks this season means that Rivers isn't an automatic starter. With Rivers likely to be asked to get the offense moving through the air, he should be considered a borderline QB1 this week.

From RotoBaller

Oct 23 5:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Russell Okung (heart) will play in Week 8 against the Bears, according to head coach Anthony Lynn. Okung has been out all year while recovering from a pulmonary embolism caused by blood clots. He returned to practice last week. Okung will be available this Sunday, but Lynn cautioned that he won't play the entire game. Quarterback Philip Rivers will take it, as injuries have once again decimated the team's offensive line in 2019. The Chargers will need their offensive line to be at their best against a strong Bears defensive front.

From RotoBaller

Oct 21 12:10pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers completed 24 of his 38 passes for 329 yards and two touchdowns during a 23-20 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 7. Rivers has now thrown for over 300 yards in a game five times this season and has also had five games with multiple passing touchdowns. Despite the notable production, Rivers is a tough fantasy asset to trust in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. He is only an option in two-quarterback leagues for that contest.
