Oakland Raiders RB Doug Martin (shoulder) was released from the Reserve/Injured list on Tuesday, Sept. 3, after reaching an injury settlement with the club. DE Alex Barrett (undisclosed) was also let go from IR with a settlement.

Sep 3 8:00pm ET

The Oakland Raiders have parted ways with veteran running back Doug Martin after reaching an injury settlement. The team placed the 30-year-old on the IR last week with a shoulder issue but have ultimately decided to move on with Deandre Washington playing well enough in the preseason to handle the backup role. Martin could latch on to another squad midseason, but likely won't hold much fantasy value unless he takes over a starting role somewhere. Washington remains a handcuff and has no standalone value unless Josh Jacobs were to go down with an injury.

Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Doug Martin (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list because of a shoulder injury, according to head coach Jon Gruden.

Oakland Raiders RB Doug Martin (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Sunday, Aug. 25. The move, however, is a precursor to an injury settlement, which will make him an unrestricted free agent. The injury is not believed to be serious.

Fantasy Spin: Martin, provided this injury truly isn't significant, will have a late chance to catch on with another team. His fantasy value remains low due to injuries and diminished skills. That said, Houston, here he comes???

The Oakland Raiders have released running back Doug Martin Sunday and are going with Deandre Washington and Jalen Richard as backups to Josh Jacobs. Martin had just two carries in preseason game action while Washington made a strong case for himself shining in the team's first two exhibition games. Martin will likely find a new job, as the Texans are in desperate need for a running back, but other teams could benefit from the services of the veteran. Jacobs will get a slight fantasy boost as Martin was thought of to get goal-line work, but it appears that will now fall on the shoulders of the first-round rookie. Washington and Richard are purely handcuffs and have no standalone fantasy value.

Aug 17 7:10pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Doug Martin is slated for a backup role with the Silver and Black this season after leading the team in rushing in 2018. The "Muscle Hamster" racked up an underwhelming 723 yards and four touchdowns last season and will play second fiddle behind rookie Josh Jacobs in 2019. Martin didn't hold much fantasy value as a starter a year ago and is off the radar this campaign in a backup role. With Jalen Richard finding work in the passing game, it would take a significant injury from Jacobs to give Martin any sort of fantasy relevance. He's a late-round handcuff in best-ball leagues and can be avoided in season-long formats.

Aug 2 9:13pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Doug Martin is off to a strong start in training camp, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

Fantasy Spin: Martin may have a little tread left on the tires, but with first-round pick Josh Jacobs expected to lead the Oakland backfield, Martin is no more than a fantasy handcuff.

From TheHuddle

Jun 28 3:03am ET

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs is expected to be the team's primary back this season and see most of the opportunities on first and second down, in the opinion of NBC Sports Bay Area's Scott Bair, who writes that RB Doug Martin will be primarily used as injury protection rather than to spell Jacobs during games. RB Jalen Richard is expected to see opportunities on third down.

Fantasy Spin: Bair throws out 1,500 yards as "certainly possible" and 1,000 total yards as something that "should be a certainty" for Jacobs, though he raises questions about the rookie's ability to hold up to the type of high usage he wasn't asked to shoulder at Alabama. Jacobs is an RB2 for now, but don't be surprised if his name starts moving up drafts the closer we get to Week 1.

May 2 3:20pm ET

The Oakland Raiders re-signed running back Doug Martin to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Steve Wyche. This comes a day after Isaiah Crowell tore his Achilles during a workout on Tuesday. He will likely miss the entire 2019 season. Martin had a fumbling issue in 2018 but otherwise was decent, running 172 times for 723 yards and four touchdowns. Rookie Josh Jacobs, who was taken No. 24 overall in the first round, is expected to see the majority of carries on early downs, but Martin will be a veteran presence to help him out. Along with Bears rookie David Montgomery, Jacobs profiles as one of the better rookie running back targets in redraft leagues in 2019.

From RotoBaller

May 1 3:23pm ET

Free-agent RB Doug Martin (Raiders) agreed to terms with the Oakland Raiders Wednesday, May 1, according to sources. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Fantasy Spin: Martin likely will serve as the No. 2 running back for the Raiders with Isaiah Crowell out for the season. He probably will receive a handful of carries during games but can be avoided in fantasy leagues.
