2024 RTSports Outlook

Metcalf was expected to see a dip in production without Russell Wilson throwing him passes last year. That was not the case, though, with Geno Smith emerging as a top quarterback. Metcalf had his second 1,000-yard season as a pro and was 15th overall in fantasy receiver scoring. He had double-digit fantasy points all but six games. He was pretty consistent once again, having a career-high 90 receptions. He also had a career-best 141 targets, which is another great sign. Metcalf will continue to be a huge part of the Seahawks passing game and is in the prime of his career. Metcalf is a big, strong receiver with speed, making him a very tough cover. He will drop some passes (26 in four seasons), though, and his route running isn't that of some of the other elite receivers. Regardless, Metcalf is a big-time talent and can make plays all over the field because of his abilities.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Metcalf is capable of being a top-10 fantasy receiver, especially if his touchdown numbers improve. Last season broke a streak of two straight seasons with double-digit scores. Take him as a low-end No. 1 or top No. 2 fantasy receiver. He can get around 90 receptions for 1,200 yards and double-digit scores.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf saw a team-high six targets in Week 18 but had just one catch for 10 yards in Sunday's win, making it his least productive game of the year. Most of the balls that went Metcalf's way were well off-target as quarterback Geno Smith was under intense pressure and hurrying throws for most of the game. Metcalf was denied two additional receptions as well. The first was denied by a pass interference penalty that Seattle accepted to gain a first down and the other was overturned upon official review. It was a disappointing end to the season for Metcalf, who had just two top-12 finishes in 2023. Despite the down year, he still had his third 1,000-yard season in his five-year career, ending with 66 catches for 1,114 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Metcalf, under contract through 2025, will return to Seattle next season as their top receiving threat.

Jan 6 6:00am ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf had his third 100-yard game of the season last Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching five of eight targets for 106 yards. The yardage carried him across the 1,000-yard mark for the year, giving him his third such season in his five-year career. In Week 18, Metcalf and the Seahawks are in a must-win situation to make the playoffs when they take on the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona has not allowed much production to wide receivers in 2023, but that is likely a symptom of being the worst run defense in the league. The Cardinals' frequent use of zone coverage could benefit Metcalf though. The last time Seattle played a team that utilized the scheme as much as Arizona was Week 11 against the Los Angeles Rams, and Metcalf came out of that game with five catches for 94 yards and a touchdown. Metcalf is a solid play in the last week of the regular season, though his ceiling might be capped considering that Seattle may opt to go run-heavy.

Jan 1 6:40am ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf led the team in receiving yards in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, gaining 106 yards on five catches. This was Metcalf's third 100-yard game in 15 played this season. The receptions tied him with tight end Noah Fant and running back Zach Charbonnet for the team lead and his eight targets were the most seen by a Seahawk in Week 17. Metcalf was responsible for some big gains in the contest, catching passes for 33, 32, and 21 yards. He also incurred an obvious holding penalty in the third quarter which negated a 24-yard rush by Kenneth Walker III (shoulder). Metcalf was a consistent contributor in fantasy in 2023 but rarely delivered on the high expectations commanded by his role and skillset. The Seahawks play the Arizona Cardinals next, where Metcalf will likely put up another WR2/3 finish for fantasy managers playing on through Week 18.

Dec 31 2:50pm ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (back) is officially active for Sunday's game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Metcalf missed practice on Thursday and Friday, but he was trending in the right direction as of Sunday morning and has now been confirmed as active. The 26-year-old will continue to operate as Seattle's top wide receiver. His 60 catches, 998 yards, and eight touchdowns this season rank 21st among wide receivers in terms of fantasy points. He should be deployed as a mid-range WR2 option in most leagues.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (back) is expected to play in Sunday's game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers despite being listed as questionable, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Metcalf missed practice on Thursday and Friday, but it appears that he has made enough progress over the last 48 hours to suit up for the Seahawks' penultimate regular-season game. The 26-year-old has 60 catches, 998 yards, and eight touchdowns this season, ranking 21st among wide receivers in terms of fantasy points. He should continue to be deployed as a mid-range WR2 option in most leagues.

Dec 29 9:30pm ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (back) is currently listed as questionable for the Week 17 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite that, head coach Pete Carroll recently said that Metcalf is expected to suit up for this game. It sounds like this is a minor issue, so Metcalf should be fine for Sunday, barring any setbacks. Fantasy managers will have to check back later this weekend for another update on his status. For now, Metcalf can be plugged back into lineups as a WR3 for this weekend.

Dec 29 5:00pm ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (back) is officially questionable to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The injury popped up during practice this week, creating real uncertainty about his status for this weekend's contest. The Seahawks have not yet disclosed whether he practiced Friday, but it certainly appears that the star wideout is trending in the wrong direction. Metcalf could be a true game-time decision, in which case his status would be in limbo until the official list of inactives is released 90 minutes prior to kickoff. If Metcalf is inactive, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba would both have larger roles, bumping them into the WR3 tier for fantasy football.

Dec 28 8:00pm ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (back) was added to the Week 17 injury report on Thursday after he was unable to practice due to a new back injury. Receiver Dee Eskridge (ribs) also missed practice for the second straight day. Fantasy managers are going to need to keep a close eye on Metcalf's status heading into Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, as midweek injuries can often be problematic. Whether Metcalf can return to practice on Friday could go a long way into determining whether he'll be able to suit up in Week 17. If the 26-year-old is forced to miss this weekend's game, rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba (knee) would have much more upside alongside Tyler Lockett as Seattle's top two wideouts. Stay tuned for more information on Metcalf's status on Friday.

Dec 24 8:30pm ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf scored his eighth touchdown of the season in Sunday's win over the Tennessee Titans. Metcalf saw six targets in Week 16, catching four passes for 56 yards and the score. Seattle's use of their top receiver once again had fantasy managers wringing their hands. Metcalf had just one target in each of the first three quarters and his trip to the end zone salvaged what would have been a true dud in the fantasy semifinal round. Tyler Lockett and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba are vying for Geno Smith's attention making it hard to judge who will emerge as the top option in a given week. Metcalf still operates as the number one target in the red zone, though, making him a weekly threat to score a touchdown and that will keep him in the WR2 mix in Week 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dec 23 5:00am ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf caught three passes for 58 yards to help set up the game-winning touchdown in Monday's surprise win over the Philadelphia Eagles. His involvement salvaged his game from a fantasy perspective, finishing with five catches and 78 yards. On Sunday, the Seahawks take on the Tennessee Titans who have allowed the second-most receptions and sixth-most yards to wide receivers in 2023. After two weeks of running routes with Drew Lock under center, quarterback Geno Smith (groin) is off the injury report and expected to start in Week 16, bolstering Metcalf's chances of a big week. The 6-foot-4 receiver will also enjoy a healthy size advantage over the Titans' diminutive cornerbacks as he looks to reach the end zone for the eighth time this year. With a healthy quarterback and a plus matchup, Metcalf looks like a high-end WR2 capable of pushing his way into the top tier.

Dec 19 5:30am ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf had a disappointing fantasy performance against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. He finished with a modest five catches for 78 yards, both team highs in the Seahawks' 20-17 win. Coming into Week 15, the Eagles had allowed the most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers but with Drew Lock relieving the ailing Geno Smith (groin) for the second consecutive week, Seattle ran a more conservative passing attack. Metcalf was thrown to just three times in the first half, making one catch, drawing a pass interference flag, and dropping a ball so underthrown he was lucky to get a hand on it. He was a key figure in Seattle's final drive, though, catching three passes that resulted in first downs including a 34-yard bomb while in double coverage. In Week 16, Metcalf will try to do better against the Tennessee Titans, who have allowed the second-most receptions to wide receivers this season.

Dec 17 5:10am ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf caught a touchdown pass from backup quarterback Drew Lock in Week 14 but had just one other catch in the game for a total of 52 yards. Stymied for the second time in three weeks by the San Francisco 49ers, Metcalf's frustrations boiled over late in the fourth quarter and he was ejected after getting a little too rough with linebacker Fred Warner. The passionate wideout is in line for a more productive game on Monday night, when the Seahawks take on the Philadelphia Eagles, who are allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers in 2023. Cornerback Darius Slay (knee) will be out following surgery, so unless James Bradberry slides over to cover Metcalf, it will likely be rookie Kelee Ringo's job to cover the fifth-year veteran. In Week 15, Metcalf is a high-end WR2 whose upside will rest on the availability of quarterback Geno Smith (groin) who is listed as questionable.

Dec 11 4:30pm ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf was held to two catches on five targets in Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers. His receptions went for a total of 51 yards and included a 31-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The score salvaged another otherwise blase day against the 49ers, who limited Metcalf to 3 catches for 32 yards in their last meeting two weeks ago. Frustration spilled over late in the fourth quarter after linebacker Fred Warner intercepted a Drew Lock pass. Following the play, Metcalf held Warner by the facemask for an extended period after the whistle and was hit with a disqualification as a result. In Week 15, the Seahawks will be up against the porous secondary of the Philadelphia Eagles who are allowing the most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. Metcalf's potential in that game is high, though expectations may need to be checked if Drew Lock is asked to step in for Geno Smith (groin) again.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf was held to two catches on five targets in Sunday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers. His receptions went for a total of 51 yards and included a 31-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Metcalf's positive regression continues as he has now found the end zone in three of the Seahawks' last four games. The score salvaged another otherwise blase day against the 49ers, who limited Metcalf to 3 catches for 32 yards in their last meeting two weeks ago. Dec 10 7:20pm ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf had only two catches in Sunday's loss to the 49ers. However, he amassed 52 yards and found the end zone, so fantasy managers still got something out of him in Week 14. The 25-year-old scored his sixth touchdown of the season on Sunday, although Geno Smith's (groin) injury is a cause for concern for fantasy managers. In all fairness, Drew Lock played well enough. Yet, Metcalf, who was ejected late in this game for an incident with Fred Warner, isn't a stable fantasy option in Week 15 versus the Eagles, although he should remain starting in all formats.

From RotoBaller

Dec 9 3:10am ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf turned in his best performance of this season in Week 13, catching six of his eight targets for 134 yards and three touchdowns. His production came as something of a surprise against a dominant Dallas Cowboys defense and lends hope to a better turnout against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14 after they held him to just three catches for 32 yards on Thanksgiving. San Francisco's tough defense may not be the only obstacle blocking Metcalf from another great day on Sunday. Quarterback Geno Smith (groin) popped up on the team's injury report and is questionable for the divisional matchup. If Drew Lock draws the start then Metcalf would still have WR2 potential, though his upside would be stunted and expectations should be set to the lower end of that tier.

Dec 2 8:15pm ET

Seahawks' WR D.K. Metcalf scored an impressive 37.40 fantasy points in Thursday's Week 13 loss in Dallas. Metcalf caught six passes for 134 yards with three touchdowns. It's the 1st time this season Metcalf scored at least 25 fantasy points in a game.

Dec 2 3:30pm ET

Seattle's WR D.K. Metcalf had 6 receptions for 134 yards with three touchdowns for an outstanding 22.3 yards per catch in Thursday's loss in Dallas.

Dec 1 4:10am ET

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf caught six of his eight targets for 134 yards and three touchdowns in Thursday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The scores doubled his season output and all of them came when he was marked by top-graded cornerback DaRon Bland. The first touchdown was an impressive catch-and-run on Seattle's fourth play of the game when Metcalf beat his coverage over the middle and turned on the jets, taking the ball 73 yards to the end zone making it the longest play for either side in the contest. After a lackluster start to the season, Metcalf may be heating up just in time for the fantasy playoffs, garnering 94 yards or more in three of his last four games. Next on deck is a rematch against the San Francisco 49ers who held Metcalf to three catches for 32 yards on Thanksgiving.
