2024 RTSports Outlook

Johnson served a depth role for the Jets last year and had 248 total yards in 17 games. He did average an impressive 5.3 yards per carry, but didn't do a whole lot out side of that. He will try to earn another depth role this coming year. He has some potential in that role, having 350-plus total yards all but last season. Johnson can serve the change-of-pace role well. He has top speed. Johnson can get to the next level in a hurry and does well in space. He lacks a little power, though, and does not do that great after contact. He catches the ball pretty well and can be an asset in the passing game.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Johnson might get some total yards but is not likely to make much of a fantasy impact. He could get around 300 total yards and 15 receptions.

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (concussion) was limited again in practice on Thursday for the second straight day this week. Johnson is recovering after suffering a concussion in the Week 18 win over the Miami Dolphins, but he has yet to clear the league's concussion protocol and still may not be able to play this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the playoffs. Even if the 26-year-old RB is cleared to play on wild-card weekend, he won't be much of a fantasy consideration for DFS lineups while splitting touches with Latavius Murray behind lead back James Cook. Johnson saw only 30 carries all season for 132 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that running back Ty Johnson (concussion) will be limited in the team's walkthrough practice on Wednesday. Johnson suffered a concussion in Sunday night's big divisional win over the Miami Dolphins to close out the regular season and will now have to work himself through the league's concussion protocol before being cleared to play this Sunday in the wild-card playoff contest against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers. It's a good sign the 26-year-old is limited, but it doesn't mean he'll be active this weekend to serve as RB depth behind James Cook. If active, Johnson has very limited DFS appeal as a change-of-pace option alongside Latavius Murray. Johnson had only 30 carries all year for 132 rushing yards while adding seven catches for 62 yards and a touchdown in 10 games in 2023.

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (head) suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit and had to leave the game on Sunday night. He's currently being evaluated for any concussion-like symptoms along with other precautions. After getting near the goalline, Johnson put his head down and was hit by the Miami Dolphins defender who also went low and made helmet-to-helmet contact. He wasn't seen on the sidelines for some time afterward. Johnson had one carry for five yards and one catch for nine yards on one target before leaving the game. The Bills still have James Cook and Leonard Fournette to lean on, but Johnson's injury will be something to monitor, especially if the Bills end up winning the second seed.

For the second straight day this week, Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (shoulder) was limited in practice on Thursday. Johnson could be deemed questionable for the Week 17 game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, but he at least has a chance to return to the fold after sitting out of last Saturday's victory over the Los Angeles Chargers due to his shoulder injury. Even if the 26-year-old manages to play this weekend, he's not a realistic starting fantasy option while working behind James Cook and Latavius Murray. Johnson had a season-high nine carries for 54 yards in his last game, but most of that work came in a blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15. He has only 24 rushing attempts in eight games in 2023, picking up 105 yards and no touchdowns while adding six receptions for 53 yards and one touchdown.

Dec 27 9:10pm ET

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (shoulder) got in a limited practice on Wednesday as his team prepares to take on the New England Patriots in Week 17. Johnson missed Week 16's matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers with the same injury but his ability to practice on a limited basis on Wednesday is a positive sign heading into Week 17. If Johnson is forced to miss another game, Leonard Fournette would likely be active for the second time this season.

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (shoulder) was limited in practice all week and is officially listed as questionable to play on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16. Johnson injured his shoulder in the Week 15 blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys and now might have to miss a game. The 26-year-old has only been worth stashing on the bench in deep fantasy leagues if you have James Cook rostered. He had a season-high nine carries in last week's blowout, picking up 54 yards on the ground while catching his only target for a four-yard gain. Johnson has only 24 carries all year for 105 yards, adding six catches for 53 yards and one touchdown. If he's out, veteran Latavius Murray will see more touches behind Cook in an excellent matchup against the Bolts.

Dec 20 12:30am ET

Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson (shoulder) was a limited participant in Tuesday's estimated practice. The Bills didn't actually hold a practice to start the week, so Johnson's limited rep is just an estimate. But the 26-year-old did briefly exit last week's game with a shoulder issue, and it appears to still be bothering him. He'll have a couple more practices to upgrade his status before Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Johnson played a season-high 29% of the team's offensive snaps in Week 15 and seems to be the new RB2 in Buffalo. However, he doesn't carry much fantasy value this weekend.
