2020 RTSports Outlook

Prescott had a career year, finishing second overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. He threw for nearly 5,000 yards and had 33 total touchdowns to 11 interceptions. Prescott had 11 multiple touchdown games, posting consistent numbers throughout the season. He also had seven 300-yard games. He gets a new coach this year, Mike McCarthy, which could change things for him some going forward. The good news is Aaron Rodgers had his best seasons with McCarthy at the helm. He is a quarterback friendly coach that should get the best out of Prescott. Prescott has 28 or more touchdowns three straight seasons. Prescott is an accurate quarterback that makes great decisions. He does a good job of taking care of the football but isn't afraid to take chances down the field. He also can make plays with his legs, rushing for more than 1,200 yards while scoring six rushing touchdowns each of his first three seasons in the NFL.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Prescott has moved into the elite company of fantasy quarterbacks, especially after the hire of McCarthy. Plus, he has two great receivers to work with in the passing game and a top offensive line. Things are looking good for Prescott to enjoy another big season. Expect around 4,500-passing yards, 35 total touchdowns and around 300-rushing yards. He should be one of the first quarterbacks off the board come draft day.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has been a good fantasy quarterback for a few years now, but 2020 should be his chance to jump into the elite tier. He had some flashes of elite quarterback play in 2019, but inefficiency in the passing game kept him from consistently strong performances. His running ability raises his floor and does help his ceiling a bit as well. With CeeDee Lamb joining Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and Ezekiel Elliott on the Cowboys offense, Prescott has almost an embarrassment of riches in terms of weapons to play with. There are some rumblings that Prescott hasn't been thrilled with the Cowboys regarding contract extension talks, but the prevailing thought is that it will all be worked out and Prescott will be a Cowboy for a long time. He's one of the better quarterback options in most fantasy formats thanks to his considerable upside paired with a high floor.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott completed 16 passes of at least 40 yards during the 2019 season, which led the league in the category.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott is still waiting for a long-term contract but will be the starting quarterback for at least the 2020 season. He will have one of the top receiving corps to work with this upcoming season and should be considered a No. 1 quarterback in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jun 23 4:13pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is just the seventh quarterback ever with at least 90 touchdown passes and 20 rushing touchdowns over a four-season span. He is the first QB to accomplish the feat in his first four seasons. He has 97 career touchdown passes and 21 rushing TDs.

Fantasy Spin: The production on the ground may not be sustainable as Prescott is paired with RB Ezekiel Elliott, who handles the bulk of all rushing work when healthy and active. The passing production should continue to rise, however, following the selection of WR CeeDee Lamb in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He joins WRs Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup and gives Prescott one of the best supporting casts in the NFL for the foreseeable future.

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott signed the exclusive franchise tag, which was worth $31.4 million. The sides have until July 15 to sign a long-term deal.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott elevated to a top-five fantasy quarterback last season and should stand firm in that range.

From TheHuddle

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has thrown for 24 touchdowns outside the red zone since 2018 - the second-highest total by any quarterback in the league over that span.

From TheHuddle

Jun 22 4:40pm ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has officially signed the franchise tag, committing to stay a Cowboy for at least the 2020 season. Dak and the Cowboys will have until July 15th to work out a long-term deal, but the franchise tag at least ensures that the Dallas signal caller will report to training camp and other preseason activities on time. The tag will pay Prescott $31.4 million this season, but both sides are reportedly looking to agree on something long-term sooner than later. We know little about what the 2020 NFL season will look like, but one thing we know now is that Prescott will be the one under center whenever Week 1 comes around.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott officially signed his one-year tender offer Monday, June 22. Official financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Spin: Prescott will be the starting quarterback in Dallas for at least one more season but does have three weeks to agree to a long-term deal. He should be a No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Jun 22 3:33pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is still looking for a four-year contract extension, while the Cowboys would prefer to give Prescott a five-year contract, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: The Cowboys have about three weeks to reach a long-term agreement with Prescott, and the two sides to not appear to be close to a deal at this point. Prescott will be the start for at least the 2020 season and should be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

Jun 22 1:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott signed his franchise tender, but is still seeking a long-term contract before the July 15 deadline. According to Pro Football Talk, the disagreement comes done to the length of the contract with Prescott seeking a four-year deal and the Cowboys insisting on a five-year deal. The franchise tag will pay Prescott $31.4 million in 2020 but both sides have stated all along they would like to come to an agreement to keep Prescott in Dallas long-term. Prescott was one of the best quarterbacks in fantasy last season throwing for over 4,900 yards and 30 touchdowns and will enter 2020 as a top-three option at the position.

Jun 21 4:20pm ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott plans to sign his franchise tag by Monday, according to Adam Schefter. The tag would pay Prescott $31.4 million this season, and require the quarterback to report to training camp even if the teams can't agree on a long-term contract extension by the July 15 deadline. This all-but-assures Prescott will be under center for Dallas this season despite the team signing former Bengals starter Andy Dalton as insurance. Prescott was second in the NFL with 4,902 yards last season and enters 2020 as a top-three option at quarterback with some of the best weapons in the game at his disposal.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is not close to an agreement on a long-term contract with the Cowboys at this point, according to sources. Prescott does plan to sign his one-year tender.

Fantasy Spin: The two sides have a little less than a month to reach a long-term agreement, so fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation. Prescott will be the starting quarterback for the Cowboys in 2020 and should be a No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Jun 6 12:23pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott topped all quarterbacks with 392 air yards lost on dropped passes in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus data.

Fantasy Spin: These things tend to regress to the mean the ensuing season. Regardless, Prescott still finished as fantasy's No. 2 quarterback, and his receiving corps has only gotten better this offseason. Now, about that pesky contract ...

From TheHuddle

Jun 5 2:30pm ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott completed exactly the amount of pressured passes as was expected in 2019, but he also attempted the third-most pressured passes (144) of anyone on NFL.com's Nick Shook's list of top-10 QBs under pressure. He's also one of just two passers on the list to break 1,000 passing yards under pressure. Prescott's 7:3 touchdown-to-interception ratio while under pressure looks pretty good. The young passer is tied with Philip Rivers for the fourth-most TD passes completed under pressure since 2016, with 19. He also has the highest single-season completion percentage above expectation under pressure in a single season since 2016. With or without a long-term contract extension in Dallas this summer, Prescott will likely be the third QB off the board in fantasy drafts behind Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.

Jun 2 12:00pm ET

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott tops NFL.com's Nick Shook's list of the top-10 deep passers from the 2019 season. Prescott relied mostly on wide receiver Amari Cooper, who was efficient on deep targets by catching 12 passes for 386 yards and two touchdowns on passes 20-plus yards downfield. Prescott had a completion percentage of 44.4 percent and an expected completion percentage of 31 percent on deep throws, with a TD-to-interception ratio of 6:2 and a passer rating of 109.7. Now that rookie wideout CeeDee Lamb is in the mix, he has some of the best surrounding offensive weapons in the league. Prescott had a career year in 2019 despite not making the playoffs and could be even better in 2020. He's coming off the board as the No. 3 fantasy QB behind Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.

From RotoBaller

Jun 1 11:10pm ET

While opposing defenses often pressed Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper at the line of scrimmage last year, he had an average of 2.6 yards of separation by the time the ball arrived. He also had a tight-window percentage of 25.2, but for the most part, Cooper was able to successful beat press coverage. Quarterback Dak Prescott had a 114.4 passer rating when targeting his top receiver, and Cooper had a 23.8 percent average of targets per routes run in Dallas' offense. Cooper had a catch rate of 66.4 percent and an expected catch rate of 57.8 percent. It will be interesting to see how the addition of rookie CeeDee Lamb will affect Cooper's efficiency and target share in 2020. The 25-year-old should be considered a low-end WR1 target in fantasy drafts.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has not yet signed the franchise tender as he seeks a long-term deal from the team. History suggests the sides will come together before the July 15 deadline or Prescott may not be with Dallas beyond this season. Since the franchise tag was introduced in 1993, only eight quarterbacks have been tagged and all but two, Drew Brees in 2005 and Kirk Cousins in 2018, got extensions prior to the season. Prescott is coming off the best season of his four-year career throwing for 4,902 yards and 30 touchdowns. He enters fantasy draft season as a top-three option at quarterback in fantasy.

From RotoBaller

May 30 1:03pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has yet to sign his exclusive franchise tag and has not been participating in the team's virtual offseason workout program. But head coach Mike McCarthy says he has little concern about Prescott. 'He's involved in a business situation and I have full confidence that he'll be ready to go,' McCarthy said on a recent media conference call. '... There has been communication. I mean this is the way these business situations go sometimes. You respect that. I have all the confidence it will work out.'

Fantasy Spin: The first key deadline is July 15 -- the date when Prescott must sign his franchise tag if he doesn't have a new contract in place. If you're drafting before then, he remains a solid top-five fantasy QB option.

From TheHuddle

May 27 10:43pm ET

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott was accurate on only 60.9 percent of his throws with three receivers running a route in 2019. However, that mark increased to 81.8 percent when he had four pass-catchers available to him and 79.3 percent with five receivers running a route.

From TheHuddle

May 27 5:10pm ET

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said that quarterback Dak Prescott has remained in communication with the team despite being in long-term contract negotiations with the front office. "He's involved in a business situation, and I have full confidence he will be ready to go. There has been communication. This is the way these business situations go sometimes, and you respect that," McCarthy said. Prescott has yet to sign his franchise tag, and the two sides still have until July 15 to hammer out an extension. Regardless of whether that comes to pass, Prescott is a top-five QB1 coming off a career season as the Cowboys signal-caller.
