2024 RTSports Outlook

Dell was picked by the Texans in the third round of this year's draft. The Texans have some openings at receiver, so Dell has a chance to play a big role right away. He is a big-play threat at the position. He has game-changing speed and can get to the next level in a hurry. He had a knack for the end zone in college. Dell lacks some size, though, and will struggle with the contested catch. He also will drop some passes.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Dell is likely hit or miss his rookie season. He will be used to stretch the field, but could disappear some weeks. He will be hard for fantasy teams to trust. Look for around 40 receptions for 600 yards and a few scores.

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (leg) continues to recover from a gunshot wound sustained nearly a week ago. The 24-year-old, who was an innocent bystander during the shooting, still has some hurdles to clear, especially after also sustaining a fractured Fibula at the end of last season. However, he's expected to be cleared before training camp, although his status for Week 1 remains uncertain. Yet, if things continue to move positively, there's a good chance he'll be out there when the Texans begin their season. Dell finished the 2023-24 campaign by amassing 709 yards and seven touchdowns off 47 receptions. While fantasy managers are concerned about the injury and the potential for a decrease in production after the team added Stefon Diggs, Dell could still find himself surpassing the 1,000-yard receiving mark in the Texans' high-powered offense.

Dynasty | Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was treated and released with a minor gunshot wound Sunday. Dynasty Analysis: Dynasty managers likely lost their minds when they saw headlines today that said, "Tank Dell has been shot." In the end, Dell was one of up to ten people who were wounded after gunshots were fired at a social gathering. It's a scary situation but one that looks to be free of anything worse. Dell is on his way back from a nasty leg injury from last year and remains a high upside player - this certainly won't change that.

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (leg) suffered a gunshot wound on Sunday morning after a 16-year-old suspect opened fire during a physical altercation at a private event in Sanford, Florida. Dell, who was at the event but not involved, suffered a "minor wound," with the team reporting the wideout is in "good spirits" and has been released from the hospital. Others were injured during the incident. Fortunately, no one suffered life-threatening injuries. As far as the gunman, he was arrested and charged with several crimes, including attempted homicide, before being transported to a juvenile detention facility. The 24-year-old is currently working his way back from a broken leg suffered at the end of last season and should remain on schedule to return for the 2024-25 campaign, barring any setbacks related to the incident.

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (leg) looks to be making great progress on his road to recovery. The 24-year-old is working his way back from a broken fibula, which sidelined him for the final few weeks of the regular season. Dell has reportedly been looking good while working out with his private coach. The second-year wideout is ahead of schedule and is expected to be ready to go at the beginning of OTA workouts. He was limited to 11 games last season but still finished with 47 receptions, 709 yards, and seven touchdowns. The expectation is that he's only going to get better as time goes on.

Feb 19 8:40pm ET

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (leg) is making a sound recovery from a broken fibula in his rookie season and said that he's expecting to be back for organized team activities this spring. The 24-year-old hasn't had any setbacks after having surgery 10 and a half weeks, and he also started doing pool work last month. Barring a setback, Dell should be ready to roll for the start of training camp this summer. The third-round pick amazed in his rookie season in 2023 while working with quarterback C.J. Stroud before breaking his leg, catching 47 of 75 targets for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in his first year in the NFL. Dell has as much upside of any young receiver in the game with Stroud as his QB, and he'll be expensive in fantasy drafts this fall heading into Year 2.

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (ankle) saw his incredible rookie campaign come to a screeching halt due to injury. The good news is, that Dell is expected to be ready for the beginning of OTA training. The young wideout was recently seen doing some light running, which is at least a step in the right direction. He played a key role in the Texans offense during the first half of the season. Dell hauled in 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games. The expectation is that Dell will be fully healthy in time for training camp later this summer.

Feb 7 1:20pm ET

Doctors have been pleased with Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell's (leg) rehab and he has started light pool work as he recovers from surgery for his broken left fibula. Dell took the NFL by storm in his first season while working with impressive rookie first-round quarterback C.J. Stroud in 2023, but his season ended in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos when he broke his leg. In 11 games, the 24-year-old caught 47 of 75 targets for 709 yards and seven touchdowns. The third-round pick will most likely sit out of offseason workouts this spring, but barring a setback, he could be ready to go for training camp this summer and the preseason. Even though Dell didn't play a full season due to injury in 2023, he showed enough in his rookie season with Stroud to give him plenty of fantasy appeal heading into his sophomore campaign.

Dec 5 6:50pm ET

The Houston Texans officially placed rookie wide receiver Tank Dell (leg) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. It's an expected move after the impressive young wideout suffered a season-ending broken left fibula in the Week 13 win over the Denver Broncos. The 24-year-old had surgery on his leg on Monday. There's no telling how much more Dell could have done for the remainder of his first year in the NFL after putting up 47 receptions on 75 targets for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games played. Fantasy managers in redraft formats can obviously move on, but those that have Dell rostered in dynasty/keepers have to be pretty exciting about his long-term upside while paired with quarterback C.J. Stroud, who has been one of the best overall QBs in football in 2023. Nico Collins, Noah Brown and Robert Woods should be lined up in three-wide sets for Houston the rest of the way with Dell out.

Dec 4 5:30pm ET

Houston Texans rookie wide receiver Tank Dell (leg) underwent surgery on Monday for the broken fibula he suffered in the Week 13 win over the Denver Broncos, and head coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed that Dell will miss the rest of the season. It's a big blow to the Texans' offense, as Dell had become one of their top receivers after being taken in the third round earlier this year. The promising 24-year-old pass-catcher will finish his first NFL campaign with 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games played. He added 51 rushing yards on 11 carries. It's a bad ending to his first season, but Dell should maintain plenty of long-term fantasy value with quarterback C.J. Stroud in Houston. With Dell now out, Nico Collins, Noah Brown and veteran Robert Woods should see more targets as the Texans battle for a playoff spot.

Dynasty | Texans wide receiver Tank Dell fractured his fibula in the Texans win against the Broncos. Dynasty Analysis: Dell had his leg rolled up on a goal line touchdown carry by Dameon Pierce early in the game. He stayed down as the rest of the Texans celebrated as the mood in the stadium went from excitement to concern in a hurry. After being carted to the locker room, it was determined he had a broken fibula and X-rays have reportedly confirmed it. He'll be lost for the season and placed on IR as his rookie season will end with 47 catches for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in ten games. It's a massive blow to dynasty managers who were counting on Dell as a WR1 the rest of the way. On the plus side, it's not a torn ACL or Achilles injury that could threaten his availability for the beginning of next season.

Dec 3 4:10pm ET

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (leg) suffered a broken fibula during Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Dell is expected to be placed on injured reserve, making him ineligible to play through Week 17. The 24-year-old departed Week 13 before he could command a target. Through 11 contests this season, the electric rookie totaled 47 catches, 709 yards, and two touchdowns. His loss will hurt the Texans' offense, though they should feel comfortable about their depth chart with Nico Collins and Noah Brown taking over as the top wide receivers.

Dec 3 2:50pm ET

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (ankle) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. He departed in the first half after suffering an awkward injury around the goal line. As it stands, the rookie finishes Week 13 with zero catches and zero targets. Losing Dell, who had 25 catches, 369 yards, and five touchdowns over his last four games, is tough news for the Texans. However, their passing game should continue to survive with Nico Collins and Noah Brown atop the depth chart at wide receiver.

Houston Texans wide receiver (leg) suffered a leg injury during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. Dell had his leg rolled up on during a Dameon Pierce touchdown plunge in the first quarter and needed to be carted off the field. The severity of the injury is not yet known as Dell is likely undergoing more tests at the moment. He's most likely done for the day, however, and the team should provide an update on him following the conclusion of Sunday's contest.

Houston Texans wide receivers Tank Dell (calf) and Noah Brown (knee) are active for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. Both players had been listed as questionable. Dell, who has exploded for 25 catches, 369 yards, and five touchdowns over his last five games, was limited on Friday and ranks as a fringe WR1 in fantasy football this week. Meanwhile, Brown hasn't played since Week 10, when he put together a strong two-game stretch with 13 catches, 325 yards, and a score. He's the No. 3 receiver behind Dell and Nico Collins but does have some WR3/FLEX appeal this week, especially with Dalton Schultz (hamstring) out.

Dec 2 6:20pm ET

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (calf) is currently listed as questionable for the Week 13 matchup against the Denver Broncos. Despite that, Dell is expected to play this week, which is great news for the Texans offense. Head coach DeMeco Ryans has expressed confidence that Dell will be able to suit up for this game. The rookie wideout could be in for a big game with tight end Dalton Schultz (hamstring) already ruled out. If active, Dell should be considered a low-end WR1 for this game.

Dec 2 12:20pm ET

Houston Texans rookie wide receiver Tank Dell (calf) said he's going to play against the Denver Broncos in Week 13 on Sunday. "I'm good now," Dell said. The rookie sensation picked up a questionable tag this week after putting in two limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Texans have been confident that the 24-year-old will be able to play after he had scans on his calf following the Week 12 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Dell has been amazing in the last four games, going for 25 catches (43 targets) for 369 yards and five touchdowns, vaulting him into must-start status in fantasy. However, Noah Brown (knee) looks like he could return this weekend, and the Broncos defense has allowed the fewest half-PPR fantasy points to opposing wideouts during their five-game winning streak.

Dec 1 5:30pm ET

Houston Texans wide receivers Tank Dell (calf) and Noah Brown (knee) are both questionable to play on Sunday versus the Denver Broncos. Dell logged a limited practice on Friday while Brown was downgraded to a non-participant. As of now, it appears that the two receivers are going to be game-time decisions this week. Naturally, though, Dell is more likely to play given that he was able to practice on Friday. If active, he'd rank as a high-end WR2 despite a tough matchup versus Denver's talented secondary.

Nov 30 1:40pm ET

Houston Texans rookie wide receiver Tank Dell (calf) has returned to practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday's session, according to a team official. Dell had imaging done on his calf after the Week 12 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, but head coach DeMeco Ryans has been optimistic about Dell heading into a Week 13 clash against the Denver Broncos. Dell and first-rounder C.J. Stroud have formed a strong rookie connection in Houston in 2023, with Dell going for 47 catches, 709 yards and seven touchdowns in 10 games played. Catching 25 passes for 369 yards and five touchdowns in the last four games has made Dell a must-start in fantasy lineups going forward. However, Noah Brown's (knee) potential return this weekend could take away some targets from Dell against a Broncos defense that is suddenly strong.

From RotoBaller

Nov 29 2:10pm ET

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (calf) is not practicing on Wednesday heading into the Week 13 matchup with the Denver Broncos. According to Aaron Wilson KPRC 2 Houston, the dynamic rookie had imaging done on his calf after the Week 12 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. There is no word on whether or not he'll play on Sunday, but this is clearly a situation worth monitoring. Dell has been spectacular this season, posting 47 receptions for 709 yards, and seven touchdowns in 10 games. Dell is the overall WR14 in PPR leagues. He's a clear must-start if active. If he has to miss time, Nico Collins would become a virtual must-start. Noah Brown, Robert Woods, and Dalton Schultz would be candidates for more targets from C.J. Stroud.
