2024 RTSports Outlook

Ferguson had a breakout second season, getting to serve as the starting tight end from day one for the Cowboys. He was ninth overall in fantasy tight end scoring. Ferguson had nine of 17 games with double-digit fantasy points, showing great consistency. He finished with 71 receptions for 761 yards and five touchdowns. He is going to be the starter in this offense for years to come. Ferguson is a solid pass catcher and blocker. He isn't exceptional in any area but more than holds his own. He has plus hands and is a willing blocker. Drops were a bit of an issue for him last year, having five.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Ferguson is a top-10 fantasy tight end. He is a solid starter for fantasy teams, getting consistent work in a good passing game. Look for similar numbers to last year. He can get 75 receptions for 800 yards and five touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

After a relatively slow start to the 2023 season, Jake Ferguson flashed some serious potential in the second half of the season. From Week 8 on, he was the TE7, averaging 11.9 PPR points per game. His route participation increased from 66% before the Cowboys' Week 7 Bye, to 86% after the Bye. For comparison sake, Travis Kelce also had an 86% route participation rate last season. We know Ferguson is going to be utilized as a pass-catching tight end, as evidenced by his utilization in just his second season. In fact, he was 2nd on the team in targets with 102 behind CeeDee Lamb. In the Wild Card game that mattered most for the Cowboys, Ferguson racked up 10 receptions for 93 yards and three touchdowns on 12 targets. He's earned Dak Prescott's trust, and that's imperative for his success going forward. Those three touchdowns don't show up in the fantasy football stat sheet for Ferguson since they happened in the playoffs, but that's indicative of his role on this team. In fact, he led all tight ends with 25 red zone targets in 2023. Sam LaPorta, who had 16 red zone targets last season, ended up scoring five more touchdowns than Ferguson. If the Cowboys' 3rd-year tight earns a few more targets and finds paydirt a few more times in 2024, we could be looking at a Top-5 finish at the position.

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson caught 19 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie in 2022, but he enters the 2024 season as the team's top tight end after catching 71 passes for 761 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. "To me, I think I'm not even scratching my surface," Ferguson said. He has taken part in the Tight End University program led by Greg Olsen, George Kittle and Travis Kelce, and TEs coach Lunda Wells thinks Ferguson can go for 1,000 yards receiving. Ferguson is trying to add a little more bulk to his 252-pound frame this offseason to help him as a blocker. Not only does Ferguson have the skills to continue ascending, but he has great chemistry with quarterback Dak Prescott. There's uncertainty at the No. 3 receiver position behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks in Dallas, too, so Ferguson could take another step forward as a TE1 in 2024.

Jan 16 4:30pm ET

Cowboys' TE Jake Ferguson scored an impressive 37.30 fantasy points in Sunday's playoff loss against the Packers. Ferguson caught 10 passes for 93 yards with three touchdowns. Ferguson scored at least 25 fantasy points one time during the regular season.

Jan 14 11:30pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson scored three times in a Wild Card Weekend loss to the Green Bay Packers. Ferguson was targeted 12 times, making 10 catches for 93 yards and scoring three times. His touchdowns came from 1, 7, and 14 yards out, but it wasn't enough for the Cowboys to make it past the first week of the playoffs. Ferguson turned into a high-floor TE1 this season, and barring unexpected changes on the Dallas offense, he should once again fill that role next season.

Dynasty | Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson had ten catches for 93 yards and three touchdowns in a playoff loss against Green Bay. Dynasty Analysis: The Cowboys were run out of their own building but don't blame Ferguson, who posted the best game of his career. While much of his production can be attributed to a negative game script, Ferguson established himself as a TE1 in dynasty leagues moving forward this season. Dallas is blessed with a number of options but his 71/761/5 line coupled with today's performance should move his ranking into the upper crust of tight ends this off-season. Ferguson ended the regular season as our TE15 but that seems nearly destined to change when the dust settles next month.

Jan 11 1:40pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is a solid option in fantasy for a matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Wild Card Weekend. Ferguson developed into a legitimate fantasy asset this season, showing a high floor and occasional ceiling as well. He was a fantasy TE1 in nine games, finishing up with a TE9 performance in Week 18 after a pair of disappointing games the two weeks prior. He should maintain a high floor in the playoffs and has some touchdown upside in the first round.

Jan 8 1:20am ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson made six catches in a Week 18 win over the Washington Commanders. Ferguson was targeted six times, making a catch on all six for 69 yards total. It was another strong floor game for Ferguson, who was consistently able to put up solid fantasy performances even in games where he did not find the end zone. Ferguson and the Cowboys will face the Green Bay Packers in Dallas next weekend for the first round of the NFL playoffs.

From RotoBaller

Jan 4 7:30pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson has a strong matchup in a Week 18 game against the Washington Commanders. Ferguson has had a strong season, essentially working as the second option in the passing game behind All-World wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Ferguson has seen at least six targets in five games in a row and should be in for another target-heavy contest to wrap up the regular season. Ferguson is a mid-range TE1 with a strong floor.

Dec 31 5:30am ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson made four catches in a Week 17 win over the Detroit Lions. Ferguson was targeted six times, making the four catches for 33 yards with a long gain of nine. It was a floor game for Ferguson, who has developed into a weekly TE1 in this Cowboys offense, but there just wasn't much there for Cowboys pass catchers tonight behind CeeDee Lamb's 227 yards. Ferguson and the Cowboys will wrap up their regular season schedule in Week 18 against the Washington Commanders.

From RotoBaller

Dec 28 7:30pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is a solid fantasy option in a Week 17 game against the Detroit Lions. Ferguson has developed a strong floor as essentially the WR2 in this offense behind CeeDee Lamb. Ferguson has seen exactly eight targets in each of his past four games, and should be in for a similar dose against a Lions defense that's been struggling to stop opposing passing games of late. He's an easy TE1 with top-five upside this week.

From RotoBaller

Dec 24 8:20pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson made four catches in a Week 16 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Ferguson was targeted eight times, making the four catches for 45 yards. The four catches left him second on the team behind CeeDee Lamb and the 45 yards were the third most behind Lamb and Jalen Tolbert. It wasn't a particularly good game for the Dallas offense, but Ferguson was at least able to put up a decent floor performance and should be in for a similar or slightly better showing next week when the Cowboys take on the Detroit Lions on Saturday.

From RotoBaller

Dec 21 9:40pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is a strong fantasy option in a Week 16 game against the Miami Dolphins. Ferguson has been the overall fantasy TE10 so far this season and has essentially been operating as the second option in the Cowboys passing game behind CeeDee Lamb. The Dolphins defense has been excellent against opposing passing games overall, but they've been just average against opposing tight ends. Ferguson has a chance to have a big game and as the tight end with the most red zone targets in the NFL, he always has touchdown upside.

From RotoBaller

Dec 17 8:10pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson made six catches in a Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Ferguson was targeted eight times, making the six catches for 44 yards. It wasn't a good game for the Cowboys offense as a whole, but Ferguson was able to do a good job with his opportunities and put up a decent fantasy performance. He and the Cowboys should do better in Week 16 against the Miami Dolphins on the road.

From RotoBaller

Dec 14 12:10pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is a solid option in Week 15 lineups despite a tough matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Ferguson has put up two weeks in a row of top-10 finishes at his position, posting 27 fantasy points combined across the two weeks. The Bills defense is ninth against opposing tight ends, but Ferguson has shown to be more than solid enough to deal with better defenses. He's a TE1 option with touchdown upside.

From RotoBaller

Dec 11 1:10am ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson made five catches in a Week 14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Ferguson led the team in receiving yards with 72, making his five catches on eight targets, including a big gain of 32 yards. Ferguson should remain a high-floor TE1 when the Cowboys take on the Bills in Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Dec 7 5:50pm ET

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson has a good matchup in a Week 14 divisional matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Ferguson has been the fantasy TE7 this season and gets to go up against an Eagles defense that has allowed the third-most touchdowns to tight ends and the 10th most fantasy points to the position. In what should be a high-scoring but close game, Ferguson is a top-10 fantasy option at the tight end position and can be started in most formats.
