Free-agent WRs Bruce Ellington (Lions) and Maurice Harris (Redskins) are visiting the New England Patriots Thursday, March 14.
The Detroit Lions released wide receiver Bruce Ellington, safety Glover Quinn and linebacker Nicholas Grigsby on Friday. Ellington signed with the Lions after they traded Golden Tate to the Eagles and became their slot receiver until he landed on Injured Reserve on Dec. 22. He had 23 catches for 132 yards in four games for Detroit. Ellington's best year came in 2017 with the Texans when he had 29 catches for 330 yards and two touchdowns. Wherever he signs, he'll battle for a roster spot in training camp.
Detroit Lions WR Bruce Ellington, S Glover Quin and LB Nicholas Grigsby were released by the team on Friday, Feb. 15.
Detroit Lions impending free-agent WR Bruce Ellington said he hopes to remain with the team in 2019.
Detroit Lions WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 22.
Detroit Lions S Charles Washington (hamstring) did not practice Friday, Dec. 21, and he is out for Week 16 against the Minnesota Vikings, and WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) was limited but is also out. CB Jamal Agnew (knee), RB LeGarrette Blount (calf), WR Kenny Golladay (chest), DT Damon Harrison (ankle), LB Devon Kennard (hip) and QB Matthew Stafford (back) were each limited and are all listed as questionable. FB Nick Bellore (ankle), CB Marcus Cooper (back), LS Don Muhlbach (calf) and OT Ricky Wagner (concussion) practiced in full and are off the injury report.
Detroit Lions DT Damon Harrison (ankle), LS Don Muhlbach (calf) and S Charles Washington (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 20. CB Jamal Agnew (knee), FB Nick Bellore (ankle), RB LeGarrette Blount (calf), WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) and LB Devon Kennard (hip) were limited. CB Marcus Cooper (back) and OT Ricky Wagner (concussion) practiced in full.
Detroit Lions DT Damon Harrison (ankle) and S Charles Washington (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 19. CB Jamal Agnew (ankle), FB Nick Bellore (ankle), WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring), WR Kenny Golladay (chest), LB Devon Kennard (hip), LS Don Muhlbach (calf) and QB Matthew Stafford (back) were limited participants while CB Marcus Cooper (back) and OT Ricky Wagner (concussion) practiced in full.
The Detroit Lions have declared WR Bruce Ellington, CB Charles Washington, RB Kerryon Johnson, FB Nick Bellore, DE Da'Shawn Hand, CB Marcus Cooper and OT Ricky Wagner inactive for Week 15.
Detroit Lions WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 14, and has been ruled out for Week 15.
Fantasy Spin: T.J. Jones, Andy Jones and Theo Riddick could all see some more targets with Ellington out of the lineup. Riddick can be a flex option in all leagues but will be more valuable in point-per-reception leagues. Kenny Golladay is probably the only Lions receiver that should be started in fantasy leagues.
Detroit Lions WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) did not participate in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 13.
Fantasy Spin: Ellington has become heavily involved in Detroit's offense in recent weeks, totaling 23 catches in the last four games. However, it seems more likely he won't be able to suit up Sunday. Kenny Golladay would benefit in that case but he's the only player worth deploying from what has been an inconsistent unit in 2018.
Detroit Lions WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring), DE Da'Shawn Hand (knee), OT Ricky Wagner (concussion) and CB Charles Washington (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 12. LB Trevor Bates (ankle), LB Nick Bellore (ankle), CB Marcus Cooper (back), OT Taylor Decker (shoulder) and LB Devon Kennard (hip) were limited.
Detroit Lions WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) left the Week 14 game against the Arizona Cardinals, finishing his day with four catches and just 17 yards.
Fantasy Spin: When healthy Ellington is only worth a look as a low-end WR4 in deeper PPR fantasy leagues with lesser appeal in standard play.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Bruce Ellington caught all four of his targets for just 17 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. Ellington was forced to leave the game in the third quarter with a hamstring injury and did not return. The 27-year-old has now caught at least four passes in every game since joining the Lions, but now he joins the host of Lions on the team's injury report. His Week 15 status for the game against the Bills will likely be up in the air, depending on the severity of the injury.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Bruce Ellington (hamstring) left the game early in the second half in Week 14 against the Cardinals and is questionable to return. Ellington caught all four of his targets for just 17 yards before his injury. Ellington has seen a heavy dosage of targets ever since Marvin Jones landed on Injured Reserve, but he hasn't been able to capitalize with much yardage or any touchdowns for owners in DFS or deeper leagues. He was questionable coming into this game with a back injury. With rookie Brandon Powell inactive, Andy Jones could soak up more targets as the third wideout. Detroit's offense has precious few playmakers left at this point.
Detroit Lions WR Bruce Ellington (back) is officially active for the Week 14 game.
Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford (back), wide receiver Bruce Ellington (back) and tight end Michael Roberts (shoulder) are active in Week 14 against the Cardinals. Stafford is running out of playmakers on offense due to injuries and trades, so even in a good matchup he'll be a mediocre QB2 play this weekend. Ellington has an opportunity to be a bigger part of the offense with Marvin Jones out for the year. Ellington has seen a big increase in targets in recent weeks but hasn't done much with them, making him a low-end WR4/flex in PPR leagues. Roberts is a red zone weapon for Stafford but is a touchdown-dependent TE2. Receiver Brandon Powell (calf) is inactive, which is good news for TJ Jones in three-receiver sets.
Detroit Lions WR Bruce Ellington (back) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 7, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.
Fantasy Spin: Ellington has posted 19 receptions in three games since joining the Lions but has not posted great yardage total during that span. Ellington can be a flex option in point-per-reception leagues but probably is not a great option in standard leagues.
Detroit Lions RB Kerryon Johnson (knee) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals. LB Trevor Bates (ankle) was limited in practice for a second straight day Friday, Dec. 7, but has also been ruled out. FB Nick Bellore (ankle), WR Bruce Ellington (back), DE Kerry Hyder Jr. (illness), LB Devon Kennard (hip), WR Brandon Powell (calf), TE Michael Roberts (shoulder), CB Darius Slay (ankle) and QB Matthew Stafford (back) were limited in practice Friday and are listed as questionable. DE Ziggy Ansah (neck) and WR Kenny Golladay (quad) returned to a full practice Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.
