2024 RTSports Outlook

Stafford had his season cut short because of a neck/spine injury last year. He wasn't having great season before the injury, though. He had more than 20 fantasy points just once in nine games. He had multiple touchdowns just twice. Stafford had some accuracy issues, having the eighth worse bad throw percentage in football. He had 10 touchdowns to eight interceptions. Stafford had two straight 4,000-yard passing season before last year. He remains the starter for the Rams and gets a chance to lead a high-powered offense. Stafford is 35 years old and coming off an injury-plagued season, so there are some question marks for him this year. Stafford has been a top-10 fantasy quarterback four of his last eight seasons. Stafford has nine 4,000-yard seasons and four of those seasons with 30-plus scores. Stafford has a huge arm, moves around the pocket well and is a big, strong quarterback. He will force some passes, though, having 25 interceptions his two seasons with the Rams.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Stafford can be an elite fantasy quarterback in this Rams offense. Don't draft him as a top-10 fantasy quarterback, though. He has some red flags. But if the Rams passing options are healthy and the offensive line gets better, Stafford can rebound. He is a good quarterback to take as a platoon player. Look for around 4,500-passing yards, 35 scores and 15 interceptions.

The Los Angeles Rams agreed to terms with free-agent offensive guard Jonah Jackson on Monday on a three-year, $51 million deal with $34 million guaranteed, according to sources. Jackson joins the recently re-signed Kevin Dotson as the Rams spend big money on the middle of their offensive line. The Rams are making it a priority to protect aging quarterback Matthew Stafford while also opening up lanes for running back Kyren Williams heading into next season. The 27-year-old Jackson, a former third-rounder of the Detroit Lions in 2020, was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and has started all 57 games that he's played in in his first four seasons in the NFL. Jackson played a pivotal role in the Lions' offensive line, which was one of the best O-lines in football in recent seasons, so this is a big addition for the Rams offense up front.

Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead said the organization has had discussions with offensive lineman Kevin Dotson about a potential contract extension, but he anticipates him to hit the free-agent market. After three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dotson, along with a 2024 fifth- and 2025 sixth-round pick, was traded to the Rams for a 2024 fourth- and 2025 fifth-round pick. He was graded as one of the best guards in the NFL last season, according to PFF, so he should have no shortage of interested suitors. Snead said the Rams will remain in contact with him with hopes of bringing him back to block for running back Kyren Williams and quarterback Matthew Stafford in 2024.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford plans to return to the team in 2024, he said on Sunday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Spin: The Rams couldn't cut Stafford even if they wanted to, as the veteran signal-caller has a massive dead-cap hit in 2024. However, the Rams could certainly do worse after Stafford showed he still has something left in the tank after he led the team to the playoffs with a strong stretch run of the season that saw him rank as QB10 overall from Week 11 on. As long as he's healthy and has Sean McVay calling the plays, Stafford will be a solid QB2 who will post QB1 production some weeks.

From TheHuddle

Jan 16 8:15pm ET

Rams' QB Matthew Stafford scored 26.35 fantasy points in Sunday's playoff loss in Detroit. Stafford threw for 367 yards on 25-of-36 with two touchdowns. Stafford scored at least 25 fantasy points four times during the regular season.

Jan 15 5:00am ET

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford could not come out on top in the team's wildcard loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Stafford completed 25 of his 36 pass attempts for 367 yards and two touchdowns. Despite him shredding Detroit's defense, the Rams could not come out on top. Stafford ended the year on a strong note and surprised many people with his performance this season. Heading into next season, the veteran QB should be considered as a low-end QB1 and will be a solid option late in fantasy drafts.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who was able to undergo a full rehab and throwing routine last offseason, continues to feel healthy and throw the ball well. The veteran signal-caller "has no plans to retire," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He completed 62.2 percent of his passes this past season, reaping the rewards of a receiving corps led by Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. He finished the year with 3,965 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while ranking as the overall QB15 in fantasy football.

Jan 14 4:50am ET

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford will be facing his former team in Sunday's wildcard matchup against the Detroit Lions. Stafford ended the regular season with a dominant six-week stretch where he averaged 284 passing yards and 2.5 touchdowns per game. Through the regular season, Detroit allowed the fifth-most fantasy points and third-most passing yards to opposing QBs. The Rams offense has been rolling since the return of running back Kyren Williams and they will look to keep it going. Stafford should absolutely be considered in all DFS lineups and bets for Sunday's game.

From RotoBaller

Jan 11 5:00pm ET

The Detroit Lions defense has surrendered the sixth-most passing yards per game (247.4) in 2023 and was just shredded by Nick Mullens for almost 400 yards. A matchup with the Los Angeles Rams featuring Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Puka Nacua awaits, so the Lions' stop unit could be in trouble. Although Detroit's front seven has improved mightily this year, its secondary remains a big issue. Don't be surprised if this Sunday night Wild Card game turns into a shootout. For fantasy football and DFS purposes, fade Detroit's defense.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (non-injury), RB Kyren Williams (non-injury), WR Cooper Kupp (non-injury) and TE Tyler Higbee (shoulder) have been declared inactive for the Week 18 game.

Fantasy Spin: The Rams have clinched a playoff spot, so they are resting most of their skill players. Ronnie Rivers, Royce Freeman and Davis Allen will have some value in fantasy leagues, but fantasy players can consider other options for their lineups.

From TheHuddle

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (non-injury) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 5, and is listed as doubtful for Week 18.

Fantasy Spin: Carson Wentz is scheduled to start the regular season finale with Stafford sitting out but probably should be avoided in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jan 3 2:23pm ET

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford will not play in Week 18 and QB Carson Wentz will start in his place, according to sources on Wednesday, Jan. 3.

Fantasy Spin: Stafford will get a breather ahead of the playoffs, which is unfortunate for fantasy owners depending on him, as the veteran signal-caller has ranked as QB6 overall since Week 12. Wentz will be a boom-or-bust QB2.

Dec 31 7:20pm ET

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford came back down to earth in the team's Week 17 win against the New York Giants. Stafford completed 24 of his 34 pass attempts for 317 yards and one touchdown, as well as two interceptions. He also rushed the ball once for a loss of a yard. Entering this game, the veteran QB put together a four-game stretch where he totaled 1159 passing yards and 10 touchdowns through the air while throwing no interceptions. Consider him as a risky low-end QB1 in a tough Week 18 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.

Dec 31 7:13pm ET

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford completed 24-of-34 passes for 317 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Week 17 against the New York Giants, and he ran once for minus-1 yard.

From TheHuddle

Dec 31 4:30pm ET

Rams' QB Matthew Stafford passed for 317 yards on 24-of-34 with one touchdown in Sunday's game in New York Giants. He did throw two interceptions in the win. It was Stafford's 2nd consecutive 300+ yard passing game. He has averaged 323 yards passing in those games.

Dec 31 12:40pm ET

Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson (thigh) will be inactive in Week 17 against the New York Giants due to what the team is calling a personal reason. Jackson was added to the injury report on Friday as questionable with a thigh issue, but at that time they expected that he would play on Sunday. Meanwhile, Joe Noteboom (foot) is active despite coming into this contest with a questionable tag, and he will likely start at left tackle on quarterback Matthew Stafford's blind side with Jackson being out. The 28-year-old Noteboom has started seven of the 13 games he's played in for the Rams in his sixth year with the team. Jackson's absence on the left side of LA's offensive line will be something to watch on Sunday.
