New England Patriots RB Lamar Miller was released Saturday, Sept. 5.

The New England Patriots have released running back Lamar Miller, ending his tenure in New England before he played a single regular season game. Miller was coming off a torn ACL last preseason. Miller's an interesting free agent if he's fully recovered from the injury, as he rushed for 973 yards in 2018 with the Texans. With Miller gone, it looks like the Patriots will go into the season with Sony Michel, James White, Damien Harris, and Rex Burkhead as their running backs. Not a big surprise, as all four were with the Patriots last season. White's a solid PPR option this year, while the other three are less intriguing because we don't know how playing time will shake out.

New England Patriots RB Lamar Miller (undisclosed) passed his physical Monday, Aug. 31, and has been activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.

Fantasy Spin: Miller has about two weeks to prepare for the start of the season, so fantasy players should monitor the situation. Miller's role is uncertain because the team uses several running backs in their offense. He probably can be avoided in most fantasy leagues but may be a waiver wire option during the season if he makes the team.

Updating previous report, New England Patriots RB Lamar Miller received a one-year, $1.05 million contract that includes $200,000 in guarantees with $1.5 million also available in 'achievable' incentives.

Updating a previous story, free-agent RB Lamar Miller (Texans) officially signed an undisclosed contract with the New England Patriots Thursday, Aug. 13, and was then put on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.

The New England Patriots have signed former Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller to a one-year deal. Miller missed all of 2019 after tearing his ACL and MCL in preseason, but the veteran back has shown some explosiveness in the past and adds important insurance to this backfield, especially with Sony Michel (foot) not a lock to be healthy Week 1. Miller's been good before, but he's likely just keeping the seat warm for Michel and even if Michel does miss time, Miller's likely to be part of a committee approach in New England. There's not a ton of reason to be excited about this signing for fantasy purposes, but Miller could be worth a late-round dart throw in deeper formats.

Free-agent RB Lamar Miller (Texans) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New England Patriots Monday, Aug. 10. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Spin: The Patriots have Sony Michel, Damien Harris, James White and Rex Burkhead on the roster, so it is not known how Miller would be used in the offense. Fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation during camp, but Miller probably will not have much fantasy value unless Michel's foot injury keep him from playing Week 1.

Jul 17 12:33pm ET

Free agent RB Lamar Miller (knee) is close to making a full recovery from the torn ACL he suffered in the 2019 preseason. He will need teams to bring him in for a medical exam before he can sign.

Fantasy Spin: Miller was a top-24 fantasy back in each of his last five seasons prior to 2019, but he has the older running back coming off an injury stigma working against him as well as the COVID-19 restrictions on workouts. He remains well off the fantasy radar for now.

From TheHuddle

Jul 10 9:23am ET

Free-agent RB Lamar Miller (knee) posted a video that showed him running and cutting after he missed the entire 2019 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Spin: Miller looked good, but with the restrictions on taking physicals, it could be difficult for someone to pick him up. Surely someone will eventually, though, and he could be an RB4 in fantasy that could climb higher.
