Player Notes
Jan 19 11:53pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Jalen Richard's 68 catches in 2018 ranked seventh among running backs, and his 607 receiving yards were the sixth most at the position,

Fantasy Spin: Richard rarely saw meaningful carries, but he had a steady role in the passing attack. He is expected to return to Oakland in 2019, and you could do worse when hunting for running back depth in PPR formats.

Jan 17 7:43pm ET

Oakland Raiders restricted free-agent RB Jalen Richard is expected to return to the team next season.

Fantasy Spin: Richard likely will not take over the starting job in 2019 but should continue to be a solid receiver out of the backfield for the Raiders. He can be considered a late-round option in point-per-reception leagues next season.

Dec 28 6:23pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Jalen Richard (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 28, and is not on the injury report for Week 17.

Fantasy Spin: Richard has posted at least 50 total yards in three of the last four games and will continue to be involved in the running and passing game. He could be a flex option in some deeper point-per-reception leagues but can be avoided in most standard leagues.

Dec 28 4:23pm ET

Oakland Raiders DB Montrel Meander (quad) did not practice Friday, Dec. 28, and has been ruled out for Week 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs. DT Maurice Hurst (ankle) was limited in practice Friday and is listed as questionable. CB Gareon Conley (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday and is also listed as questionable. TE Jared Cook (ribs) and C Rodney Hudson (ankle, knee) were limited in practice Friday but no longer appear on the injury report. DT Johnathan Hankins (shoulder), S Karl Joseph (neck), OL Kelechi Osemele (toe), RB Jalen Richard (ankle), FB Keith Smith (calf), TE Lee Smith (back), LB Kyle Wilber (hamstring) and OL Denver Kirkland (illness) were full participants at practice Friday and have also been removed from the injury report.

Dec 27 7:23pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Jalen Richard (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Spin: Richard should be involved in the running and passing game against the Kansas City Chiefs and can be considered a flex option in some deeper leagues.

Dec 26 7:30pm ET

Oakland Raiders tight end Jared Cook (ribs) and running back Jalen Richard (ankle) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Both players should be fine for the Week 17 season finale against the Chiefs. It's a matchup that should require the Raiders to throw the ball often, which would benefit both Cook and Richard. Cook will be a high-end TE1 despite disappointing in Week 16, while Richard will be on the RB3/flex map in PPR leagues.

Dec 26 7:13pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Jalen Richard (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Spin: Richard has received eight or nine touches in each of the last four games and should have a similar role if he plays this week. He can be considered a flex option in some leagues.

Dec 25 6:33am ET

Oakland Raiders RB Jalen Richard carried the rock four times for 11 yards and added four receptions for 40 yards in the team's Week 16 win Monday, Dec. 24, against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Spin: This is a pretty typical stat line for Richard and it certainly wasn't going to change while backfield teammate Doug Martin was enjoying his best showing of the year. Due to his inconsistent usage and defined ceiling, Richard is really only a FLEX option in deep PPR leagues.

Dec 16 7:33pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Jalen Richard ran four times for nine yards in Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals and he added five receptions for 67 yards on six targets.

Fantasy Spin: The Raiders got away from the run in the second half with the game out of hand, and that was good news for Richard running short routes out of the backfield. He's a nice low-end RB3 or flex fantasy option in PPR leagues in Week 16 against the Denver Broncos on Monday night with much lesser value in standard play.

Dec 16 6:30pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard posted decent fantasy numbers in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Richard ended with five receptions for 67 yards, both of which were second highest on the team, but was unable to find the end zone. Richard did lose a fumble in this game, which was one of two lost fumbles for the Raiders in this game. He will continue to make a viable fantasy option due to his PPR value coming out of the backfield in the passing game.

From RotoBaller

Dec 14 5:30pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard is a riskier fantasy option this week, despite facing off against a very soft Bengals defense. Richard is coming a game where he only saw one target in the passing game, which was his lowest total since Week 2. Richard makes his living in the passing game and has seen four or more targets in 10 straight games. That PPR value is certainly very nice, but with the game set to be closer than usual, we could be seeing a solid workload for Doug Martin, limiting the chances for Richard.

Dec 10 4:30pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard (rib) was injured in the Week 14 win over the Steelers but should be OK, according to head coach Jon Gruden. Richard had nine touches on Sunday (eight carries for 24 yards and one catch for five yards) a week after rushing for a season-high 95 yards against the Chiefs. As long as Doug Martin remains the lead back on early downs and at the goal line, Richard is an unappealing RB3/flex in PPR leagues. Oakland does have a nice matchup against Cincinnati in Week 15.

From RotoBaller

Dec 9 9:30pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard finished with very little production in Sunday's win against the Steelers. The projected game script was set up nicely for Richard, as we should've seen the Raiders trailing, which means plenty of pass-catching opportunities. That wasn't the case, as we saw Richard finish with only one reception for five yards, along with eight carries for 24 yards. Prior to this game, Richard had three or more receptions in nine of his last 10 games, making him a viable flex option in deeper leagues.

Dec 7 5:10pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard is in a favorable spot this Sunday against the Steelers. The Raiders listed Doug Martin as questionable for this game but should be good to go, which oddly enough won't impact Richard's production. Richard has four or more targets in 10 straight games, which is a trend we should see continue this week, as the Raiders come in as 10-point underdogs at home. With the Raiders set to be trailing, the passing game should be prevalent, giving Richard plenty of chances to reach or exceed fantasy value.

From RotoBaller

Dec 2 11:53pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Jalen Richard rushed six times for 95 yards and caught three passes for 31 yards in a 40-33 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13.

Fantasy Spin: You can't bank on Richard being this efficient with his carries, but his role on passing downs isn't going anywhere. He's can help out as a flex option in PPR formats.

Dec 2 9:30pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard was able to pile up over 100 yards in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. Richard added 95 yards in the rushing game on just six carries, along with three receptions for 31 yards in the passing game. Despite seeing all this work in the offense, Richard has yet to find the end zone this season. He is due for some serious positive touchdown regression, which will hopefully come next week versus the Steelers, who should be leading in that game, forcing the Raiders to pass the ball more.

From RotoBaller

Nov 30 4:30pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard brings strong PPR value in this Sunday's game against the Chiefs. We should be seeing the Raiders playing from behind, as they are 15-point home underdogs, which would put Richard in a spot to continue his pass-catching role in the offense. Richard has posted four or more receptions in five of his last seven games, a level of production he should be able to reproduce this week since the Chiefs have the 27th DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) versus running backs in the passing game.

From RotoBaller

Nov 25 6:00pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard had little production in Sunday's loss against the Ravens. Richard is generally a favorable target for Derek Carr in the passing game and brings strong PPR value week in and week out. The case was a bit different today, as he ended with only two catches for 15 yards on four targets. Next week they will be up against the Chiefs, who have struggled all season on defense, which should be a nice spot for him to add some value in the offense.

From RotoBaller

Nov 25 4:43pm ET

Oakland Raiders RB Jalen Richard caught two passes for 15 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12. He also rushed for one yard on one carry during the game.

Fantasy Spin: Richard struggled against a tough Ravens defense but should continue to be involved in the running and passing game moving forward. He should have more success next week and can be a flex option in some point-per-reception leagues.

Nov 23 10:40pm ET

Oakland Raiders running back Jalen Richard is in a matchup where he could see plenty of work against the Ravens. The Raiders come in as 10 point underdogs, which means they should be playing from behind and needing to pass the ball to catch up. This sets up perfectly for Richard, who has seen four or more targets in seven straight games. He makes a viable flex option in a season-long league, while his cheaper price in DFS makes him an interesting salary saving option.
