2024 RTSports Outlook

Wilson had a big season despite playing for two teams. He started the year with the 49ers and ended with the Dolphins. He had more than 1,000 total yards and was 30th overall in fantasy running back scoring. His strong play down the stretch with the Dolphins might earn him a top backup role for the coming season. Wilson has plenty of past success and starting experience. Wilson doesn't wow in any one area but is a solid overall back. He does well between the tackles but also possesses enough speed to make plays on the outside. He also catches the ball well, showing he is capable of being a three-down back. He lacks a little big-play ability for the position, though.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Wilson isn't flashy but consistent. He will get his weekly touches and have a few big games along the way. He might have a hard time repeating his big season from last year, though. Consider him more of a No. 4 or 5 fantasy back. He can get around 600 total yards and a few scores.

RotoBaller's Outlook

After being traded from San Francisco to Miami midway through the 2022 season, running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (abdomen) made the most of his opportunities, rushing 176 times for 860 yards and five touchdowns. He also added 22 receptions for 185 yards and a TD in the air. The 27-year-old was placed on the injured reserve Thursday and will miss at least the next four games. He is dealing with injuries to both his midsection and finger. According to his agent Drew Rosenhaus, Wilson could return for Week 5 against the New York Giants. When healthy, Wilson was expected to split carries with incumbent Raheem Mostert, the team drafted Texas A&M RB De'Von Achanein Round 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft. In a crowded running back room, there is a path for Wilson to be the lead back when he returns, but how many touches can we expect on a weekly basis? In the offseason, Miami signed Wilson to a two-year, $8.2 million extension. He is being drafted around the RB52 in redraft formats at this time but has slid down draft boards due to injuries. The Dolphins offense will be dynamic, but it's anyone's guess who the lead RB will be in Miami, if there even is one.

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. played a season-high 49 percent of the offensive snaps with Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee) out in the ugly 56-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but he had just three carries for 21 yards and caught three of his four targets for 13 yards. Meanwhile, rookie running back De'Von Achane served as Miami's lead back with 18 total touches for 137 scrimmage yards and a touchdown through the air. The Dolphins aren't going to be resting players in a crucial Week 18 contest against the Buffalo Bills that will decide the winner of the AFC East. Even if Mostert misses his second straight game with multiple injuries, Wilson will most likely operate well behind Achane in Miami's backfield, making him no more than an RB3/flex option in deep PPR formats.

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. didn't see a single touch in Week 14 with the rest of the backfield healthy. His fantasy relevance is heavily dependent on whether or not De'Von Achane (toe) plays in Week 15. Achane remains questionable through the usual Friday injury report, so Wilson does have a shot at getting some more opportunities. When the Dolphins took on the Jets in Week 12, Wilson played in place of Achane and he saw 11 carries for 56 yards and three catches for 17 yards. Wilson would serve more as a desperation backup option, so fantasy managers should monitor Achane's status if they need to deploy Wilson in lineups.

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. saw his biggest workload of the year in the Week 12 win over the New York Jets on Friday, just a week after being a healthy scratch. Rookie De'Von Achane (knee) was inactive, leading to Wilson carrying the ball 11 times for 56 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and catching all three of his targets for an additional 17 yards. Wilson looked fresh and explosive after missing the first six weeks of the season with an injury. He was actually outperforming lead back Raheem Mostert until Mostert scored twice on the ground in the second half. The 28-year-old should remain involved in this backfield, but his touch count could suffer once Achane is deemed healthy enough to play again. Wilson probably won't be a viable flex play in deeper leagues once Achane is back.

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said that running back Jeff Wilson Jr. will likely be active in Week 12 against the division-rival New York Jets this Friday after he was a healthy scratch in the Week 11 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. "Jeff is ready, fully healthy and I'm ready for the people's champ to get some action," McDaniel said. Wilson was the odd man out last week when rookie De'Von Achane (knee) returned from Injured Reserve, but Achane quickly aggravated his knee injury and the Dolphins also placed Salvon Ahmed (foot) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. It remains to be seen if Achane will even be cleared to play in Week 12, so Wilson could have a pretty decent role alongside Raheem Mostert this week.

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (coach's decision) is a healthy scratch for Week 11 versus the Las Vegas Raiders. Wilson essentially became expendable this week after Miami activated De'Von Achane (knee) from injured reserve. The 28-year-old has totaled just 29 rushing and 50 receiving yards through three contests this year. For this Sunday (and perhaps beyond), the Dolphins will feature Achane and Raheem Mostert atop their depth chart while Salvon Ahmed rounds out the backfield.

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. is expected to see increased opportunities in Week 8 versus the New England Patriots. The 27-year-old returned from IR last week but mustered just one catch for four yards. Head coach Mike McDaniel explained that the team had plans to get him more involved, but that simply didn't work out. He should see increased touches this Sunday against a relatively soft Patriots defense. Nevertheless, Wilson will be the clear No. 2 option behind Raheem Mostert, limiting his fantasy upside.

Oct 23 12:10pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. was barely involved in his 2023 season debut in the Sunday night loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Wilson played just 14 percent of the offensive snaps and caught his only target for a gain of four yards. He didn't receive a single carry, while Salvon Ahmed saw two rushing attempts for three yards on a night where the stout Eagles defensive line completely shut down Miami's ground attack. The 27-year-old missed the first six games of the season while on Injured Reserve due to ribs and finger injuries, so it shouldn't come as a big surprise that he didn't play a big role. Wilson should start to see more involvement in the coming weeks, but it doesn't mean he'll be worthy of a starting lineup spot in Week 8 against the New England Patriots.

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (ribs, finger) will make his 2023-24 debut on Sunday night against Philadelphia. Without question, Raheem Mostert will handle a bulk of the touches out of the backfield. But Wilson could get involved, although he'll likely see a reduced workload for his first game back. However, with Wilson back in the mix, Salvon Ahmed, who had six carries for 23 yards and a touchdown in Week 6, will have a tough time remaining relevant for fantasy managers.
