2019 RTSports Outlook

Foreman played just a game last season as he recovered from his torn Achilles' tendon suffered his rookie season. He had nine touches for 27 yards. Foreman will try to prove he is healthy and earn a bigger role this year. Foreman has great size for the position and does well between the tackles. He does a good job of always making positive yards. He needs work on his pass catching, though, and in pass protection to be a three-down back in this league.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Foreman has some potential, especially for scores, but he won't get a ton of work in the passing game and isn't a huge big-play threat.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Foreman was waived by the Texans and the Colts picked him up just a day later. He joins one of the more crowded backfields in the league with two starts already firmly holding position. Marlon Mack is a RB2 and a great pick in the early rounds. Nyheim Hines is the receiving back and is a lot better than Foreman at catching. He likely fills in behind Mack as his backup. This pushes him far down the RB rankings into the handcuff tier. Even if Mack were to get injured, you can fully expect this backfield to be a committee. Foreman was released for his work habits by Houston, so Im not sure theres any reason to go out of your way in hopes he prevails in this crowded backfield. Foreman is being drafted far too high and you can avoid as anything more than a handcuff.

Indianapolis Colts RB D'Onta Foreman (biceps) will remain with the team while rehabbing torn biceps. He's expected to miss four months but the team intends to keep him for next year.

Indianapolis Colts WR Daurice Fountain (ankle) and RB D'Onta Foreman (undisclosed) were placed on injured reserve Monday, Aug. 19. S Derrick Kindred was waived. The team signed S Kai Nacua, RB Charcandrick West and RB Marquis Young.

Free-agent running back D'Onta Foreman (Texans) didn't stay unemployed for long, as the Indianapolis Colts snapped him up off waivers on Monday. Foreman was surprisingly cut by the Texans over the weekend, but the Colts quickly moved to add him for depth behind Marlon Mack. Now, he'll have two opportunities to face his former team each season. While Mack is the unquestioned starter, it's bad news for those who own stock in Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins, as those two now have heavy competition for touches. Jonathan Williams and Keith Ford were already facing an uphill battle, now might be on the outside looking in for a spot on the 53-man roster.

Free-agent RB D'Onta Foreman (Texans) was claimed off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts on Monday, Aug. 5.

Fantasy Spin: It is an interesting - in that he'll stay inside the AFC South - yet predictable landing spot for Foreman after Spencer Ware landed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list late last week. Work ethic issues reportedly led to the end of Foreman's career in Houston, but he's more than talented enough to emerge as Marlon Mack's backup by the end of camp if his mind is right.

From TheHuddle

Aug 4 10:53am ET

The Houston Texans waived RB D'Onta Foreman Sunday, Aug. 4.

Fantasy Spin: Foreman was waived because the Texans were disappointed with his work habits but he shouldn't have much difficulty latching on with another team. Damarea Crockett, Josh Ferguson, Karan Higdon, Buddy Howell and Taiwan Jones will battle for the No. 2 RB job in Houston behind Lamar Miller.

From TheHuddle

Aug 4 9:10am ET

In a surprising move, the Houston Texans waived running back D'Onta Foreman on Sunday. Foreman was slow to recover from an Achilles injury that he suffered in 2017 and held him to just seven carries and negative-one yard in one game in 2018. The team wasn't happy with Foreman's training camp performance and head coach Bill O'Brien had already made clear that the number-two back job wasn't safely Foreman's, so the move is in line with how the team was feeling about the third-year back. Lamar Miller remains safely the number-one back in Houston and is a high-upside RB2 at this point just based on volume. Josh Ferguson looks set to be the third-down back, while the battle to be the main backup to Miller will probably come down to Buddy Howell, Taiwan Jones, and Karan Higdon.

From RotoBaller

Jul 30 5:03pm ET

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman is reportedly part of a 'wide-open' competition for the backup job behind Lamar Miller, according is made by head coach Bill O'Brien.

Fantasy Spin: This has the feel of coach-speak and could be O'Brien's way of motivating Foreman during early camp practices. If the third-year back is legitimately part of a competition, he's battling Josh Ferguson, Taiwan Jones, Buddy Howell, Karan Higdon and Damarea Crockett for the job. Assuming Foreman is looking as good as O'Brien made him sound this spring, he will win this "competition" going away and could easily force a split backfield with Miller during the season.

From TheHuddle

Jul 28 2:50pm ET

Houston Texans running back D'Onta Foreman struggled last year in his return from an Achilles injury, but was expected to enter 2019 with a firm grip on the team's number-two running back job. But that talk might need to be cooled, as head coach Bill O'Brien said on Sunday that the only guarantee at running back is that Lamar Miller is the starter. Foreman is likely still in the lead for the number-two job, but Josh Ferguson, Taiwan Jones, and Buddy Howell will all have chances to grab carries in the preseason. For now, it might be best to avoid this backfield outside of Miller.

From RotoBaller

Jul 20 10:33pm ET

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman's performance this year will be a 'season-long audition' to show he deserves to be the lead back in 2020, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Fantasy Spin: Lamar Miller enters 2019 as the starter, but he is also in a contract year. Foreman is a high-end handcuff in redraft leagues for now, but his upside in keeper formats is enormous. By next season, he could be the featured back in a potent offense.

From TheHuddle

Jul 19 1:10pm ET

Houston Texans running back D'Onta Foreman had a disastrous 2018 season, rushing for negative yardage on seven carries while adding two catches for 28 yards and a touchdown. Recovering from an Achilles tear, Foreman appeared in just one regular season game, playing 31 snaps in a loss to the Eagles. Foreman is expected to play a much bigger role this year now that Houston's long time backup, Alfred Blue, is gone, and Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle expects 2019 to be an audition of sorts for Foreman in preparation for Lamar Miller's impending free agency, with Foreman seeing a decent amount of work this season. Foreman makes sense as a late round pick for this reason, though questions about how he'll play after the Achilles injury loom large.

From RotoBaller

Jul 2 11:40am ET

Houston Texans running back D'Onta Foreman is reportedly "light years" ahead of where he was at last year in recovery from his Achilles tear. Achilles injuries are often multi-year issues, with players missing a full season and then spending the next one working their way back onto the field and towards being close to their old self. Foreman opens the year behind Lamar Miller in Houston's backfield, and while he could theoretically challenge for the lead job, we'll have to see if the Achilles injury has hurt his explosiveness when the preseason arrives before we know for sure. For now, consider him solidly Houston's number-two back.

From RotoBaller

Jul 2 11:33am ET

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman is 'light years' ahead of where he was last season, according to running backs coach Danny Barrett. Foreman is down to 230 pounds and more explosive after he battled back from an Achilles' injury.

From TheHuddle

May 29 5:10pm ET

Houston Texans running back D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) said he feels better now than he has entering any season of his career and is "starting all over with a chip on my shoulder." Foreman, still only 23, wasn't quite able to make it back last season and managed just seven carries for negative-one yard in his only game for the Texans. The third-round pick in 2017 is on a mission to prove that he deserves more touches than Lamar Miller this year, and he might not be wrong. Miller has been pretty mediocre in his time with Houston, so Foreman will definitely be worth a handcuff pick in the event he overtakes the veteran in 2019.

From RotoBaller

May 22 11:30pm ET

Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien is seeing "good progress" from running back D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) after his "significant" Achilles injury. Foreman's work away from the team has helped him have a "good spring." The 23-year-old was trying to make a comeback last year but was only able to play in one game and had seven rushing attempts for negative-one yard. A healthy Foreman in 2019 will put pressure on Lamar Miller in the backfield. He'd be a worthy handcuff for any owner who selects Miller and could wind up seeing more touches eventually.

From RotoBaller

May 21 2:33pm ET

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) has reportedly made 'good progress' in his recovery from his 'significant' Achilles injury in 2017 and parlayed that into a 'good spring,' according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

From TheHuddle

Apr 18 2:23pm ET

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) returned to the team in good shape, according to general manager Brian Gaine.

Fantasy Spin: Although the Texans are expected to add a pass-catching back in the draft, Foreman's recovery from his 2017 Achilles injury may be enough to convince Houston to do so on the third day instead of using a premium pick at the position. Although Lamar Miller had a solid year in 2018, a healthy Foreman would be able to push him and possibly forge a committee. At the very least, Foreman should be able to take over goal-line duties. Assuming no setbacks, he should be a solid late-round flier this summer.

From TheHuddle

Mar 26 1:00am ET

Houston Texans running back D'Onta Foreman looks to be much leaner than he was in his first two NFL seasons and looked quick and explosive during an impromptu workout on Sunday. Foreman rushed the ball seven times for negative-one yard in his only game in 2018 that was mainly spent rehabbing an Achilles rupture. He adopted a demanding exercise program and a healthier diet this offseason. The 22-year-old is determined to put 2018 behind him and contribute for Houston this season. He rushed for 327 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie in 2017 and could surpass Lamar Miller as the lead back in 2019 if he's fully healthy. Foreman could be an excellent sleeper target in point-per-reception leagues if he proves his health throughout the offseason.

From RotoBaller

Mar 25 12:43pm ET

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles) is reportedly 'much leaner' than he was during his first two NFL seasons and is currently 'a few pounds shy' of the 235-pound weight at which he was listed on the roster in 2018.

From TheHuddle

Feb 26 5:33pm ET

Houston Texans RB D'Onta Foreman (Achilles') has worked hard so far this offseason and impressed the Texans with how he's looked after missing all but one game last year.

Fantasy Spin: Foreman appears to be recovered from the troublesome ruptured Achilles' tendon. The Texans didn't want to take their chances last year and essentially let him rest the whole season. Heading into 2019 he'll make a formidable one-two punch with Lamar Miller. Miller will still be the lead back, but Foreman is one of the more talented handcuffs in fantasy football.
