Indianapolis Colts RBs Jordan Wilkins, Jonathan Williams and Spencer Ware are vying to be Marlon Mack's 'mixer,' according to head coach Frank Reich.
Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts RB Spencer Ware's one-year deal is worth $1.31 million with $150,000 guaranteed.
The Indianapolis Colts signed free-agent running back Spencer Ware to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday. In other moves, the team waived safety Isaiah Johnson and defensive tackle DeShawn Williams and released wide receiver James Wright. The 27-year-old Ware had impressive stretches in his time with the Chiefs. He broke out in 2016 when he took over the starting duties and ran 214 times for 921 yards (4.3 average) with three touchdowns on the ground while adding 33 catches for 447 yards and two receiving TDs. He'll add depth to a crowded backfield that includes Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines, Jordan Wilkins and Jonathan Williams. Ware is unlikely to see much action unless injuries occur ahead of him.
Free-agent RB Spencer Ware (Chiefs) signed an undisclosed deal with the Indianapolis Colts Tuesday, April 30.
Fantasy Spin: Ware will provide depth, but he could be a solid short-yardage option behind Marlon Mack in the offense. Take a look at him as an RB5 in traditional leagues, and he receives a boost in TD-only leagues.
Free-agent RB Spencer Ware (Chiefs) met with the New York Jets Wednesday, April 10.
The Indianapolis Colts hosted free-agent running back Spencer Ware for a visit on Tuesday. With Indy's backfield being led by Marlon Mack and with Nyheim Hines in a pass-catching role and Jordan Wilkins providing depth, the Colts would be a poor landing spot for Ware from a fantasy perspective. Ware had his best year with the Chiefs in 2016, rushing 214 times for 921 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and three touchdowns. He also added 33 receptions for 447 yards and two scores that year. Ware's 2019 fantasy value will be tied to wherever he surfaces.
Free-agent RB Spencer Ware (Chiefs) visited the Indianapolis Colts Tuesday, April 9.
Free-agent RB Spencer Ware (Chiefs) is visiting the Detroit Lions Monday, March 18.
Fantasy Spin: Ware can still be an RB4 if he lands in the right timeshare to run between the tackles.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware (hamstring) was taken off the final injury report for the AFC Championship on Sunday against the Patriots after practicing in full on Thursday and Friday. Ware hasn't played since the first week of December and will return to a backup role behind Damien Williams, limiting his DFS upside for fantasy owners.
Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 18, and is not on the injury report for the AFC Championship game.
Fantasy Spin: Ware has missed several weeks because of his injury but likely will be in uniform this week. His role in the offense is uncertain at this point, but he could still be considered a flex option in fantasy leagues.
Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Jan. 17.
Fantasy Spin: Ware appears to have a good chance to play against the New England Patriots, but owners will need to monitor the situation. He will be a risky fantasy option if he plays but can still be at least a flex option.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware (hamstring) practiced in full on Thursday after being limited in Wednesday's session. Ware sat out the divisional round after being limited in practice all week, but it looks like he's set to return for the AFC Championship against the Patriots on Sunday. He has been out since early December and will surely be the backup to Damien Williams if he's active, giving him limited fantasy upside this weekend.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware (hamstring) was limited in practice on Wednesday. Ware was limited in practice all week before sitting out in the divisional round, but he could return to face the Patriots in the AFC Championship. He has been out since Dec. 9 and would merely be backing up lead-back Damien Williams if he was active this Sunday. Ware doesn't have much DFS upside if he plays.
Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) is considered day-to-day because of his hamstring injury, according to head coach Andy Reid.
Fantasy Spin: Ware was limited during practice last week and was not able to play in the Divisional Round playoff game. Ware could be a game-time decision this week, so owners will need to monitor the situation.
Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) has been declared inactive for the Divisional Round playoff game.
The Kansas City Chiefs have declared SS Eric Berry, DT Kahlil McKenzie, WR Kelvin Benjamin, RB Spencer Ware, C Jimmy Murray, TE Deon Yelder and LB Dorian O'Daniel inactive for Divisional Playoffs.
Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) will participate in pregame warmups before the Divisional Round playoff game, but the team is not optimistic about his availability for the game, according to a source.
Fantasy Spin: Owners should check the inactive list for Ware's availability, but he would be a risky option if he plays. Damien Williams will be the starting running back if Ware is ruled out and can be a No. 2 fantasy running back or flex option in fantasy leagues.
Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware (hamstring) will work out prior to the divisional round game against the Colts on Saturday, but the hopes aren't high that he will be able to suit up, according to a source. That means that Damien Williams will once again be the main horse in this backfield with rookie Darrel Williams and Charcandrick West backing him up. Damien Williams was always the better DFS choice than Ware if he returned, but it looks like Williams will be safer for fantasy owners now.
Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 10, and is listed as questionable for the Divisional Round playoff game.
Fantasy Spin: Ware has been sidelined for about a month because of the injury but appears to have a decent chance to play against the Indianapolis Colts. He can be considered a No. 2 running back in playoff fantasy leagues if he is active.
