Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper's 71 receptions in 2018 were the fourth most among tight ends, and he also ranked seventh in receiving yards (660) and tied for ninth in touchdowns (4) at the position.
Fantasy Spin: Hooper doesn't have the athleticism to make big plays like the elite fantasy tight ends, but he was still a dependable option at a thin position. He's a safe, low-end TE1 heading into 2019.
Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper had a solid, if unspectacular, day against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17. Hooper caught five of his six targets for 67 yards but failed to cap that performance with a touchdown. This was actually one of the more middling performances from Hooper this year, who has been a little boom-or-bust based on his ability to find the end zone. Hooper has shown great growth this year, both as a tight and with Matt Ryan. Hopefully that can translate to a bigger and more consistent 2019 season.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught five of six targets for 67 yards in a 34-32 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17.
Fantasy Spin: Hooper went over 600 receiving yards for the year and finished with 71 catches. He won't be confused as an elite fantasy tight end any time soon, but with a lack of dependable options at the position, Hooper should be viewed as a low-end TE1 heading into 2019.
Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper had a tough game for the second week in a row against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16. After being held for zero catches in Week 15, Hooper had just two targets in this game. Fortunately, he managed to pull both of them in for 36 yards to reward fantasy owners who stuck with him. However, this has been a mixed season for his fantasy owners and this was ultimately another down day. The Buccaneers have had trouble against the tight end this season, but with how much better their defense has been the second half of the season, I would have a tough time trusting Hooper again this week.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper finished with two grabs for 36 yards on his two targets in Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers.
Fantasy Spin: Hooper has been banged up down the stretch which has limited his fantasy appeal. He could be a TE1 fantasy option in 2019, but avoid him in Week 17 in Tampa since he isn't 100 percent.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper faces the Carolina Panthers in Week 16, and the Panthers have allowed an NFL-high nine touchdowns to opposing tight ends this seasons.
Fantasy Spin: Hooper had five catches for 59 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers back in Week 2, and the likelihood of a return trip to the end zone makes him a TE1 option this weekend.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (ankle, knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 21, but is not on the injury report for Week 16.
Fantasy Spin: Hooper was not targeted in the last game but was targeted at least five times in each of the previous five games. He can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some deeper leagues but is not a must-start option.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee, ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.
Fantasy Spin: Hooper should be able to play barring a setback over the next day or two. Facing Luke Kuechly and company isn't ideal, but Hooper is a fringe TE1 nonetheless.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee, ankle) took part in practice as a limited participant on Wednesday, Dec. 19.
Fantasy Spin: Hooper was blanked in Week 15, so he isn't a great play heading into Week 16 against the defensive-minded Panthers even if he is able to suit up.
Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (hip, ribs) and CB Desmond Trufant (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 19. LB Bruce Carter (thigh), TE Austin Hooper (knee, ankle), DT Grady Jarrett (groin, shoulder) and TE Logan Paulsen (knee, ankle) were limited in their work. LB Deion Jones (foot) and DT Terrell McClain (toe) practiced in full.
Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper had a dreadful day against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15. Hooper was targeted just once in the game and failed to pull it in, registering a big zero on the day. It was always going to be a tough matchup for Hooper, and he will have left fantasy owners extremely frustrated. The worst part is that his Week 16 matchup is against the Carolina Panthers, who rank third worst in fantasy points surrendered to the tight end. Hooper should be able to have success in Week 16 and could be an interesting DFS option.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper was held catchless on his only target in Week 15's win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Fantasy Spin: Matt Ryan threw a dart on the goal line to Hooper, whose hands were on the ball until it was knocked free. The Falcons didn't need to rely on him the rest of the way. He's a low-end TE1 in Week 16 against a Carolina defense that has been miserable vs. the position in 2018. Hooper posted 16.9 points in PPR vs. this group in Week 2, his third-best day on the year. Trust him once again with no clearer options.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (ankle, knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 14, but is not on the injury report for Week 15.
Fantasy Spin: Hooper has been targeted at least five times in each of the last five games but has posted at least 50 yards in only one of those games. He can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some deeper leagues but is not a must-start option.
Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper (ankle, knee) will play in Week 15 against the Cardinals, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Hooper missed practice Wednesday and Thursday but returned on Friday, putting him on track to play. Hooper has a decent floor as a low-end TE1/high-end TE2 and has four touchdowns on the season. However, he hasn't had more than five catches or 44 yards in any of his last four games, while scoring once in that span.
Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper has caught at least four passes in each of his past five games in what has been a mini-breakout season for him. That being said, Hooper draws a tough assignment in Week 15 against an Arizona Cardinals defense that has done a good job at snuffing out opposing tight ends this season. Arizona is allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to the position in 2018. Normally a low-end TE1, the tough matchup downgrades Hooper into the TE2 range for Week 15.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee, ankle) was not able to practice Thursday, Dec. 13.
Fantasy Spin: If Hooper can't go again tomorrow then he could be headed for a doubtful tag. If that were the case then Logan Paulsen would become fantasy relevant, but he's not worth starting in the fantasy playoffs.
Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper (calf, foot, illness) missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday. It's not looking good for Hooper's status in Week 15 against the Cardinals, and with Logan Paulsen (ankle, knee) also hurt, the team might be down to Eric Saubert this weekend. If that's the case, Saubert shouldn't be on anyone's fantasy radar. Hooper has a low ceiling but decent floor as a low-end TE1, but he's in serious danger of missing the game against Arizona unless he practices on Friday.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 12 after suffering an injury in the Week 14 game. Beat writer Will McFadden seems to believe Hooper's status for Week 15 might be in doubt.
Fantasy Spin: Hooper was injured on Sunday and he is dealing with a legitimate injury, not simply resting because of a maintenance day. Check back Friday before finalizing your lineup for Week 15. It might not be a bad idea to scour the waiver wire and have some options just in case.
Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee, ankle), DT Grady Jarrett (groin, shoulder), WR Julio Jones (foot, calf) and DT Terrell McClain (toe) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 12. OG Ben Garland (back), LB Deion Jones (foot), TE Logan Paulsen (knee, ankle) and RB Ito Smith (neck) were listed as limited participants.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones (foot) and tight end Austin Hooper (leg) are not practicing on Wednesday. Jones missed practice time last week as well but played and tore up the Packers to the tune of eight catches, 106 yards and two touchdowns. Even in a potential matchup with Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson in Week 15, Jones will be a must-start WR1 if he plays. Hooper could be questionable this weekend and is already a low-end TE1 for fantasy owners.
