Player Notes
Dec 31 3:20pm ET

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (stinger) said he will not need offseason surgery to fix his nerve issues. Mariota didn't play in Week 17 after suffering a stinger and nerve damage in Week 16. He finishes 2018 with 2,528 yards (his fewest in four seasons), 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 14 games. The 25-year-old has yet to play a full season in the NFL and will remain an unattractive QB2 in a run-first offense in 2019 drafts.

Dec 31 3:13pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (neck) is not expected to need surgery to address the nerve issues that have plagued him recently.

Dec 30 7:03pm ET

The Tennessee Titans have declared OT Aaron Stinnie, DB Kenneth Durden, DE LaTroy Lewis, RB Jeremy McNichols, LB Brian Orakpo, QB Marcus Mariota and OT Tyler Marz inactive for Week 17.

Dec 30 11:40am ET

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (stinger), who is not expected to play on Sunday night in a must-win game against the Colts, would risk potential long-term injury if he plays, according to sources familiar with his injury. He will test his arm in pregame warmups but further damage would put his ability to throw the football at significant risk beyond this weekend, according to an independent spine specialist. The Titans are hoping the nerve damage will diminish with more rest and allow Mariota a chance to play in the playoffs if they win on Sunday night. Blaine Gabbert is expected to start, with Austin Davis backing him up. The Titans will definitely lean on the ground game, making pass-catchers like Corey Davis extremely hard to rely on in fantasy.

From RotoBaller

Dec 30 11:30am ET

Tennessee Titans will start backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert will start in place of injured Marcus Mariota (stinger). Mariota was previously listed as questionable but ESPN was told that an "independent spine specialist has warned the Titans that further damage would put Mariota's ability to throw the football at significant risk beyond this weekend." Gabbert is a quality veteran backup but he has a propensity to turn the ball over. So, expect the Titans to run the ball a lot.

Dec 30 9:23am ET

Contrary to a previous report, Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (neck, foot) is not expected play in Week 17's game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a nerve condition caused by a stinger, according to multiple sources familiar with his injury. An independent nerve specialist reportedly told the Titans that further damage could jeopardize Mariota's ability to throw the football beyond this weekend.

Fantasy Spin: Mariota was listed as questionable on the injury report and remains likely to test his arm during pregame warmups, for a contest which has playoff implications for both clubs. Blaine Gabbert is expected to start in his place but is not a great option in any fantasy format.

Dec 30 2:43am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (neck, foot), who was listed as questionable on the Week 17 injury report, will warm up with the intention of playing in Week 17 against the Indianapolis Colts, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Fantasy Spin: Rapoport acknowledges Mariota will not be completely healthy, but the Titans would much rather take him at less than 100 percent than start Blaine Gabbert. Tennessee's fortunes figure to rest on the shoulders of Derrick Henry as it is, although the Colts own a top-10 rush defense this season. Mariota should be viewed as a middling QB2 option this week.

Dec 30 1:10am ET

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (stinger), who is listed as questionable for Week 17 against the Colts on Sunday night, is going into pregame warmups on Sunday with the intention of playing, according to a source. Mariota won't be 100 percent and will have a better idea of his status before the game. Mariota is a very weak QB2 that also runs the risk of an in-game setback, which is why the team might also have both Blaine Gabbert and Austin Davis active in a must-win game. The Titans will surely try to run the ball as much as they can against Indy.

From RotoBaller

Dec 29 9:53pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota ranks 26th in passing yards, 29th in touchdowns and 22nd in passer rating this season, and he is averaging the third-fewest passing yards per game among starting quarterbacks.

Fantasy Spin: Mariota will show flashes of his potential, but between the injuries and inconsistent play, it's tough to view him as more than a week-to-week streaming option in fantasy leagues going forward.

Dec 28 6:13pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (neck, foot) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 28 and he is listed as questionable for the Week 17 showdown with the Indianapolis Colts. If he cannot start it would be QB Blaine Gabbert under center.

Fantasy Spin: Mariota is a risky fantasy play for Sunday's winner-take-all game, but the Titans are exponentially better if he is healthy and able to contribute.

Dec 28 3:53pm ET

Tennessee Titans LB Brian Orakpo (elbow) was limited in practice for a second straight day Friday, Dec. 28, but was ruled out for Week 17 against the Indianapolis Colts. QB Marcus Mariota (neck, foot) was also limited in practice for a second straight day Friday and is listed as questionable. WR Corey Davis (hamstring) and WR Tajae Sharpe (ankle) were also limited in practice Friday but no longer appear on injury report. LB Sharif Finch (shoulder) practiced fully all week and has also been removed from the injury report.

Dec 28 3:40pm ET

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (foot, neck) practiced on a limited basis for the second straight day on Friday but is officially questionable for Week 17's Sunday night matchup with the Colts. Head coach Mike Vrabel said the team will have further discussions on who will start under center. There is a scenario in which Mariota, Blaine Gabbert and Austin Davis are all active against Indy. In a must-win game that would get the Titans into the playoffs with a win, Mariota will likely start the game. However, at less than 100 percent, expect the Titans to lean on Derrick Henry and the running game as much as they can, making Mariota a weak QB2 option for fantasy owners. He's also at risk of suffering an in-game setback.

Dec 27 4:43pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (neck, foot) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 27.

Fantasy Spin: Mariota is trying to prepare for the Week 17 game, but he could be a game-time decision depending on how he feels. He has been held to under 200 yards in each of his last three games and should be kept on the bench even if he is able to play.

Dec 27 3:20pm ET

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (stinger) was throwing deep balls in practice on Thursday. It's a great sign that Mariota will be able to play in a must-win game in Week 17 against the Colts on Sunday night. Mariota's whole right side went numb after a hit last Saturday, but it looks like he'll gut it out this weekend. The Titans will hope to run the ball at will against Indy and avoid having to use Mariota's right arm as much as possible. He'll be a weak QB2 option for fantasy owners.

Dec 26 5:20pm ET

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (foot, neck) is sitting out of practice on Wednesday but said he's doing "everything in my power" in order to play in the Week 17 must-win game against the Colts on Sunday night. He admitted that his whole right side was "numb and tingly" when he took a hit last Saturday that forced him to miss the entire second half. Tennessee also signed Austin Davis on Monday, making it seem unlikely that Mariota will suit up. If he doesn't, it'll be Blaine Gabbert handing the ball off in this crucial game. Mariota would be a low-end QB2 option even if he plays.

From RotoBaller

Dec 26 4:50pm ET

Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota is working his way back from a stinger he suffered on Saturday night in Week 16, but his status for the Week 17 must-win game against the Colts likely won't come into further focus until later this week. Just taking it day to day, Mariota said during his regular weekly appearance on 104.5-FMs Wake Up Zone on Wednesday morning. I am doing my best, (trying) to get back. Thats all I can do. Ill do everything in my power to see if I can go. Again, it is just taking it one day at a time. If Mariota can't go, Blaine Gabbert would start under center on Sunday night, which would be a downgrade to Tennessee's pass-catcher. Either way, the Titans figure to lean on running back Derrick Henry and the ground game as they attempt to win a playoff spot. If Mariota starts, he'll be a low-upside QB2 at less than 100 percent. Head coach Mike Vrabel said Mariota's injury isn't the same elbow injury he suffered in Week 1 which caused numbness in his throwing hand for several weeks. Mariota could be active even if he's limited throughout the practice week.

From RotoBaller

Dec 26 4:23pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (neck, foot) is dealing with a foot ailment in addition to his neck stinger.

Dec 26 3:23pm ET

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (neck) could still play even if he doesn't practice this week. Mariota is dealing with a stinger he suffered in Week 16.

Dec 26 3:13pm ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (shoulder) was held out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Spin: If Mariota keeps missing practice this week then Blaine Gabbert will be under center for the season finale. Neither guy is a recommended start or DFS play going up against an underrated Indianapolis Colts pass defense.

Dec 26 10:33am ET

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota (neck) said the stinger he suffered made his entire right side numb and tingly, and the team added a quarterback to the roster.

Fantasy Spin: Mariota doesn't sound too confident he'll be able to play in the season finale. Blaine Gabbert is not an option in fantasy except if you're desperate in two-QB leagues.
