Carolina Panthers impending free-agent WR Devin Funchess could be an option for the Baltimore Ravens because his size would allow him to be an effective blocker when QB Lamar Jackson scrambles, according to Clifton Brown of BaltimoreRavens.com.
Fantasy Spin: Funchess would also be a big target for Jackson in the passing game, but after seeing the run-heavy approach the Ravens adopted with Jackson as the starter, it is hard to see any Baltimore receiver being a great fantasy option in 2019.
Carolina Panthers impending free-agent WR Devin Funchess likely will not re-sign with the Panthers this offseason because of WR D.J. Moore's performance during the second half of the season.
Fantasy Spin: Funchess probably will receive interest from some teams if he hits the free-agent market, but it is not known if he can find a starting job. He can be a No. 3 fantasy receiver depending on his role.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess is a healthy inactive for Week 17 against the Saints. With nothing on the line, the Panthers have elected to rest Funchess to close out the year. He faded for fantasy owners down the stretch, but it didn't help that quarterback Cam Newton (shoulder) struggled to get him the ball because of his injury. Funchess will finish with 44 catches for 549 yards and four touchdowns, a disappointment after he caught a career-high 63 passes for 840 yards and eight TDs last year. D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel will be the top receivers against New Orleans, but they have lower ceilings with rookie QB Kyle Allen likely to start.
The Carolina Panthers have declared DL Kawann Short, QB Cam Newton, CB Lorenzo Doss, WR Devin Funchess, OG Trai Turner, LB Efe Obada and TE Jason Vander Laan inactive for Week 17.
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess, a pending free agent, won't be back with the team in 2019.
Fantasy Spin: With the Panthers turning toward young wideouts D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel, Funchess' numbers (44 receptions-549 yards-4 TDs) were down markedly from 2017 (63-840-8). Still, expect a WR-needy team to throw some decent dollars at the 6-4, 225-pound wideout this offseason.
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess went without a reception and he was targeted just once in Week 15 against the New Orleans Saints on Monday, Dec. 17.
Fantasy Spin: Funchess started out all right, at least for PPR owners this season, posting three or more grabs in his first 10 outings. However, he has four targets and no offensive statistics over the past two contests. Avoid him in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 16.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess is likely to continue his recent poor form and struggle against the New Orleans Saints this week. Funchess has really struggled to perform in recent matchups, and will likely see limited opportunities this week. The Panthers have a multitude of receiving options that Cam Newton is able to use. With the impressive duo of D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel mixed in with elite running back Christian McCaffrey- Funchess will only be a starter in extremely deep leagues.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess failed to make any sort of impact in the game against the Cleveland Browns. Funchess failed to catch any of this three targets this week. Coming into this game Funchess looked as though he might struggle to make an impact with the impressive duo of Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore getting opportunities in the offense. Funchess will look to bounce back against the New Orleans Saints next week.
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess went without a catch on three targets in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns.
Fantasy Spin: Funchess appeared to be the No. 1 receiver heading into the season, but D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel have sped past him and he is irrelevant from a fantasy perspective at this point.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess shouldn't be considered for a start this week. Funchess returned from injury last week, and was clearly on a snap count, but managed to catch a single pass for a touchdown. Funchess seems to have fallen behind the dynamic duo of D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel, and so even against a team that has given up an average of 24.7 points to the position he shouldn't be considered for a start.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess caught a touchdown in his team's loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Funchess caught one of his three targets for 10 yards and a touchdown. Funchess has been struggling to make an impact in recent weeks, especially with the performances of fellow wide receivers D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel, and fantasy owners should be wary of playing him- especially if he reappears on the team's injury report this week.
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess had just one grab for 10 yards in Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he made it count for a touchdown on three targets.
Fantasy Spin: Funchess entered the game with a back injury, and he was expected to see limited snaps and that was certainly the case. He'll be a questionable fantasy play heading into Week 14 in Cleveland, too.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess (back) is active for Week 13 against the Buccaneers. Funchess is expected to play limited snaps in his return, so he's a risky WR4/flex, even against one of the league's worst defenses. Rookie D.J. Moore should be the primary receiver and has a lot of upside on Sunday, as do tight end Greg Olsen and Curtis Samuel.
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) is active for Week 13's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) is expected to play in Week 13's game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a limited basis.
Fantasy Spin: Funchess had been listed as questionable on the injury report after logging one full practice session and one limited session during the week. He should be viewed as a risky flex option this afternoon since he will see fewer offensive snaps than usual.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess (back) is anticipated to play on Sunday, albeit in a limited capacity. Funchess didn't suit up during last week's loss to the Seahawks but was able to return to practice in full on Thursday. The 24-year-old has been relatively ineffective this season, accumulating a subpar 516 yards and three touchdowns off of only 41 receptions and with the team indicating his limited usage even if he does play against Tampa, it is best if he remains out of all fantasy lineups, regardless of the format.
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) is listed as questionable for the Week 13 game, but head coach Ron Rivera said Funchess probably would have been listed as probable if that was still an option.
Fantasy Spin: Funchess has been targeted 18 times in his last three games but has been held under 50 yards in each of his last four games. He will have a favorable matchup this week but may only be a flex option for owners.
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back, not injury related) practiced in full Friday, Nov. 30, but he is still listed as questionable for Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Spin: Funchess has appeared to fall behind D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel, but he still could be a useful WR5 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams against a leaky Bucs pass defense.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Devin Funchess (back) got in a full practice on Friday but is questionable for Week 13 against the Buccaneers. The full practice suggests he'll be able to suit up, but you'll need to double check Sunday morning. In an excellent matchup against Tampa's soft secondary, Funchess might be worth a look in a flex spot this Sunday. Rookie D.J. Moore is also a fine option in what should be a high-scoring affair. Curtis Samuel's involvement will be reduced if Funchess plays.
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) was a full participant in practice Friday, Nov. 30, but is listed as questionable for Week 13 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. DE Julius Peppers (rest) was limited in practice Friday, Nov. 30, but does not appear on the injury report. S Colin Jones (non-injury), TE Chris Manhertz (ankle), QB Cam Newton (shoulder), S Mike Adams (rest, wrist), CB Donte Jackson (quad), C Ryan Kalil (rest), TE Greg Olsen (foot), S Eric Reid (shoulder), WR Curtis Samuel (hamstring), DT Kawann Short (calf), WR Torrey Smith (knee) and PK Graham Gano (knee) fully participated in practice Friday and have also been removed from the injury report.
