The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are among the list of teams that have shown interest in free agent safety Jamal Adams, according to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. The Seahawks released Adams earlier in the offseason, but general manager John Schneider didn't rule out the possibility of re-signing him. Now, Condotta notes that Seattle has "legitimate" interest, though they'll have to compete with the Niners and other teams. The three-time Pro Bowler has struggled to stay healthy lately, playing in just 10 games over his last two seasons and registering 51 tackles during that span.

Free agent safety Kevin Byard visited with the Chicago Bears on Saturday, and he is expected to visit with another organization on Sunday. Byard, a former first-team All-Pro selection, was traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for safety Terrell Edmunds and two late-round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. He played in 10 games for Philly, totaling 75 tackles, one interception, and three passes defended. However, the Eagles released him ahead of free agency, meaning he has a head start on the crowded safety market that includes Justin Simmons, Quandre Diggs, Jamal Adams, and more. Byard's 28 interceptions since entering the NFL in 2016 is the third-most among all players.

Veteran safety Keanu Neal (ribs) is being released with the designation of a failed physical by the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of 2024 free agency. The organization clears $2.25 million in cap space by cutting him. Neal, a former first-round pick by the Atlanta Falcons in 2016, posted 50 tackles, one fumble recovery, and one interception in nine games in his lone season with the Steelers. The 28-year-old was placed on Injured Reserve with a rib injury following the Week 10 game against the Green Bay Packers and did not play thereafter. He'll now head to free agency, where he could be joining his fourth team in four years. With former All-Pro safeties Kevin Byard, Eddie Jackson, Justin Simmons, Quandre Diggs, and Jamal Adams on the market, he could have a short list of teams interested after those players reach deals with new teams.

The Denver Broncos are releasing All-Pro safety Justin Simmons ahead of free agency. The move is one of the big surprises of the offseason thus far, but the organization has significant cap issues. His release will save the team $14.5 million on the cap. Originally a third-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Simmons has been named to two Pro Bowl rosters and four All-Pro teams. Since entering the league, his 30 interceptions lead all players. Now, he's set to become a free agent in a loaded safety class that includes Kevin Byard, Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs, Jordan Poyer, and more.

The New York Jets have "zero" interest in a reunion with recently released safety Jamal Adams, according to multiple sources, despite social-media rumblings that Adams wants to return to the Jets. Adams finished last season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 54.9, which ranked 95th among safeties who played 20 percent of their team's snaps. The former first-rounder has four interceptions in 80 career games and has become an injury liability as well. The 28-year-old Adams played in only nine games in 2023 in his fourth and final year with the Seattle Seahawks and had 48 tackles (34 solo) and two passes defensed. Adams was a Pro Bowler three straight years from 2018-20, but he's played in just 10 games the last two years and has become untrustworthy in IDP fantasy formats.

Free-agent S Jamal Adams (Seahawks) may have some interest in returning to the New York Jets, but multiple sources report that the feeling is not mutual from the team's perspective.

The Seattle Seahawks are releasing three-time Pro Bowl safeties Jamal Adams (knee) and Quandre Diggs on Tuesday, according to sources. The moves save the team $27.5 million in cash on this year's salary cap and will give Seattle's secondary a much different look this year under new head coach Mike MacDonald. Adams, 28, who played in only nine games in 2023 due to injury, was going to make a non-guaranteed $16.5 million this year and count $26.9 million against the salary cap. The former first-rounder in 2017 has game-changing defensive abilities as a safety, but he's become too big of an injury concern as he approaches his 30s. Diggs, 30, has been a Pro Bowler four times in his career (from 2020-22) remained productive in 2023 with a career-high 95 tackles (63 solo) and an interception in 17 starts.

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams (knee) has been placed on the injured reserve on Saturday. The star safety won't be available for the final two games of the regular season. Adams has been dealing with a lingering knee issue for quite some time. The Seahawks finally decided it was time to shut him down and let him get back to full health. The expectation is that Julian Love will see more playing time in the secondary for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
