2019 RTSports Outlook

Sutton had an erratic rookie season. He made some big plays and had some big games, but also disappeared in others. He wasn't too consistent but erratic quarterback play didn't help matters for Sutton. A new quarterback and offense should be a positive for Sutton this year. Sutton made plenty of big plays last year, though, averaging 16.8 yards per reception. He showed his explosiveness. He will start from day one this year and could emerge as the go-to target in this offense. Sutton has a great combination of size and speed. He does a good job of making the catch above the defenders. He is a tall, strong target. He lacks a little polish, though, and doesn't always play to his size.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Sutton should be a little more consistent than last year but likely will be a little boom or bust. He should be considered a top No. 3 for fantasy teams. He can get around 65 receptions for 1,000 yards and seven or eight touchdowns. His stock is on the rise.

Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton said he has spent the offseason working with retired WR Anquan Boldin to improve his route-running and with trainer Tony Villani to boost his speed.

Fantasy Spin: It sounds like Sutton is putting in the work, and while he was a bit of a disappointment after Emmanuel Sanders was injured last season, he still has a chance to emerge as Denver's top receiver. He's a WR4 with upside entering 2019.

May 24 1:00pm ET

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton traveled to Florida to train with Tony Villani of XPE Sports ahead of the team's offseason program, and he's now working with former NFL wideout Anquan Boldin on his route-running techniques. Sutton focused on being more explosive with the ball in his hands while working with Villani. The 23-year-old will be leaned on more heavily heading into his second year, especially if Emmanuel Sanders is slow to recover from his Achilles injury. He'll be a popular target in 2019 drafts after catching 42 passes for 704 yards and four touchdowns in his rookie season with Case Keenum throwing him passes.

May 22 12:50pm ET

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton is aiming to improve in the red zone heading into his second NFL season. Last year, 176 players had more than Sutton's two red-zone catches (both touchdowns) and 80 wideouts had more than his eight targets inside the 20. Personally in the red zone, I think Im one of the biggest threats that (defensive backs) go against, Sutton said. Every DB that I played against or will play against will probably say the same thing. They might not show it, but they know. At 6-foot-4, 216 pounds, the second-year wideout will be looking to break out with quarterback Joe Flacco now under center.

Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton is one of the players QB Joe Flacco said he is 'excited' to work with in 2019.

Fantasy Spin: A lot was expected out of Sutton after Emmanuel Sanders went down late last season, but he didn't see a jump in production. He will now have Joe Flacco throwing him the ball, which doesn't exactly move the needle either. Sutton enters 2019 in the WR3/WR4 range.

Dec 30 10:03pm ET

Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton caught one of his three targets for 25 yards in a 23-9 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 17.

Fantasy Spin: Sutton had a solid rookie campaign, but he did struggle a bit down the stretch as the No. 1 option after Emmanuel Sanders suffered an injury. Still, his long-term upside remains promising, and Sutton can be a WR4 with upside in 2019.
