2020 RTSports Outlook

Keenum had an erratic first season as the starter for the Broncos. He had too many turnovers, getting picked off 15 times on the season. He also lost three fumbles, giving him 18 total turnovers. He did have 20 total touchdowns and finished 110 yards shy of a 4,000-yard season. He showed well at times, having six multiple touchdown games and three 300-yard games. His up and down play puts his future a little in doubt going forward. He was traded to the Redskins this offseason and will compete for their starting job this year with rookie Dwayne Haskins and Colt McCoy. Keenum has two straight seasons with 3,500-plus passing yards and 20-plus touchdowns. Keenum moves around the pocket pretty well and has a good arm. He had some accuracy issues earlier in his career, but really made strides in that area in recent seasons. He plays very well outside of the pocket and throws an improving deep ball. He forces some throws, though, and needs to do a better job of taking care of the ball.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Keenum was 19th in fantasy quarterback scoring last year. A new more pass-friendly offense is a positive for Keenum but he is not guaranteed to start. And even if he is the starter, he has been mediocre in a starting role to date. He might be worth a spot start or two but that is about it.

Free-agent QB Case Keenum (Redskins) officially signed with the Cleveland Browns Wednesday, March 25. Official terms of the contract were not disclosed.

From TheHuddle

Mar 16 5:50pm ET

The Cleveland Browns agreed to a three-year, $18 million deal with quarterback Case Keenum on Monday, according to a source. The deal will include $10 million guaranteed. The 32-year-old veteran signal-caller will serve as Baker Mayfield's backup in Cleveland. Keenum enjoyed the best season of his career in 2017 with Minnesota when he started 14 games and took the Vikings deep into the playoffs. He's predictably come back down to Earth the last two years with the Broncos and Redskins. The depth behind Mayfield was in question last year, but Keenum will provide an experienced and reliable backup. He won't have any fantasy value unless Mayfield is hurt or benched.

Free-agent QB Case Keenum (Redskins) is receiving significant interest from the Cleveland Browns, according to a source.

Jan 22 2:10pm ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Case Keenum believes he's still capable of being a starter in the NFL, but he's not expecting to return to Washington in 2020 with Dwayne Haskins in the picture. The Redskins drafted Haskins with the 15th overall pick in 2019 for a reason. The soon-to-be 32-year-old signal-caller was impressed with the progress that Haskins made toward the end of the season. "I think Dwayne did an incredible job towards the end of the season, adapting and getting a lot better," Keenum said. "I think it's his team moving forward." Haskins has some nice weapons in Terry McLaurin, Steven Sims Jr. and Derrius Guice, but he won't be seen as anything more than an upside QB2 in fantasy drafts this fall.

Washington Redskins impending free-agent QB Case Keenum may receive interest from the Detroit Lions this offseason, in the opinion of the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett. The Lions showed interest in Keenum last offseason.

From TheHuddle

Dec 30 9:20am ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Case Keenum completed 18 of 37 passes for 206 yards against the Cowboys on Sunday, with a touchdown and a pick to round out his line. The final week of 2019 was just about business as usual for Keenum, as he never quite excelled in an admittedly poor Redskins offense. Time will tell what's next for the veteran journeyman, as he is set to become a free agent. Neither he nor Dwayne Haskins played consistently well enough to guarantee themselves a starting role next year, but Haskins at least has youth on his side in a rebuilding organization. If Keenum winds up leaving Washington and joining a team with a more attractive collection of skill players, his future value would get a lift. Then again, it'd be surprising to see him win a starting job in Week 1 no matter what team he's with.

Dec 29 8:03pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum completed 18-of-37 passes for 206 yards, one touchdowns and one interception in a Week 17 lopsided loss against the Dallas Cowboys. RB Adrian Peterson ended up with 13 runs for a team-high 78 yards, while WR Steven Sims Jr. posted five catches for a team-best 81 yards and a score. TE Hale Hentges also surprised with four catches for 62 yards on seven targets. DE Montez Sweat also wrapped up the season with two sacks, five solo tackles and three quarterback hits.

From TheHuddle

Dec 27 10:50am ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Case Keenum may be able to lift the fantasy profiles of a couple of his pass-catchers on Sunday, but he's far from a shoe-in to help fantasy owners in the same way. No one really knows which Cowboys team is going to show up in any given week, but they do have to win this game in order to keep what is left of their playoff hopes alive. As such, Keenum should have to put up with a spirited effort from a Cowboys Defense that has given up the 11th-fewest points per game to opposing offenses. In Keenum's back-and-forth journey from starter to injured to healthy backup this season, there's been very little fantasy success to hang your hat on. This is not a safe road to travel in championship week.

Dec 23 10:53pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum is expected to start the Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys with QB Dwayne Haskins (ankle) ruled out by interim head coach Bill Callahan.

Fantasy Spin: Keenum faces a tough matchup against a Dallas defense which will be missing Leighton Vander Esch, but will also be playing with a lot of desperation. It isn't a good matchup for fantasy owners in seasonal play or DFS.

From TheHuddle

Dec 22 9:20pm ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Case Keenum was called on to fill in for the injured Dwayne Haskins in Sunday's overtime shootout against the Giants. The veteran completed 16 of 22 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown, adding a game-tying rushing touchdown in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter for good measure. Keenum's status as the QB for Week 17 will hinge on the severity of Haskins' ankle injury, as well as whether the Redskins feel compelled to take any chances with the rookie's health in a meaningless season finale. If Keenum holds onto the starting job to close out the year, it won't significantly alter the outlook for Redskins' pass-catchers.

Dec 22 9:13pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum replaced the injured QB Dwayne Haskins (ankle) in the second half of the Week 16 game against the New York Giants and led a rally to force overtime, finishing 16-of-22 for 158 yards and a touchdown while also running for a score.

Fantasy Spin: It's uncertain if Haskins will be ready for the finale against the Dallas Cowboys, but if not it could be Keenum closing up shop for the Redskins on the 2019 season.

From TheHuddle

Nov 4 3:20pm ET

The Washington Redskins haven't made a decision on their starting quarterback at the moment, and interim head coach Bill Callahan said he'll take his time and announce it after the team's Week 10 bye. The 'Skins didn't put much on rookie Dwayne Haskins' plate in a tough matchup against the Bills in his first ever start, and he went 15-for-22 for just 144 yards with no interceptions or touchdowns. The 22-year-old could be the franchise QB in the long term, but he's not a good redraft option even if he continues to start. Case Keenum (concussion) is the better bet for fantasy purposes if he returns as the starter in Week 11, but even he would be a low-end QB2 option the rest of the way.

From RotoBaller

Nov 3 11:43am ET

The Washington Redskins have declared CB Aaron Colvin, FS Montae Nicholson, CB Deshazor Everett, QB Case Keenum, TE Vernon Davis, RB Chris Thompson and OG Wes Martin inactive for Week 9.

From TheHuddle

Nov 1 8:13pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (concussion) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 1, but has been ruled out for Week 9.

Fantasy Spin: Dwayne Haskins will receive his first career start with Keenum sidelined but should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Nov 1 5:43pm ET

Washington Redskins S Deshazor Everett (ankle), S Montae Nicholson (ankle) and RB Chris Thompson (toe) were unable to practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills. TE Vernon Davis (concussion) and QB Case Keenum (concussion) were limited in practice all week and have also been ruled out. DT Treyvon Hester (elbow) was a full participant in practice despite getting added to the injury report on Friday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable. RB Adrian Peterson (ankle), CB Quinton Dunbar (hamstring), LB Josh Harvey-Clemons (hamstring), OG Wes Martin (chest), DB Jeremy Reaves (concussion), CB Josh Norman (thigh, hand) and WR Steven Sims (toe) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Nov 1 2:40pm ET

Washington Redskins quarterback Case Keenum (concussion), running back Chris Thompson (toe) and tight end Vernon Davis (concussion) have all been ruled out for Week 9 against the Bills. Rookie Dwayne Haskins will make his first career start under center, but he's a last-gasp QB2 for those desperate owners against a strong Bills Defense on the road. Thompson and Davis remain week-to-week with their injuries. Adrian Peterson should continue to be the bell-cow in this backfield, but he has very little upside in this poor offense in a terrible matchup. Jeremy Sprinkle hasn't done much with Davis out in recent weeks, and that shouldn't change this Sunday.

From RotoBaller

Oct 31 6:13pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (concussion) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 31.

Fantasy Spin: Keenum has a few days to pass the concussion tests if he wants to play in Week 9. Dwayne Haskins likely would start if Keenum is ruled out, but both players should be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 31 3:50pm ET

Washington Redskins interim head coach Bill Callahan said that quarterback Case Keenum (concussion) remains in the concussion protocol, but it's still possible that he plays in Week 9 against the Bills if he feels better on Friday. Keenum has been taking third-team repetitions at practice behind rookie Dwayne Haskins and Colt McCoy. It's more of a long shot that he'll play at this point, which would put Haskins in line to make his first career start. It would be bad timing, as he's looked really bad in limited duty so far this year, and Buffalo's defense is one of the scariest in the league. Either way, fantasy owners would have to be desperate to use Washington's starting QB this weekend, even in two-quarterback formats.

From RotoBaller

Oct 30 4:53pm ET

Washington Redskins QB Case Keenum (concussion) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Spin: Keenum will need to progress through the concussion protocol but it's promising to see him back on the field in some capacity. Fantasy managers in two-quarterback leagues will need to stand by.
