2020 RTSports Outlook

Funchess was a disappointment last season despite starting much of the season for the Panthers. His season started fine, having five of his first six games with 50-plus yards but didn't top that mark the rest of the season. He ended his season with a thud, doing very little his last eight games. A fresh start with the Colts is a plus for Funchess. He should compete for a starting job in a pass-first offense. Funchess has great size for the receiver position. He runs good routes and is a tough cover for cornerbacks because of his size. He lacks some moves in space, though, and his hands aren't the best. Funchess also lacks consistency at the position. Fantasy Outlook: Funchess has been little help to fantasy teams to date but a move to Indy is a good one for him. He could finally reach his potential if he starting in this offense. He should be considered a sleeper candidate for the coming season. He could get around 60 receptions for 900 yards with six scores.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Funchess has never been one to score touchdowns in bunches (21 TD over his four-year career), nor has he been a player who racks up a lot of yards, either (has averaged 550 receiving yards per season). This can be partially blamed on a Carolina Panthers offense where QB Cam Newton cared more about keeping the ball himself or dumping off to tight ends and running backs than hitting receivers 15 yards downfield, but Funchess has not proven that he can separate from cornerbacks or consistently make plays on a weekly basis. The days of Funchess being a fantasy flop might end in 2019, however. With Funchess signing with the Indianapolis Colts, it could either mean a new lease on fantasy life or it could prove once and for all that he is not worthy of a fantasy roster spot. Andrew Luck is a humongous step up from Newton in the passing department and turned Eric Ebron into an All-World tight end last season, so Funchess could not have picked a better organization to sign with. The No. 2 WR job is Funchess to lose heading into the season, and if he holds onto it throughout he could give fantasy owners 900 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. If Funchess continues to underachieve this year than there is not much fantasy hope left for him.

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Devin Funchess received a one-year, $2.5 million contract, which includes a $1 million signing bonus, $1.2 base salary, $50,000 workout bonus and $15,625 each game active. The deal also contains another $3.75 million in incentives, bringing the max to $6.25 million.

The Green Bay Packers agreed to an undisclosed deal with wide receiver Devin Funchess on Tuesday, according to sources. Funchess made it less than a full game in his only season with the Colts in 2019 when he suffered a clavicle injury in the season opener against the Chargers. He'll bring a big frame as a weapon for quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the passing game, but the Packers are fully expected to address the position in the draft as well. Funchess was a second-round pick of the Panthers in 2015 and has 164 catches for 2,265 yards and 21 touchdowns in his career. He'll add depth behind Davante Adams and will have to compete with Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Jake Kumerow and Allen Lazard for playing time.

Mar 24 7:33pm ET

Unrestricted free-agent WR Devin Funchess (Colts) is expected to sign an undisclosed contract with the Green Bay Packers, according to sources.

Fantasy Spin: A broken clavicle derailed any chance of a decent season for Funchess in his lone year with the Indianapolis Colts. There will be a big upgrade at quarterback after going from Jacoby Brissett to Aaron Rodgers. However, Green Bay will remain committed to the run, so expectations should be held in check, as if they weren't already for the plodding, big-bodied former Carolina Panther. Funchess has limited appeal in any setting, mostly because of his size, and he could emerge as a presence in the red zone. Draft him as nothing more than a late-round flier.

From TheHuddle

Dec 2 9:33pm ET

Indianapolis Colts WR Devin Funchess (clavicle) will not return from the Reserve/Injured list, head coach Frank Reich confirmed. Tests revealed that the wide receiver's surgically-repaired clavicle will not be 100 percent healed by the time the team faced its Wednesday, Dec. 4 deadline to decide whether to return to him to the active roster or revert him to IR for the rest of the season.

Fantasy Spin: Funchess posted just three receptions for 32 yards in his only appearance of the season for the Colts back in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers. The veteran is still just 25 years old, so he has plenty of time to make an impact in the league. It just won't be in 2019.

From TheHuddle

Dec 1 12:40pm ET

The Indianapolis Colts don't plan on activating wide receiver Devin Funchess (collarbone) off Injured Reserve by the deadline of Dec. 4, according to sources. It means that Funchess' 2019 season is over. He's recovering from a fractured collarbone suffered in the season opener, and the plate inserted into his bone didn't work out as hoped. Funchess had three catches for 32 yards in the season opener before suffering his injury. With T.Y. Hilton (calf) out again this weekend against the Titans, Zach Pascal, Chester Rogers and Marcus Johnson will be Indy's top three receivers.

From RotoBaller

Dec 1 10:03am ET

Indianapolis Colts WR Devin Funchess (collarbone) is not expected to be activated from the Reserve/Injured list before the deadline Wednesday, Dec. 4, meaning that he will be ineligible to play again this season, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Spin: Funchess is recovering from a fractured collarbone but he hasn't healed enough because the plate inserted into the break did not work as well as hoped. With T.Y. Hilton (calf) also sidelined at the moment, the Colts are very thin at the wide receiver position, with oft-injured Parris Campbell, Zach Pascal and Chester Rogers making shaky flex options for deeper fantasy formats.

From TheHuddle

Nov 27 11:03pm ET

Indianapolis Colts WR Devin Funchess (clavicle) won't return to the field in Week 13, according to head coach Frank Reich Wednesday, Nov. 27. The window for the Colts to add Funchess to the active roster from the Reserve/Injured list expires Wednesday, Dec. 4, at which point he'll be shut down for the season if not activated. 'He's not going to make it this week, not because of anything we've learned in the last couple of days,' Reich said. '... We've had no setbacks, there's been nothing negative, the reality is from where we've got to be and where we need to be, he won't make it there on Sunday.'

Fantasy Spin: The Colts could sure use him, especially if they have hopes of making some noise in the playoffs. WRs T.Y. Hilton and Parris Campbell have both battled injuries, while Zach Pascal and Chester Rogers haven't been able to step up as consistent contributors.

From TheHuddle

Nov 20 11:23pm ET

Indianapolis Colts WR Devin Funchess (collarbone) has not yet been activated from the Reserve/Injured list, so it is extremely unlikely he plays in Week 12 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Spin: Funchess hasn't shed his non-contact jersey, and the team is unlikely to rush him and risk aggravating his injury. Fantasy owners will want to see him officially return and knock off the rust, making it through a full game without any setbacks. Unfortunately for most owners, time is running out for that to happen in the fantasy regular season.

From TheHuddle

Nov 14 12:53pm ET

Indianapolis Colts WR Devin Funchess (clavicle) has returned this week to put in limited work in practice, but isn't likely to play Sunday, Nov. 17. '(The) bone has gotta heal,' Funchess said Thursday, Nov. 14, of his broken collarbone suffered in the season opener.

Fantasy Spin: The Colts, with their banged-up WR corps, and some deeper-league fantasy owners could use Funchess right now, but don't expect him back for a couple of weeks by most indications.

From TheHuddle

Nov 14 12:50pm ET

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Devin Funchess (collarbone) was limited in practice on Thursday for the second straight day this week, but he's unlikely to make his return in Week 11 against the Jaguars. "Bone's gotta heal," Funchess said. Funchess is trying to come back after breaking his collarbone in the season-opening overtime loss to the Chargers, but Week 12 or 13 is more realistic. He could return as the No. 2 wideout across from T.Y. Hilton (calf) when both are healthy, but Funchess isn't the greatest stash in shallow leagues given the team's crowded receiver corps that also features Zach Pascal, Marcus Johnson, Chester Rogers and rookie Parris Campbell (hand). Pascal is your best bet for fantasy production if Hilton misses another game.

From RotoBaller

Nov 13 9:53pm ET

Indianapolis Colts WR Devin Funchess (clavicle) was able to practice Wednesday, Nov. 13 for the first time since the regular-season opener. He is eligible to return in Week 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but his rehab has lingered. He wore a red non-contact jersey on Wednesday, so being exposed to contact is the remaining hurdle for him before he is cleared to play. '(Funchess) has to get certain things done and scans done to make sure he's fully cleared and ready to go,' head coach Frank Reich said.

Fantasy Spin: Funchess is worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues down the stretch, although the window for other Indy receivers not named T.Y. Hilton to shine might be closing. The latter did not practice Wednesday, but is inching closer to a return.

From TheHuddle

Nov 13 8:10pm ET

Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich said that wide receiver Devin Funchess (clavicle), who was put on Injured Reserve after the season opener, returned to practice on Wednesday ahead of Week 11 against the Jaguars. Funchess had three catches for 32 yards against the Chargers in Week 1, and he could have a significant role down the stretch for the Colts in a crowded receiver room that features T.Y. Hilton, Zach Pascal, Chester Rogers, Marcus Johnson and Parris Campbell. He could return to game action sometime within the next three weeks, but whether he can handle contact in practice will be the determining factor. For now, continue to leave Funchess to the waiver wire.

From RotoBaller

Nov 13 2:53pm ET

Indianapolis Colts WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) will participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Fantasy Spin: Funchess is currently on the Reserve/Injured list but could return to the lineup in the near future. He probably will serve as the No. 2 receiver for the Colts when is back in the lineup and could a flex option in some deeper leagues.

From TheHuddle

Nov 11 6:23pm ET

Indianapolis Colts WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) is expected to participate in practice this week.

Fantasy Spin: Funchess probably is a few weeks away from returning to the lineup but should be at least a limited participant during practice this week. He should have some fantasy value when he returns and can be a No. 3 receiver or flex option.

From TheHuddle

Nov 7 2:23am ET

Indianapolis Colts WR Devin Funchess (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 6, and the team will 'probably' wait until next week to put Funchess back on the field, per head coach Frank Reich.
