2024 RTSports Outlook

The Dolphins picked Achane in the third round of this year's draft. He is a slasher that could be a good fit for the Dolphins running game. He has a chance to play a big role his rookie season for Miami. The backs ahead of him on the depth chart aren't locks for huge playing time. Achane is a very small back, but has a great speed and big-play ability. He can get to the next level in a hurry and has great moves in space. He runs well between the tackles despite lacking a little size for the position. He will drop some passes and his small size is a bit of a concern.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Achane is a good mid-round gamble. He could have some big games this year in this offense. Achane seems a great fit for the Dolphins running scheme. Look for around 1,200 total yards, 30 receptions and six or so touchdowns.

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane has impressed fans after showing up to voluntary offseason workouts this month looking to be in excellent shape physically. Already one of the most impressive offensive rookies in 2023 with the most yards per rush (7.8) with a minimum of 100 attempts, his fantasy stock is soaring heading into his sophomore campaign this fall. Achane stands at only 5-foot-9, 188 pounds, but he packs a punch and is one of the fastest players overall in the NFL already. The only knocks on the 22-year-old are that he missed six games with injury, and that Raheem Mostert, who scored 21 total touchdowns in 2023, is still around. Achane had 103 carries for 800 yards and eight touchdowns in 11 regular-season games (four starts). Even with Mostert around, Achane, when healthy, has some of the most upside of any RB in the league.

Jan 15 12:00pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane wasn't able to break off any huge plays in the wild-card loss on Saturday night like he has throughout the regular season. The rookie back capped off his first season with a sub-par performance after registering nine yards on six carries and hauling in three of his six targets for 21 yards. His longest play of the night was an 11-yard catch-and-run where he showed off some elusiveness but ultimately wasn't able to find much room. After taking a backseat to Raheem Mostert for most of the season, Achane quickly became one of the hottest waiver-wire additions after displaying astounding explosiveness. He played his way into a lead role until he got hurt, so he'll likely receive more opportunities as the lead back next year. He'll probably be a higher fantasy draft pick next season than his counterpart in the backfield.

Jan 12 10:50pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane may see more than his fair share of work on Saturday due to both the weather and Raheem Mostert's (ankle/knee) questionable health status. In a game that's close to breaking records for the coldest NFL game at kickoff, there's likely to be more emphasis on the ground game than airing it out and risking turnovers in freezing cold wind. When these two teams faced off in Germany earlier in the year, Achane didn't get the chance to play against the middle-of-the-pack run defense. While the Kansas City Chiefs may not have given up the most rushing touchdowns, they're one the worst in yards per carry allowed at 4.5, and Achane is one of the best at explosive run rates. That combined could mean a big day for Achane.

Jan 10 6:20pm ET

Both Miami Dolphins running backs De'Von Achane (ribs, toe) and Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee) were limited in Wednesday's practice for the second straight day as they prepare to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday in a wild-card playoff contest. Achane has looked good in Miami's lead-back role the last two weeks with Mostert out, but the Dolphins are expecting both Mostert and receiver Jaylen Waddle (ankle) back this weekend, which could give Achane some serious bust potential in DFS as the third-most expensive RB on DraftKings this weekend. Mostert is right behind Achane as the fourth-most expensive RB, also giving him bust potential. In his first game back in a tough road matchup against the defending Super Bowl champions, Mostert, Achane and Jeff Wilson Jr. could all be deployed in a three-headed monster attack.

Jan 9 7:30pm ET

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane (ribs, toe) remains on the injury report for wild-card weekend and was listed as limited on Tuesday's estimated practice report. Achane should be fine to face the Kansas City Chiefs this Saturday. He was Miami's lead RB the last two games with Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee) inactive and he responded with 163 rushing yards on 24 carries for a touchdown while also catching five of six targets for 35 yards and another score. As a result, the explosive 22-year-old is trending up heading into the postseason and is currently the third-most expensive RB on DraftKings, behind only the Rams' Kyren Williams and Bucs' Rachaad White. There's optimism that Mostert will return this weekend, though, giving Achane bust potential if Mostert, the leader in total TDs in 2023, is back in the fold.

Jan 8 10:20am ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane had full control of the backfield once again with Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) missing another game. He didn't turn that into an explosive performance like he did against the Baltimore Ravens, but he was able to finish as a mid-level RB2. The rookie finished with 56 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries and caught his lone target for five yards. The Dolphins offense was bottled up for most of this game as they delivered a disappointing performance and lost the second seed in the process. Achane will likely be a higher pick in next year's fantasy drafts after showing a great explosive ability on the ground and collecting five finishes of RB8 or higher.

Jan 7 12:00am ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane found pay dirt again in Week 17 and got back to his big yardage totals for the first time since Week 13. His efforts on the ground were the main reason that the Dolphins didn't get blown out by even more against the Baltimore Ravens. Now, in a final regular season game that carries a bunch of playoff implications, Achane could be the number-one back again if Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) has to miss a second consecutive game. If Mostert gets downgraded, Achane's value increases to more of a RB1, but he remains at an RB2 level until that officially gets announced. Buffalo ranks right in the middle of the pack against the run this season, so there are ways to beat them on the ground.

Jan 4 6:10pm ET

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane (ribs, toe) put in a second straight day of limited practice on Thursday and said he's good to go for the Week 18 regular season finale against the Buffalo Bills in a game that will decide the winner of the AFC East. Achane picked up a rib injury in the Week 17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens but is fully expected to play this weekend and could handle lead-back duties for the Dolphins for the second straight week if Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee), who hasn't practiced this week, is unavailable again. Even if Mostert is active, Achane might be the better DFS upside play in fantasy for the price. The 22-year-old had 137 scrimmage yards and a receiving touchdown in Week 17 and is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball. Jeff Wilson Jr. would have an expanded role again, too, if Mostert can't play.

Jan 3 4:50pm ET

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane (ribs, toe) continues to manage multiple injuries and was limited in Wednesday's practice. Achane is dealing with a new rib issue while playing through a toe injury in recent weeks. The explosive rookie was Miami's backfield leader in the Week 17 blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens, carrying the ball 14 times for 107 yards while catching four of his five targets for 30 yards and a touchdown. Achane's fantasy value for the Week 18 divisional clash against the Buffalo Bills will all depend on whether Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee) is able to return. The rookie could once again be Miami's lead ball-carrier even if Mostert is available on Sunday night. In Week 4 against the Bills, Achane had eight carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns, so he'll be an upside RB2 for fantasy managers this weekend.

Dec 31 5:50pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane finished with 107 yards off 14 carries in Sunday's blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens. He added four catches, with one resulting in a touchdown, for 30 yards. Raheem Mostert (knee, ankle) wasn't active, so the rookie was the featured back for Miami in Week 17. Although he was productive, which was appreciated by fantasy managers, his efforts weren't enough to avoid a decisive Ravens' win. Without question, Achane has had a fantastic season, and he remains a must-start in the AFC East clash with the Buffalo Bills in Week 18. His fantasy stock will increase even more if Mostert misses a second consecutive contest.

Dec 31 4:30pm ET

Miami's RB Devon Achane ran for 107 yards on 14 carries but no touchdowns in Sunday's loss in Baltimore.

Dec 30 1:00pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane hasn't gotten close to his same level of production ever since returning from injury. He was dealing with a toe issue again this week but has been removed from the injury report and is good to go against the Baltimore Ravens. Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) is currently listed as questionable, but he's received the same tag for knee and ankle issues since Week 11 but continues to play. Mostert has been the clear number-one back over the last few weeks so Achane will work with limited touches against the seventh-ranked defense against opposing backfields. The Ravens have only allowed four total touchdowns to running backs this season, so fantasy managers will want to temper any expectations for Achane in this contest.

Dec 28 1:30pm ET

Miami Dolphins rookie running back De'Von Achane (toe) was back on the practice field on Thursday after missing Wednesday's session. However, Achane didn't do much after the stretching period with the team, so he'll likely be listed as limited on the final report. The 22-year-old's toe injury is something he's been dealing with for several weeks, but it's unlikely to keep him from playing in another big game this weekend on the road in Baltimore against the Ravens. And with Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee) expected to play through a new ankle injury in Week 17, the third-rounder from Texas A&M could have an expanded role, albeit against a tough defense. Achane hasn't exploded for fantasy managers like he did early in his rookie year, but he's still averaging a healthy 8.06 yards per carry with seven touchdowns and remains an intriguing upside RB2/3 play in fantasy lineups.

From RotoBaller

Dec 27 3:40pm ET

Miami Dolphins running backs Raheem Mostert (ankle) and De'Von Achane (toe) were not present with the team for practice on Wednesday. Both running backs are likely just being rested ahead of a huge Week 17 battle against the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday. Mostert has been rested during the first practice of the week pretty much all year, although he did tweak his ankle in the Week 16 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve. We'll continue to keep a close eye on both Mostert's and Achane's practice status the rest of the week, but we'd expect them both to play this weekend if they return to practice on Thursday or Friday. Mostert has been Miami's primary back all year and leads the NFL with 21 total touchdowns, but he could cede more touches to Achane and Jeff Wilson Jr. these next two weeks before the start of the postseason.

From RotoBaller

Dec 25 7:00pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane finished with seven carries for 24 yards in Sunday's victory over the Dallas Cowboys. He added one catch for seven yards. The rookie continued to battle a toe issue ahead of this contest, missing practice on Wednesday before logging limited sessions on Thursday and Friday. Raheem Mostert found the end zone, his eighth touchdown in his last five games. Unfortunately, Achane couldn't get anything going for fantasy managers. At any rate, while the 2023 third-round pick has struggled as a runner in his last three games, he remains a startable fantasy option in Week 17 versus the Baltimore Ravens.

From RotoBaller

Dec 24 2:00am ET

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (toe) is expected to play in Week 16 versus Dallas. The rookie missed practice on Wednesday because of a toe injury. However, he logged limited sessions on Thursday and Friday, so there's a good chance he'll be on the field on Sunday for the must-win matchup. Of course, Achane's looming availability will likely mean fewer touches for Raheem Mostert (knee, ankle). But Miami's high-powered offensive approach should allow Achane and Mostert to remain involved in a high-capacity, meaning there's room for both players to be featured in fantasy lineups.

From RotoBaller

Dec 23 1:20pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane has taken the backseat to Raheem Mostert over the last couple of weeks and only saw a total of 12 touches in Week 15 against the New York Jets as he was dealing with a toe issue. After seeing the Buffalo Bills run wild against the Cowboys, the Dolphins are likely going to try their best to keep Dak Prescott and company off of the field. Given the chance, Achane has been one of the best at producing explosive runs. Among running backs with at least 50 carries this season, Achane is tied for the fewest stuffed run attempts with only five. Fantasy managers can consider Achane a borderline RB2/RB3 in this matchup.

From RotoBaller

Dec 21 9:20pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane (toe) was able to get through a limited practice session on Thursday. The rookie back didn't suit up for practice on Wednesday due to a lingering toe issue. However, it doesn't appear to be a big issue as Achane was back on the practice field a day later. That being said, Achane is on track to suit up for the Week 16 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. He only saw 39 percent of the team's offensive snaps last week. That was his lowest total since Week 3, which is a bit concerning for fantasy managers. Despite that, Achane remains on the RB2 radar for this weekend's matchup versus Dallas.

From RotoBaller

Dec 20 7:40pm ET

Miami Dolphins running backs Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee) and rookie De'Von Achane (toe) were both listed as non-participants in Wednesday's practice. Mostert misses most Wednesday practices for veteran rest. He has not missed a single game in 2023 and leads the NFL with an incredible 18 rushing touchdowns, including seven in the last four games. Mostert is a must-start in all fantasy lineups for a Week 16 showdown against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Achane was questionable for Week 15's beatdown of the New York Jets, but he played and had nine carries for 32 yards while catching three passes for 30 yards. As long as the explosive 22-year-old rookie returns to practice later this week, he should be in play as an RB2 with upside against a Dallas defense that was just shredded on the ground by Buffalo Bills RB James Cook.

From RotoBaller

Dec 17 8:10pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane couldn't break off any explosive, long plays this week, but remained a bigger part of the passing game compared to the rest of the backfield. With that being said, he still took a backseat overall to Raheem Mostert and couldn't find the end zone for a second consecutive game. Achane collected 32 yards on nine carries and hauled in three receptions for 30 yards. After all the explosive performances he posted throughout the season, putting up duds in the fantasy playoffs is the last thing fantasy managers need. Achane will have an uphill battle in their Week 16 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys as well.
