2024 RTSports Outlook

Fields took a big step forward in year two, showing his huge fantasy potential. He wasn't great throwing the ball, but was tremendous on the ground. He topped 1,000-rushing yards, rushing for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns. He led the league in rush yards per attempt (7.1). He also threw for more than 2,000 yards and had 17 touchdown passes to 11 interceptions. Fields was 11th overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. He had eight games with 20-plus fantasy points, including two games with more than 40 points. Fields missed on some throws he should make, though, having the fifth worst on target percentage in football (71.1 percent). He completed just 60.4 percent of his passes. Fields is going to be the quarterback for the Bears for years to come. He needs some help around him in the passing game if he hopes to get better throwing the ball. The Bears really lacked quality options at receiver last year. Fields has a ton of talent and the makeup of an elite NFL quarterback. He has a terrific arm and can be accurate. Fields is a very good athlete that can make plays with his legs all over the field. He can be turnover prone and accuracy has been an issue in two seasons.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Fields is a top-10 fantasy quarterback. His rushing totals give him a huge weekly floor. He is like a RB1 that can also throw for a lot of yards and scores. He is a fantasy player on the rise. He can finish with around 3,000-passing yards, 30 total touchdowns and 1,000-rushing yards.

The Chicago Bears traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a conditional 2025 sixth-round pick. Based on playing time, the sixth-round pick can become a fourth-round selection. With Fields shipped to Pittsburgh, the Bears are set to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. It becomes an interesting situation in Pittsburgh with Fields joining Russell Wilson, who signed a one-year deal with the Steelers this offseason. The 25-year-old threw for 2,562 yards and a 16:9 TD: INT ratio while rushing for 657 yards and four scores over 13 games for the Bears in 2023. The Steelers are down to Wilson and Fields on the quarterback depth chart after trading Kenny Pickett to the Eagles and Mason Rudolph signing with the Titans via free agency. Whoever wins Pittsburgh's quarterback battle between Fields and Wilson is a serviceable QB2 in superflex leagues, with Fields having a higher ceiling between the two signal callers.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the likely teams left in the sweepstakes for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields are the Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders. Unless the Bears wait for Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent Kirk Cousins to sign, they might just take the Steelers' best offer in a trade. However, the Raiders, in their attempt to upgrade the QB position over Aidan O'Connell through free agency, the draft or a trade, can't be ruled out. The Raiders still have All-Pro wideout Davante Adams, but RB Josh Jacobs is a free agent and may not return, which could give Fields limited options if he joins the Raiders. It will most likely take a second- or third-rounder to land Fields, who still has plenty of QB1 upside in fantasy because of his elite rushing ability. However, to take the next step, the 24-year-old needs to improve his field vision and passing accuracy. At this point, it would be a surprise if Fields isn't playing somewhere other than Chicago in 2024.

According to NFL executives, if the Chicago Bears indeed decide to trade quarterback Justin Fields this offseason, the majority opinion is that Chicago would receive a second- or third-round pick in the upcoming draft. It's looking more likely that Fields will be dealt and the Bears will take USC QB Caleb Williams with the first overall pick. "There's a reason they're moving on," an executive pointed out. Fields has amazing rushing ability and physical traits, but he still needs to improve his field vision to anticipate throws, and the former first-rounder's inconsistent accuracy remains a concern. He finished with a career-high 61.4 completion percentage in 2023 and has 6,674 passing yards, 40 TDs and 30 picks in his career. Despite his deficiencies, the soon-to-be 25-year-old is still young and will have QB1 upside in 2024, and perhaps even more upside with a new team.

Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles said on Tuesday that if the team decides to draft a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick this year, he doesn't think it would be right not to trade quarterback Justin Fields before free agency on March 13. No official decision has been made by Chicago, but all signs are pointing to the team moving on from Fields and drafting USC's Caleb Williams as their next franchise QB. Teams such as the Steelers, Falcons, Patriots, Raiders, and Broncos figured to be interested in Fields if he becomes available. The 24-year-old missed time due to injury in 2023, but he looked improved down the stretch and still has QB1 appeal in fantasy because of his elite rushing ability. A move out of Chicago and to a new offensive system could make him more attractive as well.

During an appearance on the St. Brown Bros podcast, Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, who has been the subject of trade rumors since the Bears secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, said on Wednesday that he wants to stay in Chicago. "If it was up to me I would stay in Chicago. I love the city. The city's lit. The fans there, they're great. But it's a business. I ain't got no control over it, so whatever happens happens," Fields said. The 24-year-old said the Bears haven't informed him what they plan to do. Multiple teams, including the Falcons, will surely be interested in the dual-threat QB if the Bears indeed plan to trade him. Fields missed some time with injury in 2023 but showed improvement late in the year and will almost certainly be in play as a QB1 in fantasy in 2024, perhaps even more so if he's traded.

The Pittsburgh Steelers may just be a quarterback away from being real contenders in the AFC. They have just about everything else they need, from ample skill players to an improving offensive line and three legitimate, game-changing stars on defense. At the very least, Pittsburgh will apply pressure on incumbent Kenny Pickett with a QB acquisition via trade or free agency this offseason. ESPN's Adam Schefter pointed out that head coach Mike Tomlin is a big fan of Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields, so the Steelers could be one of the teams most interested in potentially trading for Fields if the Bears decide to hold onto the No. 1 overall pick in the draft to select USC's Caleb Williams. A move to Pittsburgh would make Fields extremely intriguing as a QB1 with upside in fantasy.

The Chicago Bears interviewed former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman for their vacant offensive-coordinator position on Monday, according to a source. The Bears are searching for a new offensive coordinator after firing Luke Getsy following the regular season finale. Roman was the offensive coordinator in Baltimore for four years, including when quarterback Lamar Jackson won MVP in 2019. His offenses have typically been heavily run-oriented, which would likely mean more designed runs for Bears quarterback Justin Fields, if the organization decides to stick with him as their franchise QB. Before coaching with the Ravens, Roman served as the offensive coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills.

The Chicago Bears have requested permission to interview Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron for their offensive coordinator position, according to a source. With Pete Carroll out as head coach for the Seahawks, Seattle's assistants are now available, and the Bears are moving quickly after firing Luke Getsy, who had served as Chicago's offensive coordinator for the last two seasons. The Bears' new hire for the position will be their 13th offensive coordinator in 26 seasons and the third in the last four seasons. Waldron took over in Seattle in 2021 after four years with the Los Angeles Rams. It remains to be seen what the Bears plan to do with quarterback Justin Fields, as they could keep him and build around him in the upcoming draft or use the first overall pick in 2024 to take USC QB Caleb Williams.

The Chicago Bears have decided to keep head coach Matt Eberflus around in 2024, but they fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko on Wednesday, according to sources. Getsy spent the last two years running Chicago's offense. They finished 28th in total offense in his first year in 2022, including dead-last in passing, and improved to 20th in total offense in 2023. However, they still struggled through the air and finished 27th in the league in passing. The big question entering the 2024 season is whether Chicago will stick with Justin Fields under center or try to draft USC's Caleb Williams with the first overall pick. Fields had his best run late in the season, racking up 336 yards of offense in an upset win over the Lions in Week 14, and they broke 400 total yards twice in the final month.

Jan 10 12:30pm ET

After extensive meetings on Monday and Tuesday, the Chicago Bears are not making a head-coaching change, and Matt Eberflus officially is expected to return for the 2024 season, according to league sources. The news comes after the Bears fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko on Wednesday. The big decision for Eberflus and Chicago's front office will now be to decide whether quarterback Justin Fields is still their franchise QB or whether they should take USC's Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in this year's draft. Eberflus went 3-14 in his first year as head coach for the Bears in 2022 and followed it up by improving to 7-10 in 2023. He's going to need to be better in 2024, and his decision on Fields will most likely be the deciding factor.

Jan 7 10:10pm ET

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields scored at least 20 fantasy points in four of his first six games after returning from a hand injury, but he couldn't end the 2023 season on a high note. The former first-round pick completed 11-of-16 passes for 148 yards while rushing eight times for 27 yards in the team's 17-9 loss. This was just the third time all year in which Fields totaled less than 200 yards in a full game, despite the matchup seeming favorable before the game. With the Bears owning the Panthers' first-round pick in 2024, which will be number one overall, there are serious questions about whether the team should look to extend Fields or take Caleb Williams first overall. After a rocky start, Fields strung together some strong games and benefited from the addition of DJ Moore. Although he didn't end the 2023 season on a high note, Fields will give the Bears a tough choice this offseason.

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has an uncertain future with the team, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Bears via their trade with the Carolina Panthers have the number one pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Per Rapoport, the team will evaluate the incoming QB class as part of their draft process. This has been a major talking point amongst league circles for the last few months as it became more and more clear that Chicago would capture the number one pick. Fields, for his part, has elevated his play significantly over the last six weeks but his future as the Bears' starting quarterback is not guaranteed. Rapoport also mentioned that Chicago has financial considerations as they could trade Fields, instead of extending him, and pay another potential franchise rookie QB less money. Either way, this solution to this issue won't likely play out until the NFL draft. It's sure to be a hot topic throughout the NFL offseason

There hasn't been official word from ownership or team president Kevin Warren, but all signs are pointing to Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus returning for another season despite speculation from earlier this season about his future, according to league sources. The Bears have won games recently and are playing inspired football and have more draft capital than any other team in the league. They have had enough change in the past to want to try and stabilize things as much as they can. In addition to Eberflus sticking around, the Bears could also decide that quarterback Justin Fields deserves another shot to prove himself as the franchise signal-caller moving forward. If that's the case, the Bears have plenty of draft capital to add solid offensive pieces around him.

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has had a very productive fantasy season, averaging just under 20 points per game. The Ohio State alum has scored at least 20 points in six of his last eight games, with the two misses coming against top 10 defenses in Cleveland and Minnesota. With the Bears in line to have the number one pick, Fields needs to have a good game if he wants to ensure the team opts to build around him instead of getting a new quarterback on a rookie deal. The Bears take on the Packers in the final game of the season, who allow the 20th-most points per game to quarterbacks this season. Back in their Week 1 matchup, Fields finished with just under 16 fantasy points on 275 total yards and a touchdown. The Packers rank 28th in defensive DVOA this year, and Fields has scored at least 20 points in every game against a bottom-10 DVOA defense except Week 1. He ranks as a strong QB1 option for Week 18.

Dynasty | Justin Fields completed 20-of-32 passes for 268 yards, adding 45 rushing yards and another score in a win against Atlanta. Dynasty Analysis: The Panthers lost today, giving the Bears the #1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The speculation will now begin as the Bears will have a decision to make with Fields for the second year in a row, Last year, they moved the #1 pick to Carolina for a boatload, including DJ Moore. This year, they'll likely have no shortage of suitors for the shot at taking Caleb Williams or Drake Maye. Fields has played well this year but Chicago is going to need to decide if they want to keep a top-15 quarterback or shoot for the stars. Chances are Fields will make his last start for the Bears next week but stay tuned as this will be a story to watch in dynasty leagues all off-season long.
