2024 RTSports Outlook

Perine had a productive first season with the Broncos. He had just 238-rushing yards but was still 40th overall in fantasy running back scoring because of his work in the passing game. Perine had a career-high 50 receptions. He served as the third-down back for the Broncos and did well in that role. He had four games with double-digit fantasy points. Expect him to serve a similar role this season. Perine has 25-plus receptions three straight seasons. Perine does well between the tackles and has a knack for finding the end zone. He doesn't have great moves in space, though, and doesn't break a lot of big plays to the outside. Perine is an improved pass catcher as evident by his numbers the past few seasons.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Perine is a good late-round pick for fantasy teams. He has a decent floor because of his work in the passing game. He won't post big weekly numbers but will at least put up some numbers each week. Perine should be considered a top-40 fantasy back. He should be able to get around 700 total yards, 40 receptions and four or so scores.

In his first year with the Denver Broncos in 2023, running back Samaje Perine was effective in a pass-catching role out of the backfield, posting career-highs in receptions (50), targets (56), and receiving yards (455) in 17 games (one start). However, he found the end zone just once and never established himself in a committee involving Javonte Williams and the undrafted Jaleel McLaughlin. With the addition of rookie Audric Estime to Denver's RB room, there's a chance that Perine won't even make the roster out of training camp with a non-guaranteed $3 million salary in 2024. If the 28-year-old sticks around, he's unlikely to see an increase in carries as long as Williams and Estime stay healthy. In purely a limited pass-catching/special teams role in an offense that could take a step back in 2024 with the uncertainty under center, it's hard to justify using a roster spot on Perine, even in PPR leagues.
