2024 RTSports Outlook

Waddle saw a dip in production last season, finishing just 34th overall in fantasy receiver scoring. He did not have the season most expected. But even with that said, he still hit the 1,000-yard mark in 14 games. His numbers weren't bad by any means. Waddle had double-digit fantasy points 10 of 14 games. He also caught nearly everything thrown his way, dropping just four passes on 104 targets. Waddle will continue to be a huge part of the Dolphins offense, starting opposite Tyreek Hill. He has three straight 1,000-yard seasons to start this career. Waddle has game-changing speed and can turn a short pass into a big play. He runs good routes and can get by defenders in a hurry. He lacks a little size, which makes him a bit of an injury concern.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Waddle is a good buy-low candidate. He can get it going again this year but consider him more a top No. 2 fantasy receiver. He can get around 90 receptions for 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Miami Dolphins fourth-year wide receiver Jaylen Waddle continued to excel in the Dolphins' high-powered offense in 2023. Partnering with Tyreek Hill, Waddle formed one of the most dynamic receiving duos in the league. He finished the season with 72 receptions for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns in just 14 games, showcasing his speed and ability to make big plays. Waddle's biggest concern last year was the lack of endzone touches the young receiver got, but a lack of games played could have altered this fluke as Waddle caught eight touchdowns the year before. Under head coach Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins' offensive scheme emphasizes speed and big plays. Waddle's role as a primary deep threat and possession receiver positions him as one of the offense's focal points. Waddle is worth targeting in the early rounds of fantasy drafts, typically in the late second to early third round, as his ADP is 35.3 while being ranked 33rd in RotoBaller's player rankings. Given his role in the Dolphins' dynamic offense and his proven talent, he offers a high floor with significant upside. Managers looking for a reliable and explosive wide receiver should confidently draft Waddle. The wide receiver is a high-end WR2 with the potential to finish as a WR1 in PPR formats. His ability to generate big plays and accumulate receptions makes him a valuable asset, particularly in leagues that reward points per reception. Waddle could easily outperform his draft position if he can increase his touchdown production.

Dynasty | The Dolphins have signed wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to a contract extenstion. Dynasty Analysis: Waddle gets a contract worth $84.75 million with a whopping $76 million in guaranteed money. The deal also makes him the fourth-highest paid wide receiver in the league. It's a giant contract for a player who is currently the WR2 on his own team but it's clear Miami sees him as the long-term focal point of their passing offense. After three straight 1,000-yard seasons, 18 touchdowns, and 251 receptions, it's not hard to see why. Waddle is currently our WR12, and that could actually represent a bit of a "buy low" window at the moment.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is signing a three-year contract extension worth up to $84.75 million that includes $76 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The $28.25 million average salary ranks fourth among NFL wideouts, trailing only A.J. Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Tyreek Hill. Since entering the league as a first-round pick in 2021 out of Alabama, Waddle has hauled in 251 of his 361 targets for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns. He's caught at least 72 passes and racked up 1,000-plus yards in each of his first three campaigns. Although he is the clear No. 2 wide receiver in Miami behind Hill, he remains a strong fantasy football asset with WR1 upside in an explosive passing offense. Last season marked his first year without a WR1 finish, but he should bounce back after setting career lows on catches, yards, and touchdowns. He's a screaming value at his low-end WR2 price tag in early fantasy drafts.

The Miami Dolphins have picked up the fifth-year option on star wideout and former No. 6 overall pick Jaylen Waddle, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. This is a no-brainer for the organization after he racked up 251 receptions for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns during the first three seasons of his career. Even with Tyreek Hill in town, Waddle has remained a 1000-yard receiver and is one of the best No. 2 options in any passing game around the NFL. Although Waddle set career lows in receptions, yards, and touchdowns last year, he should be primed for a bounce-back campaign if he can stay healthy. He missed three contests in 2023. He's now under contract through the 2025 NFL season.

Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier told reporters on Tuesday that the team plans to pick up the fifth-year options for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and pass-rusher Jaelan Phillips prior to the deadline. These moves don't come as much of a surprise, especially for Waddle, after he put up his third straight 1,000-yard season in 2023 to begin his NFL career. The 25-year-old is the first pass-catcher to do that in franchise history, and it's even more impressive doing it alongside All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill the last two years. Hill's presence limits Waddle's overall fantasy upside, but he's proven these last two seasons that there's still plenty to go around for Waddle in Miami's high-octane offense. Waddle will now be guaranteed to stick in Miami for the next two seasons.

Dynasty | The Dolphins have signed tight end Jonnu Smith. Dynasty Analysis: Smith gets a two-year, "$10 million" contract to take over as Miami's top option at the position. On the surface, it's a solid signing. Miami was going to end up entering the season with Durham Smythe as the top option and that was likely not going to work out well for them. Still, it's a little tough to get too excited about Smith after three lost seasons in New England and Atlanta. While he'll likely be the TE1 in Miami, the targets are likely still headed to Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and De'Von Achane more than others. Smith's value should get a boost but dynasty managers should still see him as little more than a TE2 with some late-career upside.

When asked about speculation as to whether the Miami Dolphins would consider trading wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, general manager Chris Grier laughed and said: "No thoughts of trading Jaylen Waddle. He'll be around here for a long time." The Dolphins have one of the best receiving duos in the league in Waddle and All-Pro Tyreek Hill, so it doesn't make any sense to split them up. Waddle took a slight step backward in his third season as a pro in 2023, but he still managed his third straight 1,000-yard season to begin his career on 1,014 yards, 72 catches and four touchdowns in 14 regular-season starts. The four missed games due to injuries were responsible for his career-lows across the board. With better health in 2024, the 25-year-old wideout should be a lock for another 1,000-yard season.
