Conklin was the starter for the Jets once again and topped 50 receptions for the fourth straight season. He was 18th in fantasy tight end scoring. Conklin had six games with double-digit fantasy points. He was up and down, though, having seven games with 10 or fewer yards. Conklin signed with the Chargers this offseason and will try to earn the starting job with his new team. Conklin is a reliable target in the passing game. He is a decent blocker and athlete. He catches the ball well, especially in traffic. He lacks some top speed, though, which can limit his big-play ability.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: A move to Los Angeles should be a positive for Conklin. He could see his numbers rise a little if he is able to win the starting job. He is worth a look as a No. 2 fantasy tight end. Conklin has a decent weekly ceiling. He could get 60 receptions for 600 yards and five touchdowns.
Tight end Tyler Conklin joined the Los Angeles Chargers on a one-year deal this offseason as head coach Jim Harbaugh continues reshaping the roster in his vision. With veteran Will Dissly already in the fold and rookie Oronde Gadsden II selected in the fifth round, the competition in the tight end room is heating up. Conklin and Dissly are expected to battle for the starting role throughout training camp. Harbaugh expressed his enthusiasm for the group, saying, "Competitors welcome. Excited about Tyler Conklin and how our tight end room has developed." However, fantasy managers should temper expectations. Harbaugh has a long-standing preference for run-first offenses, and that trend continued last year--the Chargers ranked 11th in rushing attempts but just 28th in passing attempts. While both tight ends could see the field in heavy sets, there simply may not be enough passing volume to support more than one fantasy-relevant option. Until roles become clearer, Conklin should be viewed as a back-end TE3 with limited upside in this low-volume passing attack and comes in as TE40 in the latest RotoBaller offseason rankings.

The Los Angeles Chargers announced on Wednesday that they signed Australian tight end Jordan Petaia as part of the league's International Player Pathway training program. Petaia recently worked out for teams at the University of South Florida's Pro Day on March 26. He appeared in two Rugby World Cups in 2019 in Japan and in 2023 in France for the Wallabies and became the youngest Australian to play at a World Cup in 2019 at just 18 years old. Petaia will be a long shot for any kind of fantasy relevance in the NFL with the Chargers but will provide additional tight end depth in L.A. heading into training camp behind newcomer Tyler Conklin, Will Dissly, Tucker Fisk and McCallan Castles. The 25-year-old spent the last few months learning American football at the IMG Academy in Florida.

Dynasty | The Chargers have signed free agent tight end Tyler Conklin. Dynasty Analysis: This signing might fly under the radar a touch, but it shouldn't. Conklin posted a 51/449/4 line for a Jets team that was, well, challenged offensively last season. The move to Los Angeles could be huge for his fantasy value as the Chargers rolled with Will Dissly last year with mixed results of their own. Should the Chargers fail to draft a tight end early in the 2025 NFL Draft, Conklin could emerge as a true TE1 option next season and dynasty managers should respond accordingly
Former New York Jets tight end Tyler Conklin reached an agreement on an undisclosed one-year deal on Friday with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to his agent, Mike McCartney. Conklin heads to the AFC West after spending the last three years with the Jets, where he had 170 catches on 246 targets for 1,622 yards and seven touchdowns in 50 games (43 starts). While the 29-year-old did have a career-high four touchdowns in 16 games (15 starts) last year, he had just 51 catches and 449 yards (his lowest total since 2020) on 72 targets. The former fifth-round selection (157th overall) by the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 out of Central Michigan has the opportunity to be the Chargers' top pass-catching tight end in 2025, but he'll also be sharing playing time with Will Dissly. Dissly had a very similar 50-481-2 line to Conklin a year ago in L.A. Expect Conklin to be a touchdown-dependent TE2 in fantasy in his new home.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that free-agent tight end Tyler Conklin is visiting with the Los Angeles Chargers. The former Jet has garnered interest from a few teams -- including New York -- but has yet to find a new home. Conklin spent the last three seasons with the Jets and seemed to be trending up. However, the addition of wide receiver Davante Adams put a damper on his production in 2024. The 29-year-old hauled in 51 passes for 449 yards on 72 targets last season, setting a career-high with four trips to the end zone. He'd be an intriguing fit in LA and would undoubtedly benefit from the play of signal-caller Justin Herbert. Conklin could provide some nice fantasy value as a Charger, as there isn't too much target competition behind wideouts Ladd McConkey and newly-acquired Mike Williams.

New York Jets tight end Tyler Conklin is not expected to return in 2025, according to SNY's Connor Hughes. Sources say the Jets are showing interest in free-agent tight ends, with Juwan Johnson being the top target. If the Jets choose to sign a cheaper player, they could look to someone like John Bates. The 29-year-old Conklin will soon become an unrestricted free agent this offseason and will be free to sign with any NFL team, but it's unlikely the Jets will make much of an effort to retain him. The former fifth-rounder (157th overall) of the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 out of Central Michigan caught 51 of his 72 targets for 449 yards and a career-high four touchdowns in his third year with the Jets in 2024. In his three years in New York, he accumulated 170 receptions, 1,622 receiving yards and seven TDs in 50 games (43 starts). Conklin is unlikely to be much more than a backup TE wherever he lands in free agency.
