2020 RTSports Outlook

Wilson had his usual big season, finishing fourth overall in fantasy quarterback scoring. He scored 34 total touchdowns and topped 4,000-passing yards. Wilson scored touchdowns all but a game and had 10 multiple touchdown games. Wilson has three straight seasons with 30-plus touchdowns. Wilson has 4,000-yard seasons three of his last five and has 20-plus passing touchdowns every season in the NFL. Wilson isn't a big quarterback but moves around the pocket well and can make all the throws at quarterback. His arm isn't off the charts but accurate. Wilson does well to find a throwing lane despite his small size. He can hurt teams with his legs as much as his arm, serving as one of the top dual threats in all of football. Wilson is the centerpiece of the Seahawks offense, making this unit one of the best in football.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Wilson has been in the top 10 in quarterback scoring each of the last six seasons. He is an elite fantasy quarterback and should be considered that for fantasy teams. He should be one of the first five quarterbacks off the board because of his consistency for fantasy teams. He'll get around 4,000-passing yards, 35 total touchdowns and 400-rushing yards. Wilson is the complete package at quarterback.

RotoBaller's Outlook

Russell Wilson finished as fantasy QB3 last season, the second time in three years that he placed as a Top 3 fantasy quarterback. He has consistently finished inside the Top 10 throughout his career. But Wilson was somewhat unreliable down the stretch, with three games of less than 11 fantasy points between Weeks 12 through 16. Still, he threw 30 TD passes for the third consecutive year and his 4,110 passing yards were the second highest of his career. He continues to display great efficiency, as he was 12th in attempts last year (516) and 11th in completions (341). Wilson is also one of the best deep ball throwers in the game, as he completed 43% of his deep throws, 56% were catchable, and he averaged over 30 air yards per deep completion, according to Sports Info Solutions. He has a fine pair of starting wide receivers to work with, as Tyler Lockett and very promising rookie DK Metcalf combined for over 1,900 yards and 15 TDs last season. You can count on Wilson for another 4,000 yard, 30 TD campaign with 300-plus rushing yards while he keeps his interceptions down (12 over the past two seasons). The NFFC ADP of 50 is right on target and in some leagues he will fall even further as owners wait on QBs. Expect him to be one of the Top 5 QBs selected in many drafts. If you get him past the seventh round hell be a fine value. The disappointing late weeks in 2019 should not linger into the new season.

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson was accurate on 17 of his 26 passes (65.4 percent) that traveled 31 or more yards downfield and five of his six passes that traveled at least 41 yards (83.3 percent) in 2019, making him the most accurate passer in the league on such throws. Wilson also finished second in passes that traveled at least 35 yards in the air (60 percent).

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson would love for the team to add wide receiver Antonio Brown, according to sources. Brown is also close with backup quarterback Geno Smith. Wilson surely wouldn't mind more playmakers through the air, as there are plenty of questions behind D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in the passing game, but a return to the NFL for Brown is probably unlikely at this point given all of his off-the-field baggage. And even if Seattle did consider adding Brown, it wouldn't happen until late July or August. A more plausible outcome would be Josh Gordon being reinstated by the league and returning to Seattle after playing with them in 2019.

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson threw 13 touchdown passes against the blitz this past season.

Fantasy Spin: Wilson finished third in the NFL with 31 touchdowns and also ranked sixth with 4,110 yards. He has been a consistent fantasy producer for players over the last several season and should be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback again in 2020.

From TheHuddle

May 19 6:33pm ET

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson completed 26 touchdowns with just two turnover-worthy plays on passes 20-plus yards downfield in 2018 and 2019, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Spin: The Seahawks added another big-play threat this offseason in WR Phillip Dorsett to complement the top duo of Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. Wilson will likely again be available at a discount in 2020 drafts, despite routinely finishing as one of the top fantasy options at his position.

From TheHuddle

May 17 5:53pm ET

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson completed 23 of his 30 pass attempts for 450 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions on seven-step drops in 2019. Those marks allowed him to post a league-best 157.6 passer rating on seven-step drops.

From TheHuddle

May 16 4:23pm ET

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson threw 48 incompletions from 2017-2019 on positively-graded throws, according to Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Spin: Wilson threw for a three-year high of 4,110 yards in 2019 as he seemed to be helped greatly by the addition of rookie WR DK Metcalf. With TE Greg Olsen and WR Phillip Dorsett added this offseason, Wilson may have the best supporting cast of his career. He's a top-tier QB1.

The Seattle Seahawks talked with the Cleveland Browns about a potential trade that would have sent quarterback Russell Wilson to Cleveland for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 draft. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Browns believe the idea was "floated" conceptually, but the talks did happen. The placement of a no-trade clause in Wilson's extension was influenced by talk surrounding that potential trade to the Browns. Some close enough to the situation believe that Wilson eventually will be traded. Seattle would take a $39 million salary cap hit by trading Wilson in 2021, and he's due to earn $19 million that season. By 2022, the cap hit falls to $26 million. In the final year of his deal, he'll have a $39 million cap number and a $13 million cap charge if traded. In a run-heavy offense, Wilson remains a high-end QB1 in fantasy because of his big arm and ability to make plays happen with his scrambling ability.

From RotoBaller

May 14 4:30pm ET

The Seattle Seahawks have been expected all along to re-sign quarterback Geno Smith, and they could make the deal official soon, according to a source. Seattle's current depth behind Russell Wilson includes only rookie Anthony Gordon, so the Seahawks certainly need to upgrade, even if Smith isn't exactly anyone's version of a solid backup option under center. The 29-year-old didn't attempt any passes at all behind Wilson in 2019, and he had just four attempts in parts of five games as Philip Rivers' backup for the Chargers in 2018. If Wilson were to go down with injury at all in 2020, Seattle's offense would be in serious trouble and would lean even more on the ground game.

The Seattle Seahawks have selected LSU offensive guard Damien Lewis with the No. 69 pick during the third round. Protecting quarterback Russell Wilson has been tough for Seattle over the last couple of seasons. Drafting a guy like Lewis will definitely help fix that problem. He's above average when it comes to movement, but he lacks agility at times. Lewis gives Seattle much-needed depth at the offensive guard spot. It shouldn't take him long before he's starting for the Seahawks.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson expressed his desire for the team's offense to pick up the pace moving forward. "I mean weve always been really good at two-minute [offense]," Wilson said. "Weve always been really good in those end of the half, those not always hurry-up situations, but those up-tempo situations [and] moments. And guys just make plays in those moments. I think the freedom of just going after it and just scoring as many points, you know?" Seattle's current offense still prefers to run the football as much as they can, but Wilson has remained a strong QB1 for fantasy owners despite their run-first approach. If the Seahawks speed up the tempo of their offense and let Wilson call the shots more often, he could be even more dynamic than he already is.

From RotoBaller

Feb 5 10:43pm ET

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson expressed a desire for the offense to utilize more of an up-tempo attack in 2020 during an interview with Pro Football Talk Live last week. 'I mean we've always been really good at two-minute (offense),' Wilson said. 'We've always been really good in those end of the half, those not always hurry-up situations, but those up-tempo situations (and) moments. And the reality is this: I think the defense gets tired, first thing. And I think the second thing is that, you know, I really know kind of what I want to get after them, how we want to get after them, especially in those moments. And guys just make plays in those moments. I think the freedom of just going after it and just scoring as many points, you know?'

Fantasy Spin: Fantasy owners have long clamored for the Seahawks to give Wilson more opportunities in the passing game. The 31-year-old already carries a high fantasy ceiling, but it almost goes without saying that he could rival the best fantasy quarterbacks in a game if Seattle would ease up on its run-heavy ways early in games so Wilson could work his magic in the first half as well as the second. Regardless, he's a high-end fantasy QB1 for the foreseeable future.

A rough first half left Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his squad in a 21-3 hole as they came out from halftime. Wilson would then lead them on a fantastic charge back to bring the game to a five-point deficit, but an ugly dropped pass late in the fourth quarter left Seattle lacking. Wilson went 21-for-31 for 277 yards and a touchdown in the loss, but third-down struggles spelled doom for the underdogs. Wilson was also sacked five times, including on a couple critical downs like the team's two-point conversion attempt and their final third down of the night. Wilson has now been to the playoffs in six of his eight seasons, and he's won at least one playoff game in five of those six trips.

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson completed 21-of-31 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown as the team fell behind by 18 points twice but made a late charge before falling short 28-23 in Sunday's NFC Divisional Round playoff game. Wilson led the team in rushing with 64 yards, while RB Marshawn Lynch rushed for 26 yards and two scores on 12 attempts. WR Tyler Lockett was highly efficient, turning his 10 targets into nine catches for 136 yards and a touchdown. WR DK Metcalf was held somewhat in check after setting a playoff record for most receiving yards by a rookie one week ago, finishing with four receptions for 59 yards. TE Jacob Hollister hauled in five catches for 47 yards. RB Travis Homer chipped in 27 more yards through the air to go along with his 13 rushing yards. CB Tre Flowers, LB K.J. Wright and DE Jadeveon Clowney paced Seattle with seven tackles apiece. LB Shaquem Griffin tallied one of Seattle's two sacks, while Wright and Clowney combined on the other.

Seattle Seahawks left tackles Duane Brown (knee) and George Fant (groin) and defensive end Ezekiel Ansah (neck) are all listed as questionable for the Divisional Round against the Packers on Sunday. Offensive guard Mike Iupati (neck) is doubtful, so Seattle's offensive line could be in serious trouble against a ferocious Packers pass rush this weekend. If Brown and Fant are both out, quarterback Russell Wilson could be running for his life more plays than not in Green Bay. Still, the Seahawks run-first offense will continue to pound the rock with running backs Travis Homer and Marshawn Lynch against a suspect Green Bay run D. Ansah continues to deal with injuries and hasn't been very effective when on the field in his first season with Seattle.

From RotoBaller

Jan 10 1:00pm ET

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has faced a few stingy defenses this year, and so far, he's won more of those games than he's lost. This week, he'll face another strong passing defense, and if he's going to win, he's going to have to do it in one of the toughest places in the league. Green Bay is expected to receive multiple inches of snow on Saturday night, and it will in the 20s during the game on Sunday evening. The last time he played a frozen playoff game was in Minnesota in 2015, and he only threw for 142 yards in that one. Green Bay's defense has allowed the 5th fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, Seattle's running backs totaled just 19 yards on the ground last week, and the Seahawks haven't won in Green Bay in 20 years. The deck is entirely stacked against Wilson having a good game, and while he might make enough magic happen to get a win, it's unlikely he puts up great numbers in the process.

From RotoBaller

Jan 10 12:00am ET

Seattle Seahawks left tackles Duane Brown (knee) and George Fant (groin) both missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday, but Brown is expected to try to play in the Divisional Round against the Packers on Sunday. Brown missed the wild-card win over the Eagles, but Seattle's offensive line will really need him out there if his backup cannot play. Against a sneaky Packers pass rush this weekend, the Seahawks left tackle spot is a spot worth keeping an eye on. If both Brown and Fant can't play, quarterback Russell Wilson could be in for a long day in the Divisional Round.

From RotoBaller

Jan 6 2:10am ET

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson didn't have the best game of his career on Sunday night in Philadelphia, but he made the throws that he needed to make when he needed to make them. Seattle's running game was pretty much shut down for the duration of the game, outside of Wilson's own scrambles, so Wilson took to the air throughout. A couple huge passes to D.K. Metcalf gave Wilson his one passing touchdown as well as the critical third-down conversion that essentially ended the game. The 325 yards were the most passing yards Wilson has recorded in a postseason game since 2016, and he's now increased his TD/INT ratio to 6/2 over his last three playoff runs. Wilson will be facing a tougher matchup next week when he travels to Green Bay.

From RotoBaller

Jan 5 7:53pm ET

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson completed 18-of-30 passes for 325 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the NFC Wild Card Game Sunday, Jan. 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also led the team with 45 rushing yards. RB Marshawn Lynch rushed six times for just seven yards, but he had a touchdown and 25 receiving yards. WR DK Metcalf had seven grabs for a game-best 160 yards and a touchdown, while WR Tyler Lockett had four grabs for 62 yards. WR David Moore also chipped in with 57 yards on two grabs, while TE Jacob Hollister had two grabs for 16 yards on four targets. S Bradley McDougald had 11 total stops with a sack, two tackles for loss and a quarterback hit, while LB/DE Jadeveon Clowney also had five total stops, a sack, two tackles for loss and a quarterback hit.
