2024 RTSports Outlook

Chubb had another big season as the starter for the Browns. He was sixth overall in fantasy running back scoring and topped 1,500-rushing yards. He was tough to bring down once again, ranking third overall in broken tackles (28). He had six games with 20-plus fantasy points. Chubb had a career-best in rushing yards and touchdowns (13). He has four straight 1,000-yard seasons. Chubb will continue to be the lead back in the Browns top rushing offense. Chubb is a very big back with good vision and the ability to run through tacklers. He doesn't have elite speed but enough to make plays on the outside. Chubb is a tough runner to bring down and does a great job of making plays after contact. He isn't a great pass catcher, though, limiting his fantasy ceiling.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Chubb is a top-10 fantasy back. His lack of work in the passing game holds him back a little, though. But even with that said, Chubb will be a consistent producer in this offense. He is a solid No. 1. Look for around 1,700 total yards, double-digit scores and 30 receptions.

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) is expected to begin load running in April, according to general manager Andrew Berry. The 28-year-old suffered a torn MCL and damaged ACL in the Week 2 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last season in what looked to be a potential career-ending injury. However, he is looking to bounce back and play again, but there is a lot of time before the start of next season. This will be an ongoing development worth following ahead of fantasy drafts for the 2024 campaign. Cleveland has Jerome Ford on the roster and recently signed veteran D'Onta Foreman, and if Chubb is limited upon his return, he could be utilized as a committee back moving forward.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) is 'doing a fantastic job with his rehab' and should be able to move from the conditioning phase of his rehab to some pre-football activity, according to general manager Andrew Berry. 'As we think about it, until we see him in the next couple of months, I think the next - call it three - months will be pretty telling in terms of his potential readiness for early in the season. We're going to be conservative in terms of our approach in our assessment with building the roster because (Chubb is) coming off of a major knee injury. But I do have to give him a lot of credit. He's done a really, really nice job. But I think we'll have a better sense. Don't hold me to it, but I think probably if you ask me that question around the draft, I may have maybe a little bit more of a specific answer,' Berry said.

Fantasy Spin: Berry suggested that while the hope is Chubb (who underwent one surgery in late September and a second surgery on Nov. 14) is ready to go by Week 1, that timeline is fluid. He also noted that the additions of Nyheim Hines and D'Onta Foreman in free agency were less about Chubb and more about roster building. Given the seriousness of his injury, fantasy managers would be wise to not count on him for Week 1, nor should they expect him to be his usual self early in the season. As such, he should probably be viewed as a high-upside RB3 in early drafts until further notice.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) is not in the team's plans to release in the offseason.

Fantasy Spin: A report came out a few days ago that he could be cut in the offseason, but one of the team's primary beat writers has shot that notion down. Chubb had a catastrophic knee injury last year, and the 28-year-old may not be his prolific self until the second half of the season. Buyer beware, but he's a low-end RB1 option if he's healthy enough to start the season.

The Cleveland Browns want to keep running back Nick Chubb (knee) around, but he's also recovering from two surgeries on his injured knee this offseason and is due to carry a salary cap charge of just under $16 million in 2024, the final year of his contract and his age-28 season. The Browns would take on around $4 million in dead money if they were to cut Chubb. The Athletic's Zac Jackson points out that Chubb's contract was structured long before his injury. When healthy, Chubb has been one of the league's best RBs, but the Browns also need to account for every penny on their salary cap now and into the foreseeable future. Chubb will mostly likely be back in 2024, but he'll be a risk/reward fantasy selection coming off a gruesome knee injury early last year.

Dynasty | The Browns have expressed interest in keeping Nick Chubb. Dynasty Analysis: Chubb had a gruesome knee injury in week two this year and was lost for the season, leading to speculation about his future. The 28-year old Chubb has been one of the best pure running backs in fantasy and reality throughout his career and is beloved by the fan base, so this comes as little surprise. However, he has a $15 million cap hit and could be released with the Browns incurring less than a $5 million penalty. If his rehab continues to go well, it's hard to see him not returning, albeit on a likely renegotiated deal. His dynasty ADP is tanking but he could prove to be a veteran buy low when all is said and done.

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry said the intention is to bring running back Nick Chubb (knee) back for the 2024 season despite his contract situation and serious knee injury. The Browns have an out in Chubb's contract this offseason for only a $4 million dead salary cap hit, and he would carry a $15.8 million cap hit for 2024. If the two sides are intent on running it back, it's likely they'll come to an agreement on a contract restructure for next season. The 28-year-old suffered a torn left ACL early in the 2023 campaign but is no longer using crutches and could be ready to go for the start of the 2024 regular season, barring any setbacks this offseason. If Chubb is ready to go for the start of next season, he'll be a bit more risky as an RB1 in fantasy coming off his serious knee injury.

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) was spotted walking around without crutches or a brace on his surgically repaired left knee before Week 15's 20-17 home win over the Chicago Bears. It's an encouraging sign for Chubb, who underwent surgery in mid-September to repair the meniscus and MCL in his left knee after going down with an ugly injury in Week 2. Chubb had another procedure done in mid-November to repair a torn ACL, which was recommended by doctors. There remains no update in terms of a concrete timetable on the 27-year-old's return to the field, however, and this development doesn't affect Chubb's standing in 2023 redraft fantasy leagues. Cleveland announced on Nov. 14 that they expect Chubb to return at some point during the 2024 season, but a lengthy rehab may not allow the four-time Pro Bowler to be ready health-wise when it comes time for Week 1 next fall.

Nov 14 4:30pm ET

The Cleveland Browns announced on Tuesday that running back Nick Chubb (knee) had a second successful surgery on his left knee to fix his torn ACL. Chubb's first surgery back on Sept. 29 was to fix his meniscus and MCL. The 27-year-old suffered a brutal season-ending left-knee injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 18 and will now spent the rest of the year rehabbing to try and make it back in 2024. In his absence, Jerome Ford has taken over as the team's lead back, while Kareem Hunt and Pierre Strong Jr. have also seen their roles drastically increase in Cleveland's backfield. It remains to be seen if Chubb will actually be ready for the start of the 2024 regular season next fall.

Nov 14 3:33pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) underwent his scheduled second surgery on Tuesday, Nov. 14, to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to performing surgeon James Voos, Chubb has 'progressed very well' following his first surgery in late September and should be able to return to play during the 2024 season.

Fantasy Spin: It is far too early to know if Chubb has any chance to make it back in time for Week 1 of next year, but the mere fact that is even a possibility at this point is amazing. For now, dynasty managers should proceed as if Chubb will return at some point after the start of next season. For the rest of the 2023 season, however, Jerome Ford appears to be the clear lead back in Cleveland and a solid RB2 option. Kareem Hunt has moved into more of a breather back who will vulture touchdowns from Ford at the goal line.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) reportedly started lifting weights again recently, according to a source. Per the source, Chubb is keeping the workouts limited to his upper body and still awaiting surgery on his torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Spin: Yes, he is still done for the year, but Chubb is just built different. While fantasy managers would love if he already had the surgery and was rehabbing his knee, it is still a great sign that he has already been given the green light to work in any capacity. Given the seriousness of his injury, Chubb may be hard-pressed to return to the field by Week 1 next season. However, he is one player worth betting on to beat a recovery timeline given his history.

Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) underwent successful surgery to repair his torn meniscus and MCL, but it was discovered during surgery that he'll also need surgery to repair his ACL, according to sources Saturday, Sept. 30. He's expected to recover in time to return during the 2024 season.

Fantasy Spin: This could very well add extra time to his recovery, and multi-ligament tears are more difficult to come back from. It isn't clear when the surgery will be, but this certainly lowers his value in dynasty leagues.

From TheHuddle

Sep 30 6:50pm ET

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb (knee) underwent successful surgery on Friday to repair multiple injuries to his left knee, including a torn MCL and meniscus. Fantasy managers were optimistic things would go smoothly, and he would be ready for the start of the 2024-25 campaign. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case, with Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reporting Chubb will require a second procedure "in the coming months." As a result, nobody knows when the Pro Bowler will be back on the field, although the Browns indicated it would be at "some point in the 2024 season." Nevertheless, the latest news will undoubtedly impact Chubb's fantasy stock heading into next season, and it will get worse if he suffers a setback in his recovery efforts.
