The following is a partial list of things you should know about our league. Additions may be made as questions arise. The goal is to have a clear set of rules to follow. Items not listed here may be found on our site at LEAGUE/RULES.
COMMISSIONER
Your League Commissioner is Alex Bartos (acbsrb@comcast.net). If you have read the rules and checked the site FAQ’s but still have questions contact us.
If any decision concerning interpretation or modification of established rules becomes necessary in order to promote FAIRNESS or to ELIMINATE CONFLICT, the Commissioner shall have FINAL AUTHORITY.
Should the Commissioner deem it necessary to amend these rules for clarity or to address rules not previously covered, he is authorized to do so, but must notify the league of those amendments. Major rule changes will be discussed before implementation.
TERM OF RULES
Our current league TERM OF RULES will be for 5 years beginning with the 2020 season and ending with the conclusion of the 2025 season. These rules will be our league rules for a TERM of 5 years. In 2025 we will discuss and decide any changes or additions to the rules for the new TERM OF RULES which will start in 2026 for a term of five (5) years.
LEAGUE ENTRY FEE
The League entry fee for this league is $75. All league fees must be paid BEFORE the start of the draft. Payment is accepted via PAYPAL to acbsrb@comcast.net or by check. Checks should be sent to: Commissioner, 110 Old Post Lane, Strasburg, PA, 17579.
RANGER LEAGUE SCHEDULE
Our League plays a double schedule - meaning your team will play against two teams each week. While each team will play the same number of games within their division, other matchups are determined randomly, so your team could play another team from the other division multiple times or not at all.
RANGER LEAGUE RESTART DRAFTS
Starting with the 2020 season our league starts a new five (5) year TERM OF RULES, by cutting all veteran teams down to six (6) players each. For any RESTART DRAFT team owners will be RANDOMLY assigned a Draft Order and the draft will be conducted in a serpentine fashion (1-12, 12-1, 1-12, etc…)
If in the Restart Draft we are adding Expansion Teams, the Expansion Teams will each select 6 players in an expansion mini-draft. Our goal is to allow the Expansion teams to get a good starting lineup, and it has also been determined that the veteran teams will only cut down to six (6) core roster players. This includes any players that have been on Injured Reserve. Players should be cut by using the DROP feature on the site before the ROSTER CUT DEADLINE set by the commissioner, usually two weeks before the Draft.
The remainder of the rules in this section below will ONLY be in effect IF WE ARE ADDING EXPANSION TEAMS. If we are not adding expansion teams, all veteran teams should keep six (6) keepers and we will conduct a normal serpentine draft.
If we are adding expansion teams, in order to make the possibilities more interesting for all teams in the draft, the following rules will apply for a Restart Draft (The FIRST draft of a new TERM OF RULES):
1) Veteran Teams and Expansion Teams are RANDOMLY assigned a Pick Order in the spring or summer before the Draft.
2) Veteran Team Owners KEEP seven (7) players on the ROSTER CUT DEADLINE two weeks before the Draft.
SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFTS
Our SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFTS will be conducted in "straight line" Worst to First fashion (1-8, 1-8, etc…) and will be scheduled each year by the Commissioner to take place prior to the opening of the NFL Season. Supplemental Drafts will consist of five (5) rounds in which Rookies or Free Agents may be acquired.
The following rules will apply for any future SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFTS (Any year OTHER than the FIRST draft of a TERM OF RULES):
1) Teams are assigned a Pick Order by their finish in the previous fantasy season (Worst to First). This order will display on our site sometime in the spring or summer before the supplemental Draft.
D) Keep 15 players and use their assigned Picks in Round 4 and 5 only of the Supplemental Draft.
E) Keep 16 players and use their assigned Picks in round 5 only of the Supplemental draft.
To clarify, if an owner elects to keep any player over the designated 12 Keepers, they in effect are using their TOP Pick in the Supplemental Draft to do so. This also applies to Picks acquired in a TRADE. (Example: If an owner elects to keep a 13th player, he must "spend" his TOP Pick for the upcoming Supplemental Draft. If he owns an EXTRA 1st round Pick because of a Trade, he must spend the 1st round pick which is highest in value or occurs first.)
NOTE: The total of players kept and draft picks owned should NOT equal more than the roster limit of 17. When a team owner decides to keep 13 or more actual players, THEN he will be using his TOP draft picks to do so for the number of players kept over 12 (if players and picks total greater than 17). If a team only keeps 12 or less players but has EXTRA picks of the supplemental draft, then that team would simply not be able to use the very last pick(s) of the draft because EVERY OWNER IS ENTITLED TO KEEP UP TO 12 PLAYERS. The TOP draft picks are spent ONLY when keeping 13 or more players. The commissioners will rule on acceptable rosters.
TRADES
Go to the TEAM/TRADES window to offer a TRADE to another team in the league. Trade offers may include Players who are on your Roster, as well as future Draft Picks. Our site always displays the upcoming draft year picks as well as several years of FUTURE picks.
When the upcoming Draft Picks are for the FIRST year of a TERM OF RULES there are more ROUNDS in that year’s Draft than there will be in the Supplemental Drafts for the remainder of that TERM OF RULES. Therefore, the site may incorrectly show the same larger number of ROUNDS in future drafts. We have no control over this until possibly the following offseason. Just understand that ANY round of the upcoming 1st year Draft for that TERM OF RULES may be traded, but ONLY Rounds 1 thru 5 may be traded from subsequent future years during that CURRENT TERM OF RULES. Also, NO trades may be made affecting a NEW Term of Rules until the draft for that Term of Rules is completed.
SO, Draft Picks as well as Players on your teams can be traded under the following restrictions:
1) ALL trades will be made by the 14th week of the season and need the approval of the league Commissioner.
2) Trades may include Players for Players or Picks for Players, or any combination.
LEAGUE DEADLINES
The day of the DRAFT for our league each year (restart or supplemental) will be prominently posted on our website each year.
The ROSTER CUT DEADLINE will be two (2) weeks BEFORE the DRAFT. On the 1st draft of the TERM OF RULES all team rosters should be trimmed down to five (5) players by the ROSTER CUT DEADLINE. For subsequent years in the TERM OF RULES all team rosters should be trimmed down to 12 to 17 players by the ROSTER CUT DEADLINE. (See the section under SUPPLEMENTAL DRAFTS for more information.)
INJURED RESERVES
Our league will allow three IR spots to be used for players actually placed on the NFL Injured Reserves. Our site shows IR players in various reports with a red X. A player is not eligible to be placed on IR until the site shows the red X.
You can check on our site at NFL/INJURY REPORT to see if a player is on the IR. If in doubt, check with your commissioner or co-commissioner. The purpose of the IR status is to allow a team manager to keep a talented player who is injured on his team without counting against the normal roster limit.
Our league will also have a 3 Rookie player Taxi Squad. These players will be selected after our draft before Week 1.
A list of your ranked rookie's will be used to add the 3 players to the Taxi Squad.
Commissioner will use a snake draft based on your draft spot to select the rookies from your list.
In the event you do not have any more ranked rookies on your list, the commissioner will select the highest rank rookie available for the spot.
The 3 Rookie Taxi Squad will then carry forward season to season and will be selected from the new available rookies each season.
CHANGE OF TEAM OWNERSHIP
In the event that a previous year’s Team Owner is unable to manage their team for the full TERM of RULES; the following CHANGE OF TEAM OWNERSHIP rules shall apply:
Once it is known that an owner, for whatever reason, is no longer intending to manage their fantasy team, the co-commissioner will manage the Ownerless team in order to keep the divisions competitive. When the co-commissioner’s team will play AGAINST the Ownerless team, the Commissioner will verify that the lineup of the Ownerless team is acceptable.
When a new Team Owner is found, they will INHERIT that fantasy team as is. This means ALL draft rankings, players, and trades which were in place will remain intact, just as an NFL team would honor its draft deals when a new owner buys the team. Basically, this is a NAME change only.
IF a new Team Owner is recruited DURING the season, and they INHERIT the team as is, then the INHERITING new owner WILL be eligible for the end of the season prizes as long as the inherited team’s ENTRY FEE has been paid. If the inherited team’s ENTRY FEE was NOT paid, then the INHERITING new owner will have the following options:
(Obviously, in the above case, the League Prize Fund would be reduced by the $75 - $25 per place.)
RANGER LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
1) Six (6) teams will qualify for the Playoffs which will begin in week 15.
LEAGUE PRIZES
Once League entry fees are collected, our site will be paid for, and then the remainder of the funds will be set aside for League Prizes. Based on 8 players in our league the prizes will be as follows:
1st Place Winner = $300
2nd Place Winner = $125
3rd Place Winner = $75
If it happens that an Ownerless team places for ANY of the top 3 League Prizes, the 4th place team would now figure into the prize money. Example: the ownerless team finishes in 2nd place, the prizes would be awarded as below.
The 3rd place team would now receive the 2nd place prize
and the 4th place team would now receive the 3rd place prize,
1st place would remain unchanged.
