1.1: The YGFFL will consist of 14 teams. Each team is owned by the person(s) paying the annual franchise fee to the league treasury.
1.2: Each team is assigned to one of three divisions; The West, The Central, or the East. The West Division consists of four teams; Buffalo, Saint Louis, San Francisco, and Seattle. The Central Division consists of five teams; Cleveland, Green Bay, Houston, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh. The East Division consists of five teams; Atlanta, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, and Tampa Bay.
1.3: The league is run by a Board of Commissioners made up of five members. The five members consist of an acting league commissioner, the league treasurer, and the owners of the three division winning teams from the previous season. If the acting commissioner or the league treasurer owns a division winning franchise, the owner of the second place team from that division will be placed on the board so that the board will always consist of five members.
1.4: The purpose of the Board of Commissioners is to organize the league and to settle any disputes which may arise during the course of a season. The Board of Commissioners grants all rulings and may organize league-wide voting to settle any action.
1.5: If the Board of Commissioners votes on an action, the action is decided by a majority vote. If the Board of Commissioners decides to settle an action with a league-wide vote, the action must have the support of 2/3 of the league (10 owners) in order to pass. If a YGFFL owner abstains from voting, during the YGFFL draft, their vote is counted as a NO vote against league change.
1.6: Before we start the YGFFL draft each year, each owner will need to have voted on all proposed rules. If you cannot attend the draft, then someone must vote in your place otherwise all of your picks will be a PASS.
2.1: The YGFFL Treasurer is in charge of the league treasury. The duties of this position include collecting annual franchise fees, collecting trade/free-agent pick-up fees, and paying out league winnings at the conclusion of each season in a timely fashion.
2.2: The annual YGFFL franchise base fee is $70. This fee includes money for the yearly fee to the league's online site, and $5 per team for the Pro Bowl. Franchise fees are due on April 1st each year prior to the beginning of the YGFFL season. Failure to meet this deadline will result in a $10 late fee for each month the fees are late. If the owner hasn’t made arrangements to pay or hasn’t communicated with the Treasurer by July 1st, that owner may be subject to dismissal from the league. If new ownership needs to be selected, the new owner must pay the base franchise fee by August 1st, so that all 14 teams are in place at least two weeks prior to the YGFFL Draft.
2.3: Trades between YGFFL franchises are free during the YGFFL off-season. The YGFFL off-season is defined as the time period between the conclusion of the YGFFL Pro Bowl and the kickoff of the first NFL regular season game the following season. Free-agent pick-ups are not allowed during the off-season until the YGFFL Draft has been conducted. Once the YGFFL Draft has been completed, free-agent pick-ups are free until the NFL/YGFFL seasons begin.
2.4: Once the NFL/YGFFL seasons begin, trades/free-agent pick-ups are allowed until the YGFFL Trade Deadline, which occurs on the Tuesday after week #10 at 8:00. This is based on the NFL BYE's system in which all BYE's are completed by week #10. Trades and Free Agent pickups are FREE during the approved times.
2.5: All money collected by the YGFFL Treasury will be paid out in prizes at the conclusion of the YGFFL Playoffs, which coincide with the conclusion of the NFL regular season.
2.6: $10 will be given to the team with the highest point total during each week of YGFFL regular season play. The $10 shall be split evenly amongst all winning franchises in the case of a tie.
2.7: Franchises losing in the first round of the YGFFL Playoffs will each receive $40. Franchises losing in the semi-finals of the YGFFL Playoffs will each receive $60. The YGFFL Champion will receive 75% of the remaining pot with the runner-up receiving the other 25%.
2.8: Each year, the YGFFL Champion will also receive the YGFFL Trophy. However, the YGFFL Champion will pay for the shipping and engraving of the trophy out of their winnings.
YGFFL ROSTERS
3.1: YGFFL franchise rosters may consist of no more than 20 players at any point in time. There are no limits on how franchises distribute their 20 roster spots by position.
YGFFL WEEKLY PLAY
3.2: For each week of YGFFL play, owners submit a starting lineup of 8 players from their 20 man roster. This lineup must consist of 1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 2 wide-receivers, 1 tight-end, 1 kicker, and 1 special teams/defensive unit.
3.3: Each YGFFL owner is responsible for setting up their weekly lineup and getting it set up on time as stipulated by the website running the league. Usually, a player can be inserted into an owner’s starting lineup up until that player’s NFL game has kicked off for that particular week.
3.4: YGFFL teams compete in head-to-head competition on a weekly basis. The team with the most points accumulated by their starting lineup is declared the winner. The team with the least points is declared the loser. Ties may occur during YGFFL regular season play.
3.5: The YGFFL regular season consists of a 13 game schedule in which each YGFFL franchise plays the other 13 franchises once. The YGFFL regular season schedule is determined by the website running the league prior to the start of each season.
3.6: A cumulative total of weekly points scored by each franchise during the YGFFL regular season will be kept for tie-breaking purposes at seasons’ end.
YGFFL SCORING
3.7: In general, a YGFFL franchise scores a point for each point scored in the NFL by the eight NFL players in their weekly starting lineup.
3.8: Specifically, the YGFFL scoring system is as follows:
Positional Players receive:
Kickers receive:
Special Teams/Defensive Units receive:
3.9: Special scoring situations may arise that deviate from those listed above. The Board of Commissioners will rule on each special scoring situation as they occur. Special scoring situations that have been decided on in the past are as follows:
3.10: Scoring will be done by the website running the league. Each YGFFL owner is responsible for checking the accuracy of the scoring for their team as well as for their opponent each week. If discrepancies are discovered, owners have until Sunday at noon, two weeks after the week in dispute, to report them to the YGFFL Commissioner and he will change the official score on the website after board approval.
4.1: At the end of the YGFFL regular season, each YGFFL franchise is ranked within its respective division according to winning percentage. Winning percentage is calculated as the total number of wins divided by the total number of games played (tie games count as ½ win and ½ loss for the purpose of this calculation). The team with the highest winning percentage in each division is declared the Division Champion and the other franchises within the division are ranked accordingly.
4.2: Playoff ties are broken by the total overall points scored during the regular season. If there is a tie for overall points, then the 2nd tiebreaker is head-to-head during the regular season. If there was a tie in the head-to-head, then it would go to a coin-flip.
4.3: The three Division Champions advance to the YGFFL Playoffs along with three Wild Card Teams. These “wild cards” are the three teams with the best overall winning percentages among the non-division winners. Ties are broken as stated in YGFFL Bylaw 3.6.
4.4 Here is a Blank YGFFL Playoff Bracket.
5.1: The YGFFL Draft will occur at least one week prior to the start of each NFL regular season. The exact date and time will be determined well in advance of the draft so that all YGFFL owners can make arrangements to participate. The draft traditionally takes place on-line during one of the final weekends in August.
5.2: The YGFFL is a “Dynasty League”, meaning rosters are retained from season to season. YGFFL Bylaw 3.1 must be adhered to during the draft. Therefore, players will be dropped from YGFFL rosters during the course of the draft. An owner can choose to not draft and they would retain their entire 20 team roster from the previous season.
5.3: All players on NFL rosters are eligible for the YGFFL Draft and may be drafted as long as they are not currently on another YGFFL roster. If a player is NOT on an NFL roster at the time of the draft, then they cannot be drafted.
5.4: The YGFFL Draft will follow a #1 through #14 pick each round. The team with the worst record from the previous season will pick 1st at the beginning of each round.
5.5: The YGFFL Draft order is determined based on the outcome of the previous YGFFL season, with picks #1 through #8 going to the eight franchises that did not qualify for the YGFFL Playoffs. The first overall pick goes to the team with the lowest winning percentage and picks #2 through #8 follow in order of increasing winning percentage. Picks #9 and #10 go to the first round playoff losers, with pick #9 going to the team with the worst winning percentage. Picks #11 and #12 go to the semi-final losers, with pick #11 going to the team with the worst winning percentage. Pick #13 goes to the YGFFL Runner-Up, and pick #14 goes to the YGFFL Champion. All ties are broken as stated in YGFFL Bylaw 3.6, with the higher ranked team getting the worst draft pick.
5.6: YGFFL franchises may decide to stop drafting at any time. Once a team has quit, their picks are skipped and the draft continues in order, until every franchise is finished drafting.
5.7: There are no specific time limits set for each pick. However, each franchise should try to make their picks in a reasonable amount of time (15 minutes).
5.8: All draft picks may be traded, including future draft considerations.
