Joe Flacco, the 38-year-old quarterback who signed with Cleveland less than two weeks ago, will start for the Browns on Sunday at the Los Angeles Rams.
The Browns (7-4) announced Friday that rookie starter Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been ruled out against the Rams (5-6) as he continues through the concussion protocol. He has not practiced this week, and Flacco has taken the majority of first-team reps as the team practiced at UCLA.
Flacco was 1-8 in nine starts with the New York Jets over the past three seasons. He threw for 1,051 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions in five games (four starts) last season. Flacco was unsigned since the end of the 2022 season until the Browns rang after starter Deshaun Watson's season-ending shoulder injury.
Then Thompson-Robinson exited late in the third quarter of last week's loss to the host Denver Browns with a concussion and was replaced by P.J. Walker. Flacco will start Sunday and Walker will be his backup.
"I love playing this game, and any time an opportunity kind of presents itself, you just got to be patient and see what's in store for you," Flacco said on Thursday.
Flacco has amassed 42,320 yards through the air with 232 touchdowns and 147 interceptions for the Baltimore Ravens (2008-18), Denver Broncos (2019) and Jets (2020-22).
Flacco led Baltimore to a Super Bowl in 2013 and was named MVP as the Ravens beat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31.
In other news Friday, the Browns ruled out wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (concussion) and cornerback Denzel Ward (shoulder). Neither practiced this week, and Ward was out in Week 12 with the injury. Goodwin last played Nov. 5.
Cleveland center Nick Harris (knee) was limited at practice Thursday and is questionable for the game.
San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody continued his redemption tour on Thanksgiving in Seattle last week. The rookie kicker went through some rough times during San Francisco's mid-season three-game losing streak, missing three high-profile field goals. Moody has put his struggles behind him since then, hitting all six of his opportunities, albeit with no attempts over 39 yards. He'll take on the Eagles on Sunday in Philadelphia, where there is a 75% chance of rain but winds are expected to be calm. Philly has limited kickers to 6.5 fantasy points per game, which is the fifth-stingiest in the league, but San Francisco's offensive prowess provides Moody with a safe floor. He's a worthy start in Week 13.

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has been an extremely volatile fantasy asset this year, offering week-winning performances in four of his outings, but scoring fewer than five 0.5 PPR points in five different games. In Week 12, he cooled off after three straight hot ones, catching just three balls on five targets for 19 yards at Seattle. Kittle will take on a struggling Eagles pass defense on Sunday in Philadelphia. Philly's defense has been torn apart by wide receivers this year but they've been vulnerable to tight ends as well, albeit to a lesser degree, allowing the eighth-most standard fantasy points per game to tight ends. With a plus matchup and a thin pool at his position in Week 13, Kittle is projected behind only Travis Kelce among must-start TE1s.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel's usage in the passing game spiked last week in a 31-13 win at the Seattle Seahawks. The dual-threat dynamo led San Francisco with nine targets and turned them into seven catches for 79 yards while adding 15 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Samuel hadn't exceeded four targets in the six games preceding. He has a good matchup in Week 13 as the team travels to Philadelphia to take on the 10-1 Eagles in a blockbuster matchup on Sunday. Philadelphia is the worst in the NFL at limiting fantasy wide receivers, allowing a whopping 30 standard points per game to the position. Part of the reason is that their rush defense is third-best in the league, causing a pass funnel for opponents, so it could be hard to find traction on any carries Samuel gets. Look for the 49ers to get creative with a gadget play or two involving Samuel as they scheme for an edge against their toughest opponent yet. He'll be a fringe WR1 with momentum and a matchup boost.

Arizona Cardinals wide-out Rondale Moore recorded two catches on just three targets for 35 yards in the team's 37-14 loss to the Rams in Week 12. Moore had no problem securing offensive snaps (53 of 71), but couldn't crack the 40 yards from scrimmage mark for the eighth time this year. He also has only three total catches over his last two games combined. To that end, Moore continues to be a non-factor for fantasy purposes. Despite his big-play potential, Moore is simply not doing enough, and the outlook for Week 13 appears even more bleak, as the Cardinals will take on a solid pass defense in the Steelers. As a result, Moore is best left on the fantasy bench.

Arizona Cardinals kicker Matt Prater could be a steaming option heading into Week 13. With the re-emergence of quarterback Kyler Murray leading the Arizona passing game, Prater has become a viable fantasy option once again. However, In Week 12, Prater put up a goose egg, missing his only field goal attempt from 56 yards out. In his defense, the Cardinals' offense was anemic and did not call on him for an extra point in the entire game. In other words, fantasy managers should throw Week 12 out the window, as Prater has kicked a solid 19 field goals on the year. The veteran kicker has missed just four kicks all season and remains a decent option, despite the lack of consistency from the Arizona offense. Managers in need of kicking help should consider him for Week 13.

Arizona Cardinals running back Michael Carter debuted in Week 12 against the L.A. Rams less than two weeks after joining his new team. He appeared to be the No. 2 RB in the backfield behind incumbent James Conner as he finished with just two fewer carries. In Week 13, Carter and the Arizona offense face off against a Pittsburgh defense allowing the seventh-fewest rushing yards per game to opposing running backs. With that in mind, the team could utilize Carter's passing-catching skills to help offset the defense and keep Conner healthy. As such, fantasy managers can view Carter as an RB3/4 with the potential to deliver some viable fantasy production.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Greg Dortch has reemerged in the Cardinals' passing game over the last two weeks. With the injury to rookie Michael Wilson (shoulder), Dortch has started to see an increase in playing time. In his last two games, Dortch has a combined 9-103-1 line on 17 targets. With Wilson once again out for Week 13, Dortch could be in line for increased playing time as he's also outplayed teammate Rondale Moore. The matchup, however, isn't a particularly great one, as the Steelers rank as one of the best pass defenses in the league. To that end, fantasy managers should view Dortch as nothing more than a WR4 or potential dart-throw.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been holding his own in fantasy over the past few weeks despite limited volume. The 49ers' WR1 has averaged 16.4 half-PPR points over the past three games despite averaging only 4.3 targets and 3.3 receptions in that span. Last week in Seattle, Aiyuk finished with two catches on four targets for 50 yards but applied some touchdown deodorant midway through the fourth quarter. He enters Sunday's marquee matchup at the Philadelphia Eagles with a three-game touchdown streak and ranking second in the NFL in yards per reception at 19.6. The Eagles have allowed a whopping 30 fantasy points per game to wide receivers which is the most generous in the NFL. There's always a chance that such low volume falls flat, but Aiyuk should be slotted into fantasy lineups as a back-end WR1 with upside in what could be a Week 13 shootout.
From RotoBaller
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray had a decent fantasy performance in Week 12 against the Rams, but there's a real possibility that trend may not continue in Week 13. In his last three games, Murray's rushing production has propped up his pedestrian passing numbers, as he ranks 30th in passer rating among 40 qualifying quarterbacks. This week's game against the Steelers doesn't bode well for his success either, as Pittsburgh has been one of the best defenses against the pass since Week 9. To that end, Murray will need his rushing production to help keep him in the QB1 territory, and as such, can't currently be ranked any higher than a QB2 with upside.
From RotoBaller
Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner quickly fell victim to play script in last week's blowout loss to the Rams as he played in only 42% of the team's snaps. That was a low number for him, as he averages closer to 66%. In Week 13, it could be more of the same, as Conner and the Cardinals go up against a Pittsburgh Steelers team that has allowed the seventh-lowest rushing yards per game since Week 7. This game has the makings of another situation where Conner may have difficulty finding any running room, and the team may choose to see what they have in new teammate Michael Carter. To that end, fantasy managers should view Conner as at best an RB2/3 in Week 13.

San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell carried the football seven times for 39 yards in the team's 31-13 Thanksgiving day defeat of the Seattle Seahawks. Over the past six games, Mitchell has 25 carries for 84 yards, an average of 3.4 yards per tote. Only 12 of those carries have come outside of garbage time and he's only been targeted twice in the passing game. Mitchell also remains stuck on zero touchdowns for the year. Christian McCaffrey's continued workhorse role means that Mitchell remains unplayable this week at Philadelphia but fantasy managers who have clinched a playoff berth and have a potential weakness at RB or FLEX would be wise to stash Mitchell in case McCaffrey misses time.
From RotoBaller
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey had a typical McCaffrey performance last week in a 31-13 win in Seattle, dropping 114 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the Seahawks to go with five receptions for 25 yards. While McCaffrey's status as the overall RB1 this year may not be surprising, the degree to which he's monopolized San Francisco's backfield touches is pretty incredible. In the past six games, backup Elijah Mitchell has a total of 12 non-garbage time rush attempts, while McCaffrey has 94. In Week 13 McCaffrey squares off against the top-rated Philadelphia Eagles run defense, who have only allowed 9.9 standard fantasy points per game to running backs. McCaffrey is matchup-proof though, attributable not only to his rushing skill but his involvement in the passing game, as he's averaged 5.7 high-percentage targets per game in that same six-game span. Fire up CMC once again as the fantasy's alpha RB1 on Sunday.
From RotoBaller
On Thanksgiving night, the San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Brock Purdy took care of business in Seattle as they rolled the Seahawks 31-13. Purdy's performance was a solid "real football" one as the 49ers' offense looked unstoppable at times, but his numbers were a fantasy disappointment. Along with a pick-six, Purdy barely threw for 200 yards and only one touchdown, finishing as the QB20. Sunday, Purdy returns to Philadelphia for the first time since his elbow injury deflated the 49ers in their opening offensive drive of the 2022 NFC Championship Game. The Eagles' defense has been shockingly generous to opposing quarterbacks in fantasy, allowing 21.5 points per game which is good for second-worst in the league. Chalk that number up to Philly's pass-funnel defense -- which gives up the third-fewest rushing yards per game -- and opponents chasing points against the third-best offense in the league. At the same time, it's unlikely that the 49ers will be immune to these trends, as the over/under stands at 48 points. Due to byes for a few top QB options and a potential shootout, elevate Purdy to upper mid-tier QB1 status in Week 13.

Green Bay Packers defensive end Rashan Gary has a tough matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13. While Gary has been booming lately, having made 4.0 sacks in the past two games, IDP managers might want to sit him in Week 13. The Chiefs are allowing just 1.3 sacks per game, which is tied for the fewest in the league. They have the third-best offensive line in PFF's Week 13 offensive line rankings, and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has the lowest pressure-to-sack rate of any quarterback. Opposing defensive ends Maxx Crosby and Haason Reddick made a single sack each in their matchups against the Chiefs in the past two weeks, but that might be his ceiling.
From RotoBaller
Washington Commanders cornerback Benjamin St-Juste faces the high-volume passing attack of the Miami Dolphins in Week 13 in what should be a good IDP matchup. While the Dolphins only rank No. 16 for pass attempts per game, they complete the vast majority of the passes they attempt, leading the team to rank No. 10 in passes completed per game. Their successful passing attack makes opposing defensive backs busy. Last week, Jets' cornerback D.J. Reed made 10 tackles and one interception against the Dolphins, scoring 30.5 points in the IDP Invitational scoring system. In each of the Dolphins' past three games, the opposing defense produced at least one IDP CB who scored 20 or more fantasy points. St-Juste is a streamer in Week 13.

Los Angeles Rams linebacker Ernest Jones is has a great matchup in Week 13 against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are averaging over 33 rushing attempts per game, and Jones excels at defending the run. Per PFF, Jones has been the No. 13 best linebacker against the run. He has made 93 combined tackles, the 17th-most of any player at any position. The Browns are one of the top five teams in terms of allowing fantasy points to opposing IDP LBs, largely due to the linebackers' heavy opportunity for making tackles against running backs. With injuries to their quarterbacks and Joe Flacco starting his first game of the season, the Browns might lean on the run, making Jones a strong start.
From RotoBaller
Miami Dolphins linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel is likely to see dozens of snaps lined up as defensive end against a sack-prone Washington Commanders team in Week 13. Van Ginkel has been a dynamic player who has split time between outside linebacker and inside linebacker. He made four sacks as a defensive end earlier this season when starting DE Jaelan Phillips missed time. Phillips (Achilles) was placed on the IR last week, so Van Ginkel will likely return to the defensive line. He routinely lined up for over 40 snaps from the line and as many as 61 during Phillips' earlier absence. Rushing the Commanders from the line will give him a lot of sack opportunities against the team that is allowing the second-most sacks this season.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney (ankle/hip) fully practiced all week and has been cleared from Week 13's injury report. Toney sat out Week 12's 31-17 victory over the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders due to ankle and hip injuries, but he'll be back out there in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, presumably in his typical gadget role. Toney's role as a pseudo "wide back" has not yielded any semblance of the returns fantasy managers may have envisioned during this past summer. Toney has totaled 22 catches (30 targets) for 139 yards and one touchdown, which checks out to an anemic 6.3 yards per catch and 4.6 yards per target. The enigmatic 24-year-old talent has taken eight carries for nine yards, as well. Toney has simply been unable to bounce back from his three-drop Week 1 disaster to this point, and there's little reason to believe that the debacle will finally galvanize him into a usable WR5/6 finish on SNF.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore (knee) practiced fully all week and has been removed from Week 13's injury report. Moore has emerged with a knee injury, but it didn't cost him any game action during Week 12's 31-17 win over the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders. The 23-year-old was not a big part of the comeback victory, collecting each of his three targets for 34 yards. A consolation prize for Moore is that last Sunday marked his highest output in catches and yards since Week 4, which is a more an indictment of the 2022 second-round pick's Year 2 struggles than anything else. Moore hasn't participated on 50% of his possible routes in any game since that Week 4 contest, remaining miles from fantasy relevance in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football as a WR5/6.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker hasn't missed a single kick since Super Bowl LVII, burying 20-of-20 field goals and 28-of-28 extra points this season. Dallas Cowboys standout rookie Brandon Aubrey is the only other every-week kicker to not miss a field goal this year. With Justin Tucker and Tyler Bass on a Week 13 bye, Butker is a popular candidate to top weekly positional rankings alongside Jason Sanders on Sunday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers. Snow is in the forecast at Lambeau Field during the afternoon, but the kicking conditions should be fairly manageable by the time nightfall arrives on SNF, considering the type of weather the "frozen tundra" is prone to experience during the winter months as we begin December. Despite averaging the fourth-fewest fantasy points (5.3) over the last four weeks since Week 9, Butker remains worth starting in all season-long fantasy leagues in a humming Chiefs offense.
