Jets release S Adrian Amos

Sat Dec 2 2:06pm ET
Field Level Media

The New York Jets are releasing backup safety Adrian Amos, multiple outlets reported Saturday.

The Jets signed Amos, a teammate of quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, to a one-year $1.75 million guaranteed deal in June.

Amos, 30, had started every game over the past five seasons before signing with the Jets. He has played in all 11 games, starting three, but has taken part of just 34 percent of the team's defensive snaps.

In his previous eight seasons, he played at least 92 percent of the snaps seven times for the Chicago Bears (2015-18) and Packers (2019-22).

In 137 career games (125 starts), Amos has 659 tackles, six sacks, 10 interceptions, 49 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

With the Jets, he tallied 23 tackles and one pass defended.

Jordan Whitehead and Tony Adams are entrenched as the starters at safety for the Jets (4-7).

New York hosts the Atlanta Falcons (5-6) on Sunday.

Top Fantasy Plays: Week 13

Player Notes
Nico Collins Dec 2 3:00pm ET
Nico Collins

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is a must-start in fantasy in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos. Collins is coming off a strong performance in Week 12, catching seven passes for 104 yards and one touchdown. The young wideout has now totaled at least seven catches and 65-plus receiving yards in back-to-back games for the first time this year. Even if All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II shadows Collins this weekend, the Texans wideout should still see plenty of opportunities in a game that has the second-highest over/under (47) of Week 13.

Brevin Jordan Dec 2 3:00pm ET
Brevin Jordan

Houston Texans tight ends Brevin Jordan and Eric Saubert will see bigger roles in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos with Dalton Schultz (hamstring) already ruled out for the contest. Jordan will likely fill in as Schultz's replacement on Sunday, while Saubert will act as the TE2 for Houston. Both tight ends have a great matchup in Week 13 against a Broncos secondary that is giving up the most fantasy points per game to tight ends this season. Jordan should have more of an impact in this game but should only be started in deep formats or tight end premium leagues.

C.J. Stroud Dec 2 2:50pm ET
C.J. Stroud

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is a strong fantasy option in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos. Stroud did land on the injury report earlier in the week with a thigh issue but managed to practice in full on Wednesday. He should have no limitations on Sunday against a Broncos defense that is giving up the 11th most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. Denver has been better at defending the pass over the past couple of weeks. However, Stroud is playing at an MVP level right now. He's finished as a top-10 fantasy quarterback in three of the last four games, making him a must-start in Week 13.

Dameon Pierce Dec 2 2:50pm ET
Dameon Pierce

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce will look to get going on the ground in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos. Pierce returned to action last week following a three-game absence due to an ankle injury. But in his return, he had just six touches for 18 yards on 11 snaps. He figures to get more touches this weekend against a Broncos defense that is allowing the most fantasy points per game to running backs this season. Even in a great matchup, though, Pierce will be hard to trust this week and is more of a low-end flex play in Week 13.

From RotoBaller

Devin Singletary Dec 2 2:50pm ET
Devin Singletary

Houston Texans running back Devin Singletary will look to continue his nice fantasy stretch in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos. Singletary led the Texans' backfield last week and had 12 touches for 72 yards in the contest. With Dameon Pierce working his way back from a three-game absence, the 26-year-old veteran out-snapped Pierce 49 to 11 in Week 12. Even if that number moves more to a 60/40 backfield split, Singletary is still a solid flex play against a Broncos defense that is allowing the most fantasy points per game to running backs this season.

Jerick McKinnon Dec 2 2:50pm ET
Jerick McKinnon

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jerick McKinnon (groin) has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers. This news comes as a bit of a surprise as head coach Andy Reid told reporters on Friday that he expected McKinnon to play on Sunday night. Running back Deneric Prince has been elevated to the active roster to provide some more depth in the backfield as a result. McKinnon has had a quiet season thus far, totaling 30 rushing yards and 155 receiving yards to go along with three touchdowns in 10 games. McKinnon got off to a similar slow start in 2022 before erupting down the stretch to finish the year. The Chiefs will be cautious with the veteran running back to keep him healthy for the stretch run.

C.J. Stroud Dec 2 2:50pm ET
C.J. Stroud

During their current five-game winning streak, the Denver Broncos defense/special teams has been a top-five fantasy unit, picking up nine sacks, 10 fumble recoveries, five interceptions and even a safety for good measure. They had the pleasure of facing a rookie quarterback in the Week 12 victory over the Cleveland Browns. They'll get another rookie signal-caller in Week 13 when they face the Houston Texans, but C.J. Stroud has been one of the most electrifying QBs in the NFL in his first season in the league. Houston hasn't been a great matchup for opposing defenses in 2023 and they have a plus-four turnover differential while being middle of the pack in terms of sacks allowed. Forcing turnovers has been the Denver D's bread and butter during their recent winning streak. Fantasy managers should be fading the Broncos D/ST in Week 13.

Wil Lutz Dec 2 2:40pm ET
Wil Lutz

Denver Broncos kicker Wil Lutz (hip) put in a full practice on Friday and was removed from the Week 13 injury report. He will be active on Sunday against the Houston Texans and will be on the streaming radar for fantasy managers scrambling at the position with six teams on bye this week. Lutz has been a top-five fantasy kicker during Denver's five-game winning streak, making 12 of his 13 field-goal attempts and six of his seven extra-point tries. The Texans have been middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed to kickers in 2023, but in the last five weeks, they've allowed nine points per game to the position, the fourth-most in the NFL. The 29-year-old Lutz has missed only two of his 25 field-goal attempts on the year, including three of four tries from 50-plus yards. He's on the rise.

Yetur Gross-Matos Dec 2 2:40pm ET
Yetur Gross-Matos

Carolina Panthers cornerbacks Jaycee Horn (hamstring), Jeremy Chinn (quad), and OLB Yetur Gross-Matos (hamstring) have all been activated from IR and will play in Week 13 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Interim head coach Chris Tabor is getting back some significant defensive reinforcements for his first game as the Panthers' HC. Horn has been on IR since Week 1 after suffering a significant hamstring injury and Jeremy Chinn hasn't played since Week 6. The return of all three players should raise the tide of the Panthers' defense but they're still hard to trust as a streaming option this week.

From RotoBaller

Adam Trautman Dec 2 2:30pm ET
Adam Trautman

Denver Broncos tight end Adam Trautman caught his second touchdown pass of the year in the Week 12 victory over the Cleveland Browns, but the eight-yard, highlight-reel grab was his only target of the game. He'll have a nice matchup in Week 13 against a Houston Texans defense that has been a top-10 matchup for opposing TEs this season, allowing the third-most receiving yards (739). The Broncos could have some more success through the air this weekend in Houston, but Trautman still shouldn't be a consideration as a streamer at the position, even with six teams on bye in Week 13. The 26-year-old ranks 35th among all TEs with 32.5 half-PPR point on the season. Trautman has only 16 receptions on the year for 125 yards in 11 games and is averaging 5.43 yards per target.

From RotoBaller

Jerry Jeudy Dec 2 2:10pm ET
Jerry Jeudy

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (groin) was on this week's injury report with a groin injury but practiced in full on Friday and will play on Sunday. He will be hoping to finally make some noise in Week 13 on the road against the Houston Texans. He's coming off his worst performance of the year, catching two of his three targets for 11 yards in the win over the Cleveland Browns. The Broncos could have some success through the air this Sunday against Houston, but Jeudy has found the end zone only once in 2023 and is a distant No. 2 to Courtland Sutton. On top of it, the Texans secondary has allowed just six touchdowns to wideouts all year. The lone reason for optimism from Jeudy as a WR4/flex option in deeper fantasy leagues is the fact that he has seen at least five targets in all but two games this year and has reached 50 receiving yards in six of 10 games.

From RotoBaller

Joe Flacco Dec 2 2:10pm ET
Joe Flacco

Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco has been elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's Week 13 contest against the Los Angeles Rams. It's been known for several days that Flacco would be starting on Sunday but this makes it official. Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) is on the shelf with a concussion and the Browns like their chances more with the veteran Flacco under center than P.J. Walker. The 38-year-old QB hasn't put together any good tape since way back in 2018 when he was still on the Ravens and should be avoided for fantasy purposes. Expect Cleveland to pound the rock on Sunday as they look to keep it close against the Rams.

From RotoBaller

Marvin Mims Dec 2 2:10pm ET
Marvin Mims

Denver Broncos rookie wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. (hamstring) was on this week's injury report but was removed after putting in a full practice on Friday. Mims will be active in Week 13 against the Houston Texans, but he shouldn't be in starting fantasy lineups. The 21-year-old has dabbled on offense in his first NFL season, but he's been more valuable to Denver as a return man on special teams. Mims has a grand total of only 15 catches on 21 targets for 282 yards and one touchdown in 11 games this year. He's played over 50 percent of the offensive snaps in a game just twice. Mims is always a threat to make a big play down the field given his speed, but he just hasn't been involved enough on offense to make him a realistic fantasy weapon.

From RotoBaller

Courtland Sutton Dec 2 2:00pm ET
Courtland Sutton

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton snapped a five-game touchdown streak in last week's win over the Cleveland Browns, catching three of his six targets for 61 yards. Sutton, who is tied for third among wideouts this year with eight touchdowns in 11 games, will be looking to start a new touchdown streak against the Houston Texans in Week 13, but it won't be easy. The Texans defense has been an OK matchup for opposing wideouts this year, but Houston has allowed just six total touchdowns to the position. Although Sutton has seen double-digit targets only twice this year, he's still quarterback Russell Wilson's go-to target, especially in the red zone. Sutton has relied on TDs for his fantasy value in 2023, but he should have a solid floor this weekend as a low-end WR2/high-end WR3 against the Texans.

From RotoBaller

Samaje Perine Dec 2 1:50pm ET
Samaje Perine

Denver Broncos running back Samaje Perine began the year as Denver's "lead back" with Javonte Williams being eased in due to a knee injury he suffered the year prior. Perine then lost the No. 2 role to rookie Jaleel McLaughlin midway through the year. However, in the last two games, Perine has re-emerged, catching seven passes for 60 yards in Week 11 and carrying the ball seven times for 55 yards and a touchdown in last week's win over the Cleveland Browns. The 28-year-old's TD plunge last Sunday came when Williams was being evaluated for an injury, though, so fantasy managers probably shouldn't put too much stock in it. Against the Houston Texans in Week 13, Perine will be battling for touches with McLaughlin behind Williams, making him more of an RB4/flex in the deepest of fantasy leagues.

From RotoBaller

Javonte Williams Dec 2 1:40pm ET
Javonte Williams

Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams had a season-high 19.0 half-PPR fantasy points in the Week 10 win over the Buffalo Bills but then had back-to-back lackluster outings the last two games against the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns. He has double-digit half-PPR performances only three times this year, but all three of them have come during Denver's current five-game winning streak. Williams has seen 20-plus touches in three of the last four games, too, so the volume is there for him to be an RB2 in fantasy lineups. The 23-year-old has yet to score a rushing touchdown, though, and the Houston Texans defense, who Williams will face in Week 13, is more attackable through the air than on the ground. Houston's D has only allowed 15.5 half-PPR points per game to RBs in the last five weeks.

From RotoBaller

Russell Wilson Dec 2 1:30pm ET
Russell Wilson

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson enters Week 13 as a low-end QB1 streaming option against a Houston Texans defense that has allowed 252.5 passing yards per game, the sixth-most in football through 12 weeks. The Texans have been a top-10 matchup for opposing QBs in terms of fantasy points per game as well in 2023, so Wilson certainly has an opportunity to go over 200 yards passing for what would only be the fifth time this year. The 35-year-old isn't lighting up the scoreboard in terms of yards in his second year in Denver, but he's looked much more athletic and is taking care of the football first and foremost -- 20 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He's thrown at least one touchdown pass in all 11 games as well and some intriguing upside on the road against Houston in Week 13.

From RotoBaller

Chris Brooks Dec 2 1:20pm ET
Chris Brooks

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Chris Brooks (ankle) will not come off Injured Reserve on Saturday and has been ruled out for the Week 13 game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday. The Dolphins opened the 21-day window for Brooks to be activated from Injured Reserve earlier this week, but he's not quite ready just yet. The 23-year-old has been out since Week 6 with an ankle injury and will purely be depth at the running back position for the Dolphins whenever he is activated from IR. In his first six NFL games before suffering an ankle injury, Brooks had 15 rushing attempts for 94 yards and no touchdowns and wasn't targeted at all in the passing game. He's not anywhere near the fantasy radar.

From RotoBaller

Jaycee Horn Dec 2 1:10pm ET
Jaycee Horn

The Carolina Panthers activated cornerback Jaycee Horn (hamstring) from Injured Reserve on Saturday, according to sources. Horn has been out since Week 1 due to a severe hamstring injury. It's unclear if the former top-10 pick will be available to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13 on Sunday, but he will at least be available for the Panthers' secondary. Donte Jackson and CJ Henderson are likely to remain as the team's starting cornerbacks this weekend, but Horn will give the team some more depth in their secondary for the final six games of the season. The 24-year-old has played in only 17 games in his three NFL seasons since being taken eighth overall by the Panthers in 2021 out of South Carolina.

From RotoBaller

Tee Higgins Dec 2 1:00pm ET
Tee Higgins

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring) will play on Monday Night Football in Week 13 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Higgins missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury he suffered in practice, but he returned to a full practice on Friday and is now good to go to face the Jags on Monday night. The 24-year-old had his first 100-yard game of the year the last time he was on the field, but that was when quarterback Joe Burrow (wrist) was still healthy. Now that Burrow is done for the year, Higgins' rest-of-the-season fantasy stock will take a pretty big hit while now having to work with Jake Browning. Higgins should take over as the team's No. 2 receiver behind Ja'Marr Chase, but he'll have a much lower ceiling and floor than he did with Burrow around.
