Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence likely a game-time decision vs. Browns

Fri Dec 8 12:14pm ET
Field Level Media

Whether Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns is likely to be a game-time decision, coach Doug Pederson said Friday.

Lawrence, 24, sustained a high ankle sprain during the team's 34-31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday and returned to practice Thursday in a limited capacity.

"He's feeling good, we'll see," Pederson said Friday. "He moved around a little bit yesterday, we'll see how he does today. Kind of base it on medical staff, how Trevor feels and if he can go or not."

Lawrence was expected to practice on Friday, and Pederson said his quarterback would be listed as questionable against the Browns on the team's injury report.

Lawrence has 3,004 yards passing, 14 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 94.4 passer rating on the season. He also has 248 yards rushing with four scores on the ground.

Should Lawrence be unable to play, veteran backup C.J. Beathard likely would start for Jacksonville (8-4) at Cleveland (7-5).

Week 14 Preview: Under the Radar Plays

Player Notes
Jonathan Taylor Dec 8 1:30pm ET
Jonathan Taylor

Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen has officially ruled out running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) from the Week 14 game this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Taylor had surgery on his right thumb last week and will now miss his second straight game after missing another full week of practice. Fantasy managers must keep the 24-year-old lead back stashed for now, but he's expected to miss anywhere from three to five weeks, so there remains a chance that he won't be available at all to teams as they try to win a fantasy title in 2023. In the meantime, Zack Moss will operate as Indy's lead back. He'll be a must-start RB1 for fantasy lineups this weekend in a great matchup against the Bengals.

D'Onta Foreman Dec 8 1:30pm ET
D'Onta Foreman

Chicago Bears running back D'Onta Foreman, sidelined in Week 12 with an ankle injury, is set to return after the bye week. The 27-year-old has consistently produced at least 65 yards in games where he received significant touches, yet the emergence of Roschon Johnson and the presence of Khalil Herbert may limit his workload. Johnson is expected to handle the bulk of the receiving work while still seeing some handoffs, with Herbert and Foreman sharing the rushing attempts. While Foreman is likely to remain involved near the goal line, relying solely on touchdowns carries inherent risks. Facing the Lions in Week 14, who allow the fourth-fewest points per game to running backs this season, adds another layer of caution. It's advisable to keep Foreman out of lineups until there's clarity on his role moving forward, navigating the potential complexities in the Bears' backfield distribution.

Amari Cooper Dec 8 1:20pm ET
Amari Cooper

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper (concussion) is listed as questionable to play in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cooper didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday but returned to the practice field on Friday. However, the 29-year-old pass-catcher has yet to clear the league's concussion protocol and is still in danger of missing this Sunday's contest. Cooper has been injured in back-to-back weeks now and has just five catches (11 targets) for 50 yards in those games. He's looking to be a pretty shaky fantasy option for Week 14 lineups, especially if you need a win to get into the playoffs. If Cooper is unable to clear the protocols in time for Sunday's game, Elijah Moore figures to be heavily targeted by quarterback Joe Flacco. Cedric Tillman, David Bell and tight end David Njoku would have bigger roles as well.

Roschon Johnson Dec 8 1:20pm ET
Roschon Johnson

Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson has struggled to find a consistent role in 2023, but he's coming off season-high usage in their last game in Week 12. The rookie rushed 10 times for 35 yards and caught all five targets for 40 yards, playing on 74% of the snaps. Before Week 12, Johnson had never played more than 45% of the snaps and saw a drastic increase with D'Onta Foreman (ankle) out. Rookies typically receive larger roles following the bye, and Johnson could maintain a similar workload for the rest of the season. Foreman isn't on the injury report ahead of Week 14, set to return, and Khalil Herbert is likely to get touches. The Bears face the Lions in Week 14, who allow the fourth-fewest points per game to running backs this season. While Johnson may not see much work near the goal line, his receiving usage makes him an intriguing but risky option for Week 14.

Tommy Tremble Dec 8 1:10pm ET
Tommy Tremble

Carolina Panthers tight ends Tommy Tremble (hip) and Stephen Sullivan (shoulder) are both listed as questionable to play on Sunday in the Week 14 game versus the Saints in New Orleans. Hayden Hurst (concussion) will also miss his fourth straight game, so it's possible that Ian Thomas serves as the team's top pass-catching tight end this weekend. Tremble was unable to play in the Week 13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but if he's given the green light to play on Sunday, he'll be the best bet for fantasy managers desperate for a tight end streamer in the deepest of leagues. In 11 games in 2023, Tremble has only 13 receptions for 84 yards, although he's found the end zone three times. The smart move is to look elsewhere for a fantasy tight end.

Cole Kmet Dec 8 1:10pm ET
Cole Kmet

Chicago Bears tight end Cole Kmet showcased a strong rebound in Week 12, amassing seven catches for 43 yards after enduring two consecutive games with less than 10 PPR points. The 24-year-old has consistently received at least six targets in seven out of the 11 games this year, establishing himself as a reliable option in the Bears' offense, irrespective of the quarterback situation. Currently ranked as TE7 in PPR formats, Kmet maintains an average of 11.2 points per game. As the Bears gear up to face the Lions in Week 14, who allow the ninth-most points to tight ends this season, Kmet is poised for another impactful performance. In their Week 11 clash, the Notre Dame alum caught three of four targets for 20 yards, a result of the Bears maintaining a lead for most of the game. With his recent consistency, Kmet stands as a solid starting tight end option for Week 14.

Maxx Crosby Dec 8 1:10pm ET
Maxx Crosby

Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce said that he expects All-Pro pass-rusher Maxx Crosby (knee) to play on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Crosby and the Raiders are coming off their bye, but the 26-year-old did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Before the bye, Crosby was doubtful to play in Week 12 before surprisingly suiting up and recording another sack on a season-low 82 percent of the defensive snaps. Crosby has been a must-start defensive end in all IDP fantasy leagues because of his 11.5 sacks on the year, but he could be a more volatile play again this weekend against Minnesota if his snaps are dialed back again by the Raiders coaching staff.

From RotoBaller

Darnell Mooney Dec 8 1:00pm ET
Darnell Mooney

Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney has faced challenges throughout the year, managing just three games with at least 50 yards. The 26-year-old has been touchdown-less since Week 1 and experienced a dip in performance with less than five PPR points in three consecutive games. Despite playing 81% of the snaps in Week 12, Mooney caught only two of his three targets for a mere six yards. This disappointing display marked the eighth time this season that Mooney had two or fewer receptions, with five instances of gaining 20 or fewer yards. Heading into Week 14 against the Lions, who allow the 11th-most points to wide receivers this season, Mooney's outlook remains uncertain. In their Week 11 encounter, he managed just one catch for 24 yards. Considering the recent struggles, it's advisable to keep Mooney on benches in most leagues for Week 14.

From RotoBaller

D.J. Moore Dec 8 12:50pm ET
D.J. Moore

Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore has been dominant this year with Justin Fields, posting at least 22 PPR points in each of the last four full games with his starting quarterback. The star receiver had 11 catches for 114 yards in Week 13, marking the first time he scored at least 20 points without a touchdown. The former Panther has seen at least nine targets in the last four full games with Fields under center, demonstrating that he is the clear go-to option in the team's passing attack. In Week 14, the Bears face the Lions, who allow the 11th-most points per game to receivers this season. In their Week 11 meeting, Moore put up seven catches for 96 yards and a touchdown despite the Bears protecting a lead for most of the game. Moore ranks as a high-end WR2 for Week 14.

From RotoBaller

Hayden Hurst Dec 8 12:50pm ET
Hayden Hurst

Carolina Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst (concussion) has officially been ruled out for the Week 14 game on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Hurst actually returned to practice this week on a limited basis, but he was diagnosed with post-traumatic amnesia from the concussion he suffered in Week 10 and will now miss his fourth straight game. Hurst said his head injury isn't career-threatening, but this is not a matter he nor the Panthers will take lightly. Tommy Tremble (hip) missed the Week 13 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is questionable to play this weekend, as well as Stephen Sullivan (shoulder), so the Panthers could be down to Ian Thomas as their starting tight end against the Saints. Fantasy managers should continue to avoid Carolina's tight end situation.

From RotoBaller

Justin Fields Dec 8 12:40pm ET
Justin Fields

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields tied a season-high 37 pass attempts in Week 13, amassing 217 yards. Despite this, he managed only 10.58 fantasy points, a season-low for full games. The Ohio State alum has achieved 20 or more points in three of his last four healthy games but went without a touchdown pass in two of the previous three outings. In Week 14, the Bears face the Lions, who allow the seventh-most points to quarterbacks this season. In their Week 12 encounter, Fields threw for 169 yards and rushed for 104 yards against the Lions. Fields' rushing capabilities make him a reliable fantasy start, earning him a solid QB1 ranking, especially considering his history of dominance in such matchups throughout his young career.

From RotoBaller

Dawson Knox Dec 8 12:20pm ET
Dawson Knox

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that tight end Dawson Knox (wrist) has a chance to be activated off Injured Reserve for Sunday's Week 14 showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs. Knox has been out since injuring his wrist in Week 7, but he's been a full participant in practices this week and is trending towards being active this weekend. The 27-year-old probably won't be on the field all that much in his first game back, but his return certainly isn't great news for rookie Dalton Kincaid's fantasy managers. Knox had 15 catches on 28 targets for only 102 yards and one touchdown in seven games before his injury, but his return will surely take some valuable targets away from the impressive rookie. For now, Kincaid remains a strong TE1 in fantasy lineups.

Bailey Zappe Dec 8 12:13pm ET
Bailey Zappe

Dynasty | Bailey Zappe guided the Patriots to a 21-18 victory over the Steelers in week 14. Dynasty Analysis: At a time when the Patriots arguably need it least, Zappe threw three touchdowns to only one interception and notched a 115.2 quarterback rating. The win helps give the Bears a stranglehold on the first-overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, a pick acquired from the Panthers in a move that allowed Carolina to secure Bryce Young with the first pick in the 2023 draft. As the for the Zappe and the Patriots, any number of wins in the games that remain likely won't change the outcome of what will occur in 2024, that being a high selection of a quarterback as the team performs a complete reset at the position. Bailey Zappe remains unranked on DLF's quarterback rankings.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Kenny Pickett Dec 8 12:13pm ET
Kenny Pickett

Dynasty | Diontae Johnson scored his second touchdown in as many weeks in the Steelers week-14 victory. Dynasty Analysis: The Patriots looked to neutralize George Pickens and Johnson was able to haul in a nice over-the-shoulder reception for his third touchdown on the season. On the night he produced 57 yards on 3-of-7 receiving. With one year remaining on his contract and the team attempting to sneak into the playoffs, Johnson's future with the Steelers is clearly uncertain. It's hard to imagine the team believes Kenny Pickett is the answer at quarterback, but with looming cap issues in 2024, they may have little opportunity to do anything about it, potentially sinking the upside potential of Johnson and Pickens without a reversal of performance from Pickett. Still only 27, Johnson is found as DLF's WR35 and could slip further.

Trevor Lawrence Dec 8 12:10pm ET
Trevor Lawrence

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Friday that quarterback Trevor Lawrence's (ankle) Week 14 status will be determined by how practice goes on Friday and answered "probably so" when asked if he'll be a game-time decision on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. On a short week, Lawrence is dealing with a high-ankle sprain after getting hurt in Monday's overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Lawrence was seen throwing at practice on Thursday and was listed as limited, but he didn't really move around at all on his ankle. It was a bit surprising that the Jags didn't rule Lawrence out earlier this week, but it's still unlikely that he'll be available to play this weekend after he could barely walk to the locker room on Monday. Backup C.J. Beathard is the smart bet to start against a tough Browns defense on the road.

From RotoBaller

Christian Kirk Dec 8 12:10pm ET
Christian Kirk

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk (core, groin) will be placed on Injured Reserve and will need surgery on the core-muscle/groin injury he suffered in Monday night's overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Kirk was injured on the first offensive play of the game for the Jaguars and is expected to miss anywhere from six to eight weeks, so we probably won't see him again this season for Jacksonville. The 27-year-old will be required to miss at least four games while on IR. In his absence, Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones should serve as the top two wideouts for the Jaguars, with rookie Parker Washington likely to have a bigger role as the No. 3 receiver. Tight end Evan Engram will also see more targets in the passing game, but it might not matter much until quarterback Trevor Lawrence returns from a high-ankle sprain he suffered on Monday.

From RotoBaller

Dallas Goedert Dec 8 11:40am ET
Dallas Goedert

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert will go on the road to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14 on Sunday night. The 28-year-old suffered a forearm injury back in Week 9 when these two teams last met but has been a full participant in practice this week and looks poised to make his return. In just about one half of football, Goedert caught three of four targets for 50 yards and was on his way to a solid fantasy performance before suffering the injury. Dallas allows the 13th-most fantasy points per game to tight ends this year and is tied for the third-most touchdowns allowed to the position. Even if his snaps are limited in his first week back, fantasy managers can throw the Eagles starting tight end right back into their lineups in Week 14.

From RotoBaller

DeVonta Smith Dec 8 11:20am ET
DeVonta Smith

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith will go on the road to take on the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14 on Sunday night. The 25-year-old has gained at least 96 yards or found the end zone in each of his last three games and is on a two-game touchdown streak. Tight end Dallas Goedert (forearm) missing those games has played a role in his success, but even with the Eagles starting tight end likely to make his return this week, Smith will still be a WR2 for fantasy managers. Dallas allows the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers this year but has been burned more than a few times. Smith caught just three passes against them in their Week 9 meeting but scored a long touchdown to help propel Philadelphia to a victory. The former Heisman winner should be in all lineups this weekend.

From RotoBaller

A.J. Brown Dec 8 11:10am ET
A.J. Brown

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown will face off against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night in Week 14. The 26-year-old got back on track and gained 114 yards after two down weeks, and will look to find the end zone against Dallas again like he did in Week 9. With tight end Dallas Goedert (forearm) out the past three weeks, defenses have been able to key in on Brown and put plenty of defenders on him. However, Goedert has been practicing in full this week and will look to make his return. Dallas allows the ninth-fewest points per game to wide receivers but was torched by DK Metcalf last week for 134 yards and three touchdowns. Brown already found a way to finish with 66 yards and a touchdown against the Cowboys earlier this year and should be considered a rock-solid WR1 in the rematch this weekend.

From RotoBaller

Drake London Dec 8 10:40am ET
Drake London

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London was barely seen during last week's win over the New York Jets. The second-year wideout hauled in one of his five targets for eight yards in the victory. The assumption is that London will bounce back against the shaky Tampa Bay Buccaneers secondary in Week 14. A defensive unit that has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to wideouts this season. Fantasy managers should expect a better performance from London. He should be able to carve out W3 value this weekend.
