This is not the start the Minnesota Vikings envisioned, not after they went 13-4 a season ago (in spite of a negative point differential).
The Vikings have suffered one-score losses to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers to drop to 0-3 this season, but star wide receiver Justin Jefferson said Thursday he does not want to hear about next season or hypothetical trades for the future.
"At the end of the day, it's not going to be perfect every time," Jefferson told reporters. "There's things that you've got to go through throughout the season to really tell if you're going to be a great team or not. We're handling adversity early in the season with the turnovers and being 0-3, but there is a whole bunch of more games to go.
Jefferson leads the NFL with 458 receiving yards, which marked a league record for the first three weeks of a season. That puts him on pace for a record-breaking 2,595 yards through 17 games.
But the Vikings, who play at the winless Carolina Panthers on Sunday, have allowed the sixth-most yards and seventh-most points in the NFL.
With 35-year-old quarterback Kirk Cousins on an expiring contract, hubbub has surfaced among media and fans suggesting that the New York Jets should acquire Cousins to make a playoff run with Aaron Rodgers sidelined by an Achilles injury.
"I'm tired of people saying that we're looking into next season or all of the trades and stuff like that," Jefferson said. "We're focused still on this season. We have a lot more games to go and we have a lot more things to accomplish this season. We're still focused in, and we still have the same goal as we had before the season. We just need to fix a few things and I feel like we'll be back on track."
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf (ribs) did not take part in the team's first practice of the week on Thursday. Metcalf took a hard shot to his ribs in Week 2 in the overtime win over the Detroit Lions, but he was able to suit up in the Week 3 win over the Carolina Panthers. The 25-year-old saw fewer snaps last Sunday, but he remained productive with six catches for 112 yards. Metcalf will likely be rested for a few days before returning to practice on Saturday and playing on Monday night on the road in New York against the Giants. He's still one of the most physical pass-catchers in football and will continue to be a top target for quarterback Geno Smith in Seattle's passing game. As long as Metcalf is active, he's a must-start in fantasy lineups.

Green Bay Packers All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) had arthroscopic left-knee surgery on Wednesday and was placed on Injured Reserve on Thursday, according to sources. Another surgery is planned for Bakhtiari in the coming weeks, which will be aimed at allowing him to play at full strength next year. Bakhtiari will miss at least the next four games, but his return this season is now uncertain. The 31-year-old probably won't be back in 2023, which is a big loss on inexperienced quarterback Jordan Love's blind side. The Packers are missing a few other key offensive-line regulars on Thursday night against the Detroit Lions. Rasheed Walker will start at left tackle moving forward for Green Bay.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Rondale Moore could start seeing more work out of the backfield as the coaching staff tries to utilize his speed and shiftiness. Moore's big-play ability showed itself when he blazed his way to a 45-yard rushing touchdown in the Week 3 upset of the Dallas Cowboys. However, his usage as a runner will be something to monitor because of his size (5-foot-7, 180 pounds). Moore has lined up as an RB 13 times after lining up as a runner just nine times last year. "You look at stuff he's done in his past and look at what he can do with the ball in his hands and how dynamic he can be," offensive coordinator Drew Petzing said. "You say, how many different ways can we get him in that position?"

Carolina Panthers running back Miles Sanders (groin) put in yet another limited practice on Thursday. Sanders continues to put in limited practices early in the year, but he's not really in any danger of missing the team's Week 4 tilt against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend. The 26-year-old is Carolina's clear lead back through three weeks. He found the end zone for the first time (twice) in the Week 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but he produced only 24 rushing yards on nine carries and 38 receiving yards on five catches. Sanders should see an uptick in touches with rookie quarterback Bryce Young (ankle) returning this weekend, making him a volume-based RB2 for fantasy managers.

Atlanta Falcons running back/wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (thigh) was listed as a limited participant in practice on Thursday. Patterson was also limited on Wednesday with an injury that has been bothering him since the preseason in August. As long as rookie Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier are healthy for Atlanta, Patterson is mostly going to be an afterthought in this offense. The 32-year-old veteran has yet to even make his season debut while he tries to get back to 100 percent health this fall. Even if Patterson is active and makes his 2023 debut this Sunday in London against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he should remain on the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues.

New York Jets running back Breece Hall (knee) was listed as a full practice participant on Thursday for the first time this year. The Jets have been easing Hall back in ever since he tore his ACL in his rookie year in 2022, but he hasn't missed any games yet in 2023. The further the season goes, the healthier the 22-year-old should get, allowing the Jets to increase his workload in both practices and games. Dalvin Cook isn't just going to go away, though, and coupled with New York's sluggish offense under quarterback Zach Wilson, Hall's fantasy ceiling and floor have suffered. The good news is Hall should continue to see more playing time, but he faces another tough matchup this Sunday night against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs.

Carolina Panthers wide receivers DJ Chark Jr. (hamstring) and Jonathan Mingo (concussion) were both limited at practice on Thursday. Chark was rested on Wednesday before returning to a limited showing Thursday. The 27-year-old had a strong day in the Week 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, catching four of his 11 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown, but it also came with backup quarterback Andy Dalton at the helm. Most of his damage is going to come deep down the field, and he'll be more unpredictable with rookie QB Bryce Young (ankle) returning this week against the Minnesota Vikings. Mingo is even more of a dice roll as a flex option in deeper leagues, and he still needs to clear the concussion protocol before getting the green light to play in Week 4.

Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner (back) was able to practice in full on Thursday after he was listed as limited in Wednesday's session. Meanwhile, running back Keaontay Ingram injured his neck and was added to the injury report as a limited participant. Conner isn't dealing with a serious issue and should be just fine to play this weekend in an extremely tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on the road. The 28-year-old has looked good through three weeks, though, and should remain a volume-based RB2, at worst. Conner faces zero threat to his workload as the lead back in Arizona. In the first three games of 2023, he has 51 carries for 266 yards (5.2 yards per tote) and two touchdowns. He's also added seven receptions for 26 yards through the air.

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku is off to a slow start in 2023, having caught just 10 passes for 92 scoreless yards through three games. Njoku will look to break out against the Baltimore Ravens at home in Week 4. The Ravens will represent a tough challenge for Njoku, however, as they are allowing the second-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends through three weeks. Njoku can be an explosive playmaker at the tight-end position but this is a tough week to trust him. Treat him as a mid-range TE2 and don't hesitate to bench him if you have a better option on your bench.

Cleveland Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins is off to a nice start this year, having made seven of his eight field goals and all four of his extra points for his new team. That includes him hitting both of his field goals, including a 52-yarder, against the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. Hopkins will look to keep it going against the Baltimore Ravens at home in Week 4. Baltimore has been generous to opposing kickers in fantasy through three weeks as they are allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to the position so far. Hopkins sets up as a top-20 fantasy option for Week 4.

San Francisco 49ers wide receivers Deebo Samuel (ribs) and Jauan Jennings (shin) both missed practice for a second straight day on Thursday, and head coach Kyle Shanahan said that they will both be listed as questionable for the Week 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals. Samuel was also listed with a knee issue on Wednesday. The 49ers are hoping Samuel and Jennings can return to practice on Friday, which would give them a better shot at suiting up. Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder), who missed Week 3, has returned to practice this week and is trending in the right direction to play this Sunday. If Deebo is unable to play against Arizona, Aiyuk could see a heavy target share alongside tight end George Kittle and rookie Ronnie Bell, who scored the first touchdown of his career last Thursday against the Giants.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) is officially active on Thursday night and will make his season debut in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field. Watson was trending toward returning all along this week after he missed the first three games of the season. The 24-year-old second-year receiver has big-play ability and should be quarterback Jordan Love's top target when all is said and done this year, but he could have his snaps capped in his first action of the year on a short week. We wouldn't blame you for keeping Watson on your bench if you have other decent options for a flex play. Watson's return will also hurt the ceilings of fellow pass-catchers Romeo Doubs and rookies Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.
From RotoBaller
Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery (thigh), who was listed as questionable for the Thursday night game against the Green Bay Packers, is officially active for the Week 4 tilt. Montgomery suffered a bruised left thigh in the Week 2 game and was held out of last Sunday's convincing victory over the Atlanta Falcons. In the first two games of his Lions tenure, the 26-year-old split playing time with rookie Jahmyr Gibbs in the backfield and saw 37 carries for 141 yards and two touchdowns while adding just one catch for seven yards. Montgomery should have a role on Thursday night against Green Bay, but he could definitely take a back seat to Gibbs and have his snap count limited, making him a risky RB3/flex play in his return.
From RotoBaller
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marquise Brown (thumb) popped up on the Week 4 injury report on Thursday after injuring his thumb in practice and he was listed as a limited participant. Brown's status will be worth watching closely as Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers approaches. If he is limited at all or forced out, Rondale Moore would become Arizona's go-to target in the passing game. After a slow start in the season opener, Brown has caught 11 of his 17 targets in the last two games for 115 yards and two touchdowns in what has been a frisky Cardinals defense through three weeks. The 26-year-old could take a step back this weekend, though, against one of the best defenses in the NFL, especially if he's not at 100 percent.
From RotoBaller
Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones (hamstring), who was listed as questionable to play on Thursday night in Week 4, is officially active against the division-rival Detroit Lions. Jones tweaked his left hamstring in the season opener and missed Weeks 2 and 3, but he's now back for a big divisional showdown after backup AJ Dillon failed to do much of anything on the ground the last two weeks in his absence. Jones had a big game in the Week 1 victory against the Chicago Bears, but he'll enter his second game of the year at the risk of being eased back into the offense after missing the last two weeks. The 28-year-old had 11 touches for 127 yards and two TDs in Week 1 but will be more of a risky RB2 on Thursday Night Football.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Elijah Moore is coming off of a game where he caught all nine of his targets in a win over the Tennessee Titans. Moore has been heavily involved in the Cleveland offense thus far, drawing 25 targets through three games. The veteran wideout could be in store for a big game in a plus matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4. Baltimore has struggled to contain opposing wide receivers this year, allowing the eighth-most fantasy points per game to the position. Moore sets up as a quality flex option heading into Week 4.
From RotoBaller
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup had a solid Week 3 performance that he is unlikely to repeat in a Week 4 game against the New England Patriots. Gallup has struggled in man coverage, and the Patriots defense is one of the best at it. While he managed six catches for 92 yards last week, Gallup only sees a 3.1% target share against man coverage, making him a must-sit in a game where CeeDee Lamb is likely to carry most of the passing game.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin has been unable to make much of an impact early in the season. In fact, Godwin has yet to reach 60 receiving yards in a single game this season. Fellow wide receiver Mike Evans has been the one being rewarded, but fantasy managers shouldn't give up on Godwin. The veteran wideout has too much talent to continue this slump. However, he might not have too much success versus the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. A defense that has allowed the 10th fewest receiving yards to wideouts this season. Godwin hasn't proven to be much of a threat lately, so he'll fall into the WR3 conversation for Week 4.
From RotoBaller
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper is coming off his best game of the season as he caught seven passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in Week 3. More importantly, he has practiced fully this week so far after being a regular name on the injury list due to nagging injuries over the first three weeks of the season. He will now gear up to take on the Baltimore Ravens at home in Week 4. The Ravens have been a great matchup for receivers thus far, allowing the seventh-most fantasy points per game to wideouts through three games. Fantasy gamers can count on Cooper as a high-end WR2 heading into Week 4.
From RotoBaller
Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton hasn't been much of an option for this offense early in the season. He has two receptions or less in two of the first three games of the season. It appears the Bucs are going to favor Mike Evans and Chris Godwin for a majority of the work through the air. That being said, Otton is unlikely to see a ton of targets in any game. It doesn't help that he'll have a tough matchup against the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. This Saints defense has done a solid job against tight ends this season. That being said, fantasy managers are better off looking elsewhere for a possible streaming option this week.
