Injury Status: Week 6

This injury list isn’t near as populated as the previous week, which is great news for fantasy owners. We still have some injuries that are going to impact lineups, but there are some players returning, which is going to help. Hopefully, this trend of fewer injuries and more players returning continues going forward. We’ll see. . . . .

James Washington, WR, Steelers.  Washington injured his shoulder during last week’s game and is doing to miss some time because of the injury. He isn’t even worth a roster spot at this point. He has done little even when on the field.

DeSean Jackson, WR, Eagles. Jackson is getting closer to a return but did not practice Wednesday because of his abdomen injury. If he gets in some practice before the week is out, he has a shot to return, though. He has not been ruled out yet. Keep an eye on the practice notes for the latest. He is getting close.

Chris Herndon, TE, Jets. Herndon finally returned from his suspension and back to practice. Unfortunately, he injured his hamstring in practice. At this point, it seems like Herndon will not be healthy enough to make his season debut. He will need to get healthy in a hurry to play this week.

Sterling Shepard, WR, Giants. Shepard has already been ruled out for this week because of a  concussion he suffered last week. He will miss at least a game and maybe more because this is his second concussion this season. Not good.

Wayne Gallman, WR, Giants. Gallman is another Giant that suffered a concussion last week. He also has been ruled out for the Week 6 game. This gives Jon Hilliman the likely start at running back for the Giants.

Evan Engram, TE, Giants. Engram suffered a sprained knee last week and has been ruled out for Week 6. This leaves a huge hole in the passing game. Rhett Ellison should draw the start at tight end for the Giants.

Saquon Barkley, RB, Giants. Barkley is really close to a return but will miss one more week of action. He has been ruled out for Week 6. We would expect him back in the starting lineup next week, though. He has made great progress in recent weeks.

Sammy Watkins, WR, Chiefs. Watkins left the game very early last week because of a hamstring injury. He is yet to practice this week and it doesn’t look good for him to play right now. We would expect him to miss the Week 6 game, so get other options ready.

T.J. Hockenson, TE, Lions. Hockenson is back practicing on a limited basis. He is getting closer to a return from his scary concussion suffered a few weeks back. He has a shot to even play this week. We will know before the week is out if he is able to pass the concussion protocol.

Case Keenum, QB, Redskins. Keenum has a decent shot to return from his foot injury this week and will be the starter as long as he is healthy. He is trending the right way right now. Unless he has a setback later in the week, look for Keenum to start the Week 6 game for the Redskins.

Christian McCaffrey, RB, Panthers. McCaffrey suffered a back injury last week but was able to play through it although he was a little limited late in the game. He is out of practice to start the week, which isn’t a great sign but not the end of the world. He might be resting more than anything, but keep an eye on the practice reports the rest of the way to see what kind of work McCaffrey is able to get in. If McCaffrey is unable to play, Reggie Bonnafon gets the start for the Panthers.

David Johnson, RB, Cardinals. Johnson is another running back that is battling a back injury. He played with the back injury throughout last week’s game. He is practicing on the side to start the week, so nothing is sure with his status right now. We would expect him to play but nothing is 100 percent certain right now. Chase Edmonds is the starter for the Cardinals if Johnson is out of action.

Hunter Henry, TE, Chargers. Henry is getting closer to a return from his knee injury. He got in some work last week and is practicing on a limited basis to start this week. If Henry doesn’t return this week, we would expect him back in the starting lineup Week 7. Things are looking up for Henry.

Tyreek Hill, WR, Chiefs. Hill is practicing on a limited basis to start the week because of his collarbone injury. He was close to playing last week, so things look good for him to return this week, especially since Sammy Watkins is expected to miss. We would expect Hill to play and serve as the No. 1 target for the Chiefs in Week 6.

Todd Gurley, RB, Rams. Gurley was out of practice Wednesday because of a quad injury. The Rams are calling him day to day. The injury is not believed to be too serious, but you never know with Gurley. Injuries have been his nemesis in recent years. Gurley should be healthy enough to play, but keep an eye on the player notes to be sure he gets in some work before the week is out.

Player Notes
Kareem Hunt Nov 16 10:13pm ET

Cleveland Browns RB Kareem Hunt will 'absolutely' continue to play a big role in the passing game, according to Jake Trotter of ESPN.

Fantasy Spin: Hunt has 13 catches for 90 yards in two games for the Browns, and he has become a safety valve of sorts for quarterback Baker Mayfield. Throw in a handful of carries, and he is worth considering as a flex option in PPR formats.

Robby Anderson Nov 16 9:53pm ET

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson has 13 total receptions in five games since QB Sam Darnold returned from a bout with mono.

Fantasy Spin: He actually had a big performance in Darnold's first game back, but Anderson has just eight catches for 97 yards in the last four games combined. A Week 11 matchup with Washington looks good on paper, but he is a big-play dependent flex option, at best.

DeVante Parker Nov 16 9:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker's 'upside' may be limited in Week 11 because of the coverage skills of Buffalo Bills CB Tre'Davious White, according to Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Spin: Parker had five catches for 55 yards and a touchdown in the first meeting with the Buffalo, but with Preston Williams sidelined, White and the Bills can focus all their attention on Parker. He is a touchdown-dependent WR3.

From TheHuddle

Los Angeles Chargers OT Sam Tevi (knee) did not participate in practice Saturday, Nov. 16, and has been ruled out for Week 11. WR Geremy Davis (hamstring) and RB Justin Jackson (calf) did not practice and are listed as doubtful. OT Russell Okung (groin) did not practice and is listed as questionable. S Roderic Teamer (groin) and LS Cole Mazza (illness) fully participated in practice but are listed as questionable. LB Drue Tranquill (calf) was limited during practice but is not on the injury report. LB Denzel Perryman (knee), DT Justin Jones (shoulder), OG Dan Feeney (shoulder), LB Thomas Davis (non-injury) and OT Trey Pipkins (toe) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Sammy Watkins Nov 16 4:23pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (groin) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 16, and is not on the injury report for Week 11.

Fantasy Spin: Watkins has been targeted 27 times in three games since returning from injury and should have a solid role against the Los Angeles Chargers. He can be considered a No. 3 receiver or flex option in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Frank Clark Nov 16 4:23pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs TE Blake Bell (ankle), DE Emmanuel Ogbah (pectoral) and DE Alex Okafor (ankle) did not participate in practice Saturday, Nov. 16, and have been ruled out for Week 11. CB Kendall Fuller (thumb) was limited during practice and is listed as questionable. OT Mitchell Schwartz (knee) was limited during practice but is not on the injury report. Jones (groin) and DT Derrick Nnadi (elbow) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Damien Williams Nov 16 4:13pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams (non-injury) did not participate in practice Saturday, Nov. 16, and is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Fantasy Spin: Williams is not dealing with an injury, so he should have a good chance to play in Week 11. He can be considered a No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues if he plays.

From TheHuddle

Patrick Mahomes Nov 16 4:13pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 16, and is not on the injury report for Week 11.

Fantasy Spin: Mahomes has thrown 18 touchdowns and one interception in eight games this season and continues to be one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. He is a must-start option in all fantasy leagues.
