Ex NFL player Sampson arrested on pot charge in Oklahoma

2017-07-14 02:04:23

EL RENO, Okla. (AP) Former NFL player Kevin Michael Sampson has been released on bond after he was arrested with more than one pound of marijuana and a stolen shotgun in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoman reports (http://bit.ly/2tTHZYR ) that the 36-year-old Sampson was arrested Monday in El Reno, about 30 miles (46 kilometers) west of Oklahoma City. A police report says officers found 21 large clear plastic bags containing marijuana in the trunk of Sampson's car as well as a shotgun stolen in Missouri and digital scales.

Sampson played three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs as an offensive tackle from 2004 to 2006.

Officials say Sampson posted bond Tuesday on complaints of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and knowingly concealing stolen property. Online court records don't indicate whether he is represented by an attorney.

Player Notes
Jordan Matthews Nov 19 2:50pm ET

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Jordan Matthews (knee) is inactive for Week 11 against the Chargers. Coach Sean McDermott was "optimistic" Matthews would play through his questionable tag, but it is not the case. Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones will be the top two receivers, with Deonte Thompson and others mixing in behind them.

Charles Clay Nov 19 2:50pm ET

Buffalo Bills tight end Charles Clay (knee) will play Week 11 against the Chargers. Clay looked rusty in his return from knee surgery last week, delivering just two catches for 13 yards in a blowout loss to New Orleans. He may be little more than a last-gasp TE2 if he suits up.

Brock Osweiler Nov 19 12:50pm ET

There is growing frustration around Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and the offensive scheme amid the team's five-game losing streak, according to sources. The Broncos are ranked 24th in points per game, but an unresolved quarterback situation isn't making McCoy's job any easier. If Denver doesn't turn it around offensively down the stretch, their could be changes to the coaching staff next year. The belief is that the offense has been too complicated in 2017 under McCoy and at times has featured more plays than even when quarterback Peyton Manning was starting. Starting Sunday against Cincinnati, the playbook will be pared down and simplified. A lot of the blame shouldn't come down on McCoy, but that's the way things work in the NFL. Brock Osweiler surely isn't the long-term answer, and if he struggles against the Bengals, it's hard not to envision a scenario in which Paxton Lynch isn't given the reigns next week. Lynch is one to stash in dynasty leagues but wouldn't be more than a low-end QB2 with upside if he's making starts this year.

Drew Stanton Nov 19 12:40pm ET

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Drew Stanton (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. However, Blaine Gabbert has been listed as the starter and should be a low-end QB2 for the week. Stanton should not be rostered in any format as he is no longer the starter for the team, even though he may still see playing time if Gabbert can't perform.

Jameis Winston Nov 19 12:40pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby, who was on Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston's Uber ride last March, vows that his college teammate did nothing inappropriate to the Uber driver, according to a source. It can't hurt Winston's defense, but the NFL is investigating this matter separately, and it could be a while before a decision is made. Winston's 2017 value has plummeted following a right shoulder injury that has kept him out since Nov. 5. Backup Ryan Fitzpatrick will continue to start for the foreseeable future, and there's no guarantee Winston will play again this year. He's not a must-hold in shallow formats.

Dion Sims Nov 19 12:30pm ET

Chicago Bears tight end Dion Sims (illness) is inactive for the second straight week against the Lions. Sims hasn't practiced the last two weeks and is clearly dealing with a pretty serious illness, although not many details have emerged on his condition. With Zach Miller (leg) out for the rest of the year, it looks like rookie Adam Shaheen will continue to roll with top tight end duties in Chicago. He has upside, but not much to close out the year in Chicago's run-first offense with rookie Mitch Trubisky at the helm. Shaheen is more of a risky TE2.

Andre Ellington Nov 19 12:30pm ET

Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington is a healthy scratch for Week 11. Ellington has not done much since the Cardinals traded for Adrian Peterson, making this unsurprising. There is no reason to consider him for fantasy purposes.

Terrance West Nov 19 12:20pm ET

Baltimore Ravens running back Terrance West (calf) is inactive for Week 11 against the Packers. West is finally returning to full health, but he picked a bad time to do so with fellow running back Danny Woodhead (hamstring) active this weekend for the first time since the season opener. It confirms that West is last on the running back depth chart after opening the season as the lead back. He needs to be left on the waiver wire.

Alex Smith Nov 19 12:10pm ET

New York Giants cornerback Eli Apple (personal) is inactive Week 11 against the Chiefs. Apple missed a couple practices this week to be with his mother, who underwent brain surgery. Understandably, he was not ready to play today. Ross Cockrell will start with Apple sidelined, improving the stock of Alex Smith.

John Brown Nov 19 12:10pm ET

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown (questionable, back) is active for Week 11 against the Texans. Brown has a great matchup against the Texans, but given the quarterback situation and how he has played this year, Brown should not be started this week.

Kenny Stills Nov 19 12:03pm ET

Miami Dolphins WR Kenny Stills (back) is officially active for the team's Week 11 game.

Andre Ellington Nov 19 12:03pm ET

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington was declared a healthy scratch for Week 11's game against the Houston Texans.

Dion Sims Nov 19 12:03pm ET

Chicago Bears TE Dion Sims (illness) has been declared inactive for the team's Week 11 game.

Keelan Cole Nov 19 12:02pm ET

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Keelan Cole is listed as the starter over Dede Westbrook in Allen Hurns' (ankle) absence. Westbrook is the more hyped prospect, but it is not a surprise since Cole has been the one playing and contributing in recent weeks. Neither receiver is a recommended fantasy option for Week 11.

Corey Coleman Nov 19 12:00pm ET

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Corey Coleman (hand) will be active on Sunday. Coleman has been out since Week 2 after breaking his hand during the game against the Baltimore Ravens. He got off to a hot start this season, posting five catches for 53 yards and a score against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. While Coleman is back on Sunday, he draws a brutal matchup against an elite Jacksonville Jaguars secondary. Due to matchup concerns and possible rust, Coleman should be treated as a WR4 in his first game back in action.

Kenny Stills Nov 19 12:00pm ET

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills (back) will play on Sunday. Stills had a scare late in the week with a back ailment that forced him to leave Thursday's practice and miss Friday. Suiting up on Sunday, Stills has an attractive matchup versus a Tampa Bay secondary allowing the most receptions per game to opposing wide receviers, but remains a boom or bust WR4 option as he's yet to have more than five receptions or 67 yards in a game in which DeVante Parker has played.

Will Fuller Nov 19 12:00pm ET

Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller (rib) is officially out on Sunday. This was reported throughout the week, but was made official today. Bruce Ellington should play a big role in the passing game this week with Fuller's absence and DeAndre Hopkins matching up against corner Patrick Peterson.

Ty Montgomery Nov 19 11:53am ET

The Green Bay Packers have declared DT Montravius Adams, FS Morgan Burnett, RB Aaron Jones, CB Kevin King, RB Ty Montgomery, LB Chris Odom, OL Adam Pankey inactive for Week 11.

Derek Carrier Nov 19 11:53am ET

The Los Angeles Rams have declared QB Brandon Allen, OT Cornelius Lucas, TE Derek Carrier, LB Ejuan Price, RB Justin Davis, RB Malcolm Brown, CB Troy Hill inactive for Week 11.

Jordan Reed Nov 19 11:53am ET

The Washington Redskins have declared CB Quinton Dunbar, OG Arie Kouandjio, C Spencer Long, WR Terrelle Pryor, WR Brian Quick, TE Jordan Reed, DT Caraun Reid inactive for Week 11.
