Steelers' Jalen Ramsey says Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase spit on him before ejection

Field Level Media

Pittsburgh defensive back Jalen Ramsey said Cincinnati's Ja'Marr Chase spit on him, leading the Steelers player to take a swing at the Bengals star wide receiver during their game Sunday.

Ramsey was ejected for throwing the punch, which came with about 13 minutes remaining in the host Steelers' 34-12 victory.

"He spit on me," Ramsey, 31, said after the game, noting he was OK with trash talk between the two, but Chase crossed the line.

"I actually enjoy that part (talking) of the game. I think that people know that," Ramsey said. "I'm sure the NFL, they'll do their due diligence. They've got 100 cameras out there. They can investigate. They can see everything. ... They should be able to pull it up and see that he spit and it's whatever after that, to be honest. I was still a little too nice, if I'm keeping it honest with you."

Chase, 25, denied Ramsey's version of the incident.

"I ain't ever opened my mouth to that guy," Chase said after the game. "I didn't spit on nobody."

As for what led to Ramsey trying to punch him, Chase said, "Well, he don't like some of the words I told him. We've been going back and forth the whole time. So I'm sure something got under his skin."

The veteran players had been going at each other verbally over the course of the game and both were penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct one play earlier when Ramsey said Chase attempted to crackback block him.

Ramsey called the first incident "just a little scuffle" when Chase grabbed his mouthpiece off his face mask and he pushed Chase's face mask. The pair were warned by officials that a similar penalty would lead to ejection.

"We had just talked to the refs," Ramsey said afterward. "I ain't going to do something again to get myself kicked out of the game. The refs had just told us a play before. If you just use your common sense, you'll know, hey he wasn't just doing it again for no reason. You know what I mean?"

But then, during a timeout before the next play, the situation escalated with the alleged spitting incident. Ramsey swung at Chase's helmet and grabbed his face mask. They were separated by players from both teams and assessed offsetting unsportsmanlike penalties, with Ramsey automatically disqualified for the punch.

Referee Bill Vinovich told a pool reporter that officials did not see Chase spit at Ramsey.

"Obviously, we did not," Vinovich said. "We did not see anything that rose to that level at all."

Ramsey, primarily a cornerback in his 10-year career, is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time first-team All-Pro. Chase is a four-time Pro Bowl pick in his fifth season. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2024.

Value Picks: Week 11

Player Notes
Travis Kelce Nov 17 2:13am CT
Travis Kelce

Dynasty | Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown in a loss to the Broncos. Dynasty Analysis: Kelce now has a 50/631/4 line through ten games after posting a 97/823/3 season playing in 16 games a year ago. While nowhere near his once dominant self, Kelce has put together a pretty good TE1 season so far. His dynasty value can't rise as any season could be his last but he could be a decent pickup for a contending dynasty team in need of one more piece moving forward.

Quinshon Judkins Nov 17 2:13am CT
Quinshon Judkins

Dynasty | Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins had 59 rushing yards in a loss to the Ravens. Dynasty Analysis: Judkins has now gone five straight games without posting 100 rushing yards and three straight without scoring a touchdown. It's hardly his fault as the Browns offense just can't function without a real quarterback at the helm. He remains a solid hold in dynasty leagues and may be hitting "buy low" territory.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Shedeur Sanders Nov 17 2:13am CT
Shedeur Sanders

Dynasty | Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders completed 4-of-16 passes for 47 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in a loss to the Ravens. Dynasty Analysis: Sanders was thrown into action when Dillon Gabriel was hurt and quickly showed why he hasn't been playing so far this season. It's really simple - Sanders is a player who brings a lot of baggage with him and has thus far looked like one who isn't anywhere close to playing at the NFL level. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks but Sanders is still overvalued in dynasty leagues.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Mac Jones Nov 17 2:13am CT
Mac Jones

Dynasty | 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy completed 19-of-26 passes for 200 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in a win against the Cardinals. Dynasty Analysis: Arizona's defense isn't exactly looking like the second coming of the 1985 Bears but this was huge for Purdy, who some thought could be in trouble of losing some time to a very impressive Mac Jones. Purdy was solid in this one and looked like the player worthy of the big contract he signed. His ADP slide should stop after this one.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Jacoby Brissett Nov 17 2:13am CT
Jacoby Brissett

Dynasty | Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed an NFL record 47-of-57 passes for 452 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in a loss to the 49ers. Dynasty Analysis: It's now officially #sillyseason. Brissett and the Cardinals fell behind early and they just decided to sling the ball all over creation in an attempt to make the game close. Brissett didn't do anything today to make the Cardinals re-think what they believe about Kyler Murray as he's consistently moved the offense ever since taking over. His dynasty value is debatable but he's been a solid dynasty contributor thus far.

Jacoby Brissett Nov 17 2:13am CT
Jacoby Brissett

Dynasty | Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson had 15 catches on 18 targets for 185 yards with no touchdowns in a loss to the 49ers. Dynasty Analysis: Well, we thought Wilson had a chance to be a decent contributor today. However, we didn't think Jacoby Brissett woud throw the ball 57 times and target him on 18 of those. This was a crazy performance from Wilson, who basically looked like what we thought Marvin Harrison Jr could at some point. While this will undoubtedly be his best day of the year, he'll need to be in lineups next week should Harrison be out again.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Sam Darnold Nov 17 2:13am CT
Sam Darnold

Dynasty | Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold completed 29-of-44 passes for 279 yards with no touchdowns and four interceptions in a loss to the Rams. Dynasty Analysis: As good as Darnold has been, the narrative about him flopping in the biggest of games will continue until he does something to change it. The fact the Seahawks had a kick to win the game despite how he played is borderline amazing. While this won't likely change much in the long run (and Darnold should bounce back against Tennessee), it remains a problem in fantasy and reality.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Omarion Hampton Nov 17 2:13am CT
Omarion Hampton

Dynasty | Chargers running back Kimani Vidal had 13 rushing yards, two catches and -1 receiving yard in a blowout loss to the Jaguars. Dynasty Analysis: The Jaguars just annihilated the Chargers in a 35-6 beatdown and the game script for Vidal was flipped on its head. With Omarion Hampton possibly returning soon, Vidal needs to perform better the next few weeks to ensure he has a solid role upon Hampton's return. This is likely just a blip on the radar but disappointing, regardless.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Aaron Rodgers Nov 17 2:13am CT
Aaron Rodgers

Dynasty | Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 9-of-15 passes for 116 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions before leaving with a wrist injury in a win over Cincinnati. Dynasty Analysis: The performance itself is irrelevant as it seems Rodgers may have a fracture in his left wrist. While it's his non-throwing hand, it's still a significant concern. Rodgers has performed more like a QB2 than a QB1 as of late but has still elevated the play of most of the roster this season. We'll await to see the extent of this but it may not be great.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Jaxson Dart Nov 17 2:13am CT
Jaxson Dart

Dynasty | Giants quarterback Jameis Winston completed 19-of-29 passes for 201 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in a loss to the Packers. Dynasty Analysis: Winston did what we expected - he kept his team in the game until a late interception ended it. This has been par for the course for famous Jameis, who has as much talent as anyone in the league but has never been able to avoid critical mistakes. He'll be a QB2 moving forward should Jaxson Dart miss more time but his days as a real NFL starter are all but over.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Josh Jacobs Nov 17 2:13am CT
Josh Jacobs

Dynasty | Packers running back Josh Jacobs had 40 rushing yards in a win against the Giants before leaving with a knee injury. Dynasty Analysis: Jacobs was forced from the game but initial reports indicate the Packers don't believe it's a significant injury. We'll see just what the tests show as Jacobs has been one of the most consistent fantasy performers in dynasty leagues. Any missed time would certainly affect his ranking and ADP but we'll simply wait and see.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Calvin Ridley Nov 17 2:13am CT
Calvin Ridley

Dynasty | Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley will miss the rest of the season with a broken fibula. Dynasty Analysis: Ridley caught one pass for 13 yards before the injury. It puts a bow on a disaster of a season for Ridley, who will end the year with just 17 catches for 330 scoreless yards. Now 30, it's fair to wonder if he even has one more relevant season left in him, especially playing for hapless Titans. Tennessee has an out in his contract at the end of this year and dynasty managers are likely hoping they use it. His ADP and ranking have suffered all year and this will make them both crater.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Josh Allen Nov 17 2:13am CT
Josh Allen

Dynasty | Bills quarterback Josh Allen completed 19-of-30 passes for 317 yards, rushed for another 40 and accounted for six touchdowns in a win over Tampa Bay. Dynasty Analysis: A week after inexplicably being blown out against Miami, Allen posted just the third game in NFL history where a player threw for three touchdowns and ran for three in the same game. Allen proved yet again that he's a "set it and forget it" option in dynasty leagues and can be the overall QB1 in any week or season. His ADP and ranking really can't go up.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Bucky Irving Nov 17 2:13am CT
Bucky Irving

Dynasty | Bucs running back Sean Tucker had 106 rushing yards, two catches, 34 receiving yards and three touchdowns in a loss to the Bills. Dynasty Analysis: Sure, why not? Tucker had just two scores on the season and a high of just 53 rushing yards coming into this one but simply exploded. With Bucky Irving still on the mend, this backfield just got really interesting as Tucker played ahead of Rachaad White for most of the game. It's an interesting development in dynasty leagues as it flips this backfield on its head. Tucker should obviously be owned everywhere but we need to see more before believing this is anything other than an outlier of a performance.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Bryce Young Nov 17 2:13am CT
Bryce Young

Dynasty | Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan had eight catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Falcons. Dynasty Analysis: We've said for weeks we believe McMillan is a very solid receiver but may not truly have the chops to be a consistent WR1 in dynasty leagues. Well, this was the performance needed to start to change that narrative. McMillan was fantastic in this one as he routinely made plays to break the hearts of any Atlanta fans. McMillan will be locked and loaded as an option moving forward as he and Bryce Young are cooking with gas.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Bryce Young Nov 17 2:13am CT
Bryce Young

Dynasty | Panthers quarterback Bryce Young completed 31-of-45 passes for 448 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in a win against Atlanta. Dynasty Analysis: Young had posted just one other game with more than 200 passing yards on the season, so this one came out of nowhere. While he hasn't quite progressed as much as many hoped this year, he's still posted a solid year where for a Panthers team that's won five-of-six games. Young somehow has Carolina in the playoff chase and has again shown why it's too early to give up on him. He's still a QB2 in dynasty leagues but progress still seems to be happening.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Jaxon Smith-Njigba Nov 17 12:10am CT
Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba continued his historic season in a 21-19 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, catching nine of his 12 targets for 105 yards. Smith-Njigba failed to surpass the 100-yard mark last week against the Cardinals as he didn't play much in the second half, but he has cleared it in four of his past five games and seven of 10 games overall this season. The 23-year-old managed to post a dominant line despite quarterback Sam Darnold having his roughest game as a Seahawk with four interceptions. Smith-Njigba's floor for production is incredibly high, and the ceiling is also massive when Seattle plays in more high-scoring games, which we haven't seen many of this season. The superstar wideout has ascended to a new level this season and will rank as one of the best wide receivers in fantasy for Week 12 against the Titans.

From RotoBaller

Kyren Williams Nov 17 12:00am CT
Kyren Williams

Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams scored his fourth rushing touchdown in the past three games in their 21-19 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11. Williams was efficient with 91 rushing yards on 12 carries to go with one reception (two targets) for five yards. The 25-year-old has had a standout season as a big piece of the Rams' high-powered offense and again ranks as one of the best backs in fantasy. Williams isn't known for his explosive rush ability, but he ripped off a few in this game, including his longest run of the season with a 34-yard gash in the first quarter. It was a tough matchup on paper against a Seattle defense that entered the day ranked third in yards per carry allowed (3.7), and the Rams didn't have their best offensive performance, but Williams still came through for fantasy managers.

From RotoBaller

Xavier Legette Nov 16 11:50pm CT
Xavier Legette

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette caught four of his eight targets for 83 yards and a touchdown in a 30-27 overtime win against the Atlanta Falcons. Legette bounced back with one of his best performances of the season after going catchless last week against the Saints. The 2024 first-round pick hasn't been very involved in recent weeks, with Carolina leaning more run-heavy and not having much pass volume, but finished second on the team in receiving in Week 11, with Bryce Young throwing for a career high 448 yards on 45 attempts. The 24-year-old wideout will look to build on this performance and find week-to-week consistency to become fantasy relevant.

From RotoBaller

Jahmyr Gibbs Nov 16 11:40pm CT
Jahmyr Gibbs

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs struggled to find running room in Sunday night's 16-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, handling 12 carries for 39 yards, but he was dynamic as a receiver with a team-high five catches (eight targets) for 107 yards. Gibbs has now topped 140 yards or more from scrimmage in three of the past four games and was one of the few bright spots in a tough offensive showing from the Lions. The 23-year-old posted his highest receiving total of the season and his most receptions in a game since Week 3. That could be a featured part of Detroit's offense moving forward, with Sam LaPorta (back) placed on injured reserve earlier this week. Gibbs will again rank as one of the elite RBs in fantasy in Week 12 against the New York Giants.
