Garcia was scheduled to do fielding drills ahead of Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs. If everything continues to go well, Garcia could be back in action as early as Wednesday. He was previously pulled off his rehab assignment due to renewed soreness in his left hand. Nick Loftin has been serving as the primary third baseman while Garcia has been sidelined. He'll return to a reserve role once Garcia is back, which is hopefully in the coming weeks.

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Griffin Jax (elbow) was placed on the 15-day Injured List on Sunday, according to Ryan Bass. Jax was scratched from his scheduled start against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday. A day later, Jax heads to the shelf due to right elbow discomfort. Miami Marlins first baseman/outfielder Kyle Stowers (hamstring) was forced to make an early exit from Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The San Diego Padres have signed outfielder Austin Hays to a one-year deal on Sunday, according to Ken Rosenthal. Hays was designated for assignment by the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. He went unclaimed and ended up hitting free agency, where the Padres wasted little time scooping him up. Hays only played 12 games for the White Sox this season, but he should be an upgrade in the outfield for the Padres. Washington Nationals prospect Seaver King has been back healthy and playing at Triple-A Rochester since July 30, trying to make a case for a late-season promotion to Washington. King missed almost all of July with a left oblique strain and has a homer and four RBI since his return to Rochester. King has a 70-grade run tool and a 50-grade hit tool as he could mix hitting and speed on the base paths. He has nine stolen bases this year in his injury-plagued season. He is the No. 4 prospect for the Nationals and might be more likely to make his MLB debut in 2027 after struggling with injuries this year. Cleveland Guardians prospect Cooper Ingle is having a productive August so far at Triple-A Columbus after receiving a big-league opportunity earlier this season. In seven August games, Ingle has two homers and nine RBI with eight runs scored. The catcher/outfielder is heating up again at Triple-A and could force his way back to the majors before the end of this season. Ingle had 21 at bats in Cleveland and had two RBI while hitting just .095 after recording just two big-league hits. However, Cleveland's No. 3 prospect with a 55-grade hit tool has 18 homers and 61 RBI at Triple-A this season with a .313 batting average, making a case for another ticket back to Cleveland. Cleveland Guardians prospect Ralphy Velazquez is hitting with power to begin August with four homers and seven RBI in six games this month. Detroit Tigers prospect Max Anderson has started off August nicely with one homer and two RBI in seven games this month while hitting .435 at Triple-A Toledo. The infielder has had a solid season between two levels of the minors this year, hitting .314 with 14 homers and 45 RBI in 299 at bats with 51 runs scored. He was out at the beginning of the year due to injury and made a few rehab starts with Lakeland. Anderson is the No. 9 prospect in the Tigers system after playing his college ball at Nebraska. Seattle Mariners first baseman Josh Naylor broke out of a little 0-for-9 mini-slump in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at T-Mobile Park by going 3-for-4 at the plate with two solo home runs to boost his season batting average to .262 and his OPS to .699. He's making up for it with his speed, which is rare for a first baseman, as he currently sits with 23 steals (eight away from a new career high). He's now slashing .262/.326/.372 with a .699 OPS and is more of a threat for his wheels than his power.
