Cleveland Cavaliers guard Meleek Thomas made his Summer League debut against the Indiana Pacers on Friday. He put together a solid outing, showing off his scoring ability. Thomas finished with 20 points (7-of-15 FGs), five rebounds, and three assists in the loss to the Pacers. The Cavs selected Thomas in the second round of this year's draft out of Arkansas. He recently signed a four-year deal worth nearly $10 million. This team has lost a few key bench contributors to free agency, so Thomas might have a chance to help this team right away.
The Portland Trail Blazers have claimed forward/center Micah Potter off waivers from the Indiana Pacers on Friday. The Pacers recently cut Potter to make room for the newly signed Larry Nance Jr. on the roster. Potter has moved around in the league since joining the Detroit Pistons in 2021. He averaged 9.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists across 19.3 minutes per game in 47 contests with the Pacers this past season. He figures to mix in somewhere on the bench in Portland, but is unlikely to see consistent enough playing time to warrant adding in fantasy basketball.
San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama has signed a massive extension with the organization on Friday. According to Shams Charania, Wembanyama has agreed to a five-year, $252 million contract with the Spurs. Wembanyama could've received an extension worth 30 percent of the Spurs' salary cap. Instead, he takes a deal that saves the Spurs $50 million over the next five years. Wembanyama wanted to make sure the Spurs still have the cap space available to build a team for the future. The 7-foot-4 superstar helped lead the Spurs to the NBA Finals this past season. He's going to be in the MVP conversation for many years to come.
Charlotte Hornets forward/center Hannes Steinbach registered 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal across 22 minutes in Thursday's 86-74 Summer League win over the Orlando Magic. The No. 14 overall pick led Charlotte's bench and shot 4-for-7 from the field while going 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. Steinbach averaged 18.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 1.1 steals at Washington last season, so the rebounding and defensive stats are the key fantasy signals. He still needs a steady regular-season role, but his activity gives him a useful category profile.
Utah Jazz guard Darryn Peterson finished with 24 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one block across 30 minutes in Thursday's 92-88 Summer League loss to the Washington Wizards. The No. 2 overall pick led Utah in scoring in a marquee matchup against No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa, but the efficiency was shaky. Peterson shot 6-for-18 from the field and 2-for-7 from three-point range while also dealing with pressure from Washington's defense. The usage is already fantasy-friendly, but Peterson will need cleaner shooting and fewer empty possessions to match his early-season upside.
Los Angeles Clippers guard Keaton Wagler finished with seven points, two rebounds, one assist, and one three-pointer in Thursday's 91-85 Summer League loss to the Sacramento Kings. The No. 5 overall pick had a rough first outing, shooting just 1-for-7 from the field while Sacramento's pressure kept him from finding much rhythm. Wagler's fantasy appeal is still tied to his shooting and playmaking after a strong freshman season at Illinois, but this was a reminder that efficiency and physicality could be early hurdles. He will look to respond Sunday against Utah.
Washington Wizards guard/forward AJ Dybantsa supplied 27 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block across 26 minutes in Thursday's 92-88 Summer League win over the Utah Jazz. The No. 1 overall pick led all scorers in a matchup with No. 2 pick Darryn Peterson, and 19 of his points came in the first half. Dybantsa struggled from three-point range, going 0-for-5, but he attacked the paint and went 7-for-8 at the free-throw line. The scoring, rebounds, and defensive stats give him an immediate fantasy-friendly profile if Washington lets him handle a major role early.
Golden State Warriors forward Yaxel Lendeborg totaled 21 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists across 28 minutes in Thursday's 101-90 Summer League win over the Dallas Mavericks. The No. 11 pick shot 8-for-13 from the field and 2-for-4 from three-point range, helping Golden State control the game after a 35-19 second quarter. Lendeborg has carried his strong California Classic play into Las Vegas, and the fantasy appeal is clear. His mix of rebounding, passing, and shooting gives him category upside, but regular-season value will depend on how quickly the Warriors trust him with rotation minutes.
Los Angeles Clippers forward Baba Miller signed a four-year, $9.61 million deal that includes two guaranteed seasons, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Scotto noted it is the highest total value for any second-round pick in the 2026 NBA Draft so far. The 36th pick averaged 13.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 31.9 minutes at Cincinnati, giving him a fantasy-friendly mix for a 6-foot-11 forward. His jumper remains the swing skill after he shot 19.2 percent from deep, so his early fantasy value depends on whether his rebounding, passing, and defense can earn him rotation minutes behind established forwards like Brandon Ingram and Rui Hachimura.
Boston Celtics forward Dalano Banton was waived by the organization on Thursday, according to Adam Himmelsbach. Banton signed a two-year deal with the team towards the end of the regular season. It was a non-guaranteed deal, so the team has decided to move on and look elsewhere for depth. Banton has bounced around in the league, but averaged 16.7 points during his time with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2023. He has been playing minutes in the teens since then, but will look to land elsewhere as a depth option.
The Milwaukee Bucks have signed forward Pete Nance to a two-year, veteran minimum contract, according to Jake Fischer. The Bucks waived Nance last week, but have decided to bring him back on a two-year, non-guaranteed deal. This past season, Nance averaged 5.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assists across 15.7 minutes per game in 47 contests. This was the most that Nance has played since entering the league with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2023. It's unclear if the 26-year-old will even have a consistent role in the rotation, but they've decided to bring him back as depth.
The Golden State Warriors have signed forward/center Charles Bassey to a one-year deal on Thursday. The Warriors decided not to match the offer sheet on Quinten Post, so he'll head to the Memphis Grizzlies. It didn't take them long to find another big man as they signed Bassey on what is assumed to be a veteran minimum deal. Bassey played with four organizations this past season, including the Warriors. He has bounced around in the league, but only played minutes in the teens when he was getting consistent playing time. He'll likely be a reserve option for the Warriors, but there's no guarantee that Bassey will be a significant part of the rotation.
The Los Angeles Clippers recently agreed to trade forward Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors. In exchange, the Clippers get back Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, and draft compensation. This deal was done at the end of June, but has been put on hold while the league continues its investigation into the Clippers' Aspiration scandal. There is a possible outcome where Leonard faces a suspension for his involvement in this scandal. The expectation is that Leonard will be allowed to play, and this deal will be completed ahead of training camp. There should be more details on this situation in the coming weeks.
The New York Knicks have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with guard Jordan Clarkson on Thursday. According to Shams Charania, Clarkson is headed back to New York on a one-year, $3.9 million deal for the 2026-2027 season. Clarkson was a valuable depth piece on this roster during their championship run. He averaged 8.6 points, 1.3 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game across 72 contests last season. The 34-year-old figures to have a similar role on this roster again next season. Clarkson probably won't have nightly fantasy value as a rotational piece, but this is a solid move for the Knicks roster.
Toronto Raptors forward Collin Murray-Boyles is expected to take on more on-ball work in the Las Vegas Summer League, according to Michael Grange of Sportsnet. Raptors assistant Ivo Simovic, who will coach Toronto's Summer League team, said the club needs Murray-Boyles to become less one-dimensional as it pushes him toward a bigger role. The No. 9 pick averaged 8.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists as a rookie before jumping to 14.4 points, 6.4 boards, 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 blocks in the playoffs. The defensive stats already carry fantasy appeal, but added ball-handling and shooting growth would raise his ceiling.
Former Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier wants to play in the NBA again while fighting sports gambling charges, according to the Associated Press. His path back remains complicated, as bail conditions currently limit his travel and bar contact with certain potential witnesses. Rozier remains a free agent after Miami released him in April, and he missed the 2025-26 season after being placed on leave. Even before his legal hurdles, the 32-year-old struggled to produce, averaging just 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 39.1 percent from the field across 64 games in 2024-25. His fantasy profile remains entirely on hold until he signs with a team and his court restrictions are eased enough for him to take the floor.
Free-agent center Jonas Valanciunas is among the centers on the New York Knicks' radar, according to SNY's Ian Begley. The Knicks had interest in Valanciunas during the 2024 offseason, and Begley noted that New York would have solid center depth if he chooses them in free agency. The veteran big man averaged 8.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 65 games last season while playing a limited role in Denver. New York already added Andre Drummond behind Karl-Anthony Towns, so Valanciunas would likely need a clear backup role to regain fantasy relevance. His best path remains rebounds, efficient scoring, and short-minute double-double production.
Denver Nuggets forward Peyton Watson is receiving interest from the Los Angeles Clippers, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. The Nuggets can match any offer sheet for the restricted free agent and reportedly want to keep him, though a sign-and-trade remains possible. Watson broke out last season with 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, and his defensive profile gives him a cleaner fantasy path than most low-usage wings. A Clippers move could help if it brings starter-level minutes, but the roster still has Brandon Ingram, Bennedict Mathurin, Rui Hachimura, and Jordan Miller in the wing mix.
Los Angeles Clippers guard/forward Bennedict Mathurin remains a player the team wants to keep in restricted free agency, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. The Clippers tendered Mathurin a qualifying offer, giving them matching rights, and he averaged 17.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists across 54 games last season. The scoring and free-throw volume keep him fantasy-relevant when the minutes are steady, but his 31.5 percent shooting from deep limits the ceiling. A return to Los Angeles would keep him in the mix for a real role, though his value still depends on starter-level minutes and improved efficiency.
Indiana Pacers center Micah Potter will be waived to complete the team's signing of Larry Nance Jr., according to Alex Golden of Setting The Pace. Potter's $2.8 million contract was non-guaranteed, and the move creates a small cap savings for Indiana after adding Nance on a veteran-minimum deal. The 28-year-old had a useful run last season, averaging 9.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists across 47 games while shooting 42.3 percent from three-point range. Potter's stretch-big skill set could draw interest elsewhere, but he falls off the fantasy radar until he lands another NBA role.
