Aldon Smith Apr 21 3:00pm ET

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Aldon Smith turned himself in on Tuesday night after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with an alleged battery in the New Orleans area, according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office. He was booked and released Wednesday on $25,000 bond. Smith will be arraigned on July 14. He allegedly choked a victim unconscious during a confrontation that began inside a coffee shop. The Seahawks had signed Smith to a one-year deal worth $1,127,500 just two days before the incident. Smith returned to the NFL last year and was successful with the Dallas Cowboys after missing more than four seasons because of an indefinite suspension by the NFL for multiple off-field incidents and violations of the league's substance-abuse policy. Smith is once again in trouble off the field, which could lead to another suspension from the league.

Aqib Talib Apr 21 2:50pm ET

Free-agent safety T.J. Ward announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday after eight years in the league. Ward earned two Pro Bowls in his time in the league and came to be known as one of the hardest-hitting safeties. He last played in 2017 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and landed a spot on the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals last year for three weeks in October. Ward's best days came with the Denver Broncos, where he helped the team win Super Bowl 50 as a physical hybrid safety and linebacker. Ward and cornerback Aqib Talib, along with slot corner Chris Harris Jr., formed the No Fly Zone secondary during Denver's championship run. The 34-year-old finishes with 607 tackles (458 solo), 19 QB hits, eight interceptions (one for a touchdown), 44 passes defensed, 10 forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries (one for a TD) and 8.5 sacks in 107 career games (99 starts).

Tua Tagovailoa Apr 21 2:40pm ET

The Miami Dolphins proved that they are committed to second-year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa when they traded out of the No. 3 overall spot in this year's draft. Shortly thereafter, Miami swung a deal to move back into the top 10 while also securing future first-round picks. General manager Chris Grier explained on Wednesday that the team is looking to build around Tagovailoa with the best players available while also trying to find talent that meshes well with Tagovailoa's strengths. Tagovailoa disappointed in his rookie season while coming off hip surgery in a season during a pandemic, so the Dolphins are expecting him to improve in Year 2. He'll have a full offseason to prepare for the 2021 season as well. Tagovailoa is still a great dynasty asset, but he'll have to prove to fantasy managers in single-year formats that he's more than just a low-end QB2.

Justin Fields Apr 21 2:30pm ET

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields confirmed to NFL teams during the pre-draft process that he is managing epilepsy, a neurological disorder that can cause seizures. However, it has not affected his football career, and doctors think Fields will outgrow it like his other family members have. It's something to watch, but it's unlikely to keep Fields from being a top-five pick in the first round next Thursday. The young signal-caller is extremely talented and athletic and is a perfect fit as a modern-day quarterback in today's NFL. Fields can beat teams with both his arms and his legs, and he'll have a pretty high ceiling in the long term if he lands in the right offensive system. The San Francisco 49ers will be in play at No. 3 overall for the Ohio State product.

Pierre Desir Apr 21 2:00pm ET

Free-agent cornerback Pierre Desir agreed to terms on an undisclosed one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday. Desir was on Seattle's practice squad back in 2016 but failed to make the team out of training camp the following season. In 73 career games with the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens, he has 259 tackles, eight interceptions (one for a touchdown), three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The 30-year-old former fourth-round pick of the Browns in 2014 played in 12 games (eight starts) with the Jets and Ravens last year, recording 49 tackles (39 solo), three interceptions (one for a TD), eight passes defensed and a forced fumble.

Antonio Brown Apr 21 1:40pm ET

Free agent wide receiver Antonio Brown has been in conversation with his former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers throughout the offseason, according to Greg Auman of The Athletic. Brown reached a settlement on Wednesday in the sexual assault case he'd been embroiled in over the past two years. Tampa seems ready to bring Brown back now that the legal issues are resolved, so it wouldn't be a shock to see a deal done in the coming days, even though the team has reportedly not been close yet to reaching a deal with him. Brown played in eight games last season, catching 45 passes for 483 yards and four touchdowns. He'd have value in fantasy leagues as a WR4/5 with upside if he stays in Tampa. That value could be higher if he heads elsewhere to a team with a more apparent need at receiver.

Jalen Hurts Apr 21 1:10pm ET

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni isn't ready to name a starting quarterback for the Eagles, saying that second-year passer Jalen Hurts will have to compete this summer for the job. Hurts should easily win that job, considering his competition right now on the roster is just veteran Joe Flacco. Hurts wasn't the most consistent thrower last year, completing just 52 percent of his passes, but he had 354 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground. He brings an element this Philly that they just haven't had in recent years and assuming he's named the starter, he has fantasy QB1 appeal based on his rushing floor.

Free-agent WR Antonio Brown (Buccaneers) settled the civil dispute between he and Britney Taylor, according to his representation Wednesday, April 21.

Adam Thielen Apr 21 12:23am ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen ranked second in the league with 10 receiving touchdowns inside the 10 in 2020, according to Pro Football Focus.

Mike Evans Apr 21 12:23am ET

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans ranked third in the league with nine receiving touchdowns inside the 10 in 2020, according to Pro Football Focus.

Demario Davis Apr 20 9:23pm ET

New Orleans Saints LB Demario Davis has accumulated 73 quarterback pressures since the start of the 2018 season - the most by any linebacker over that stretch - according to Pro Football Focus.

    From TheHuddle

Taysom Hill Apr 20 7:13pm ET

New Orleans Saints QB Taysom Hill is training exclusively as a quarterback this offseason after previously coming to camp prepared to play multiple positions.

Fantasy Spin: Hill served as a cheat code in some fantasy football formats last season. In leagues where he was eligible as a tight end, he was a must-start when starting at QB for the Saints in place of an injured Drew Brees. He's likely to compete with QB Jameis Winston in training camp and in the preseason with Winston the presumed Week 1 starter. Though Hill offers some mobility and the potential for rushing touchdowns, his fantasy ceiling as a passer is quite low. Fantasy managers should be hoping Winston gets the job.

    Blidi Wreh-Wilson Apr 20 6:33pm ET

Free-agent CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson (Falcons) visited the Las Vegas Raiders Tuesday, April 20.

DaQuan Jones Apr 20 4:13pm ET

Updating a previous report, free-agent DT DaQuan Jones (Titans) signed a one-year contract worth $4.05 million with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, April 20.

    From TheHuddle

Rashard Robinson Apr 20 4:13pm ET

Dallas Cowboys CB Rashard Robinson was suspended for the first two games of the 2021 season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances Tuesday, April 20.

    From TheHuddle

DaQuan Jones Apr 20 1:43pm ET

Updating a previous report, free-agent DT DaQuan Jones (Titans) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, April 20. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

    From TheHuddle

Devontae Booker Apr 20 1:33pm ET

New York Giants RB Devontae Booker was 'worth the price' the team paid in free agency because he is 'a three-down back' that 'only makes the Giants stronger,' according to general manager Dave Gettleman. New York inked Booker to a two-year contract worth $5.5 million earlier this spring.

Fantasy Spin: Booker may have a three-down skill set in theory because he is a capable receiver, but he's a replacement-level runner on his third team in three years and hasn't logged more than last year's 93 carries in a season since his rookie year in 2016. Moreover, Saquon Barkley, if he can stay healthy in 2021, will keep Booker on the sidelines for all but a few snaps per game. Booker's only value to fantasy owners is that of a low-end handcuff.

Alex Smith Apr 20 12:00pm ET

Former Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith has retired from the NFL. Smith, the former No. 1 overall pick for the 49ers, spent 16 seasons in the NFL. The most notable part of his WFT tenure was a devastating leg injury in 2018 that put Smith's NFL future -- and his life, at one point -- in doubt. Smith's miraculous comeback last season saw him start six games for Washington, going 5-1 as a starter. He threw for 1,582 yards and six touchdowns while completing 66.7 percent of his passes, but Smith also threw eight interceptions. His retirement shouldn't come as a huge surprise, especially with his starting role in Washington gone after the team signed Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Bryce Love Apr 20 11:50am ET

The Washington Football Team has waived running back Bryce Love. Love's NFL career has gotten off to a rocky start following an ACL tear in college, as he's yet to see any game action in the NFL through two seasons. There's some clear talent here with Love if he's able to come back healthy, but it's definitely worth questioning if that ever happens. The 23-year-old will end up on a roster somewhere in training camp, but it might be a long shot for him to land on an opening day roster in 2021. He's still worth a roster spot in deep dynasty leagues but can be dropped in all other formats.
