  • Tue Sep 1st (11:59pm) - deadline to join an 8hr slow (FLC Thu Sep 3rd)
  • Thu Sep 3rd (11:59pm) - deadline to join a 4hr slow (FLC Sat Sep 5th)
  • Sat Sep 5th (11:59pm) - deadline to join a 2hr slow (FLC Mon Sep 7th)
  • Tue Sep 8th (11:59pm) - deadline to join a 1hr slow (FLC only)
  • Fri Sep 4th (9:00am) - all 8hr clocks lowered to 4hr clocks (FLC Sun Sep 6th)
  • Mon Sep 7th (9:00am) - all 4hr clocks lowered to 2hr clocks (FLC Wed Sep 9th)

I see. I see. Thanks for all that good information! I guess my only contention is that the gap between the draft and the end of preseason is an extremely narrow one, hardly enough time to determine if a rookie or otherwise is gonna “work out” however preseason injuries and last minute signings, I certainly agree could alter decisions. So appreciate the time in explaining.!

So, the reason for 24 spots in the off-season...it allows you the flexibility to draft long-shot guys in rounds 7-10 to see if they end up working out.  I have already had 2 season ending injuries to my squad, so I am down to 19 players on my active roster.  By forcing the cutdown to 20, it also forces teams to make decisions on who to keep and who to release to waivers, creating activity and potential for other teams to grab guys off of waivers.  This helps prevent stronger teams from holding on to all the talented players...they have to either drop guys that have potential, or trade them for future draft capital.  This allows weaker teams to improve via trades and the waiver wire.  It helps encourage parity in the league. Strong teams are still going to win (most likely) but it means that people who take over orphan teams don't need to wait for 5-6 draft classes worth of rookie drafts to see their team improve to the point where they can be competitive.
