New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge (elbow) took live batting practice at the team's minor-league facility in Tampa Bay on Monday, according to Erik Boland of Newsday. Judge will take more at-bats on Monday, and if that goes well, he'll return Tuesday against the Texas Rangers. It's great news for the Yankees and fantasy managers that Judge is nearing a return so quickly after going on the 10-day injured list on July 26 with a flexor strain. Judge will initially DH when he comes back, which could push Giancarlo Stanton into the outfield for the first time 2023. Ideally for the Yankees, the Stanton experiment will work out and they'll be able to keep his powerful bat in the lineup alongside Judge's.

The Chicago White Sox announced that they have placed infielder Miguel Vargas (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique, retroactive to Aug. 2. The club recalled infielder Curtis Mead from Triple-A Charlotte to take Vargas' roster spot. The 25-year-old Vargas is one of the few White Sox to put up decent numbers over a large sample of work this season. He's hitting .229/.305/.402 with 13 homers, 44 RBI, 57 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 439 plate appearances. Defensively, Vargas has divided his time between the two corner infield positions. The White Sox started Lenyn Sosa at first and Brooks Baldwin at third in his absence on Saturday, and they'll do the same Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder/designated hitter Mike Trout is back in the lineup on Sunday at DH and hitting third against Chicago White Sox right-hander Sean Burke. The Angels went the previous two games without Trout, who was dealing with an illness. The future Hall of Famer is no longer putting up MVP-caliber numbers, but he has still slashed a solidly above-average .235/.362/.461 with 19 homers, 47 RBI, 43 runs scored, and two steals in 359 plate appearances this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman (ankle) exited Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays with an apparent injury to his right ankle, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports. Edman, who started at second base, came out in the top of the fifth inning after hitting a single to finish the day 1-for-2. The Dodgers replaced him with Miguel Rojas. Edman has dealt with ongoing problems with his right ankle throughout the season, making Sunday's departure especially concerning. While logging double-digit appearances at second, third, and in center field this season, the versatile Edman has hit .228/.281/.396 with 12 homers, 44 RBI, 43 runs scored, and three steals in 332 plate appearances.

The Los Angeles Angels announced that they have reinstated second baseman Christian Moore (thumb) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Scott Kingery to Triple-A Salt Lake. Moore is coming back after missing a month with a sprained left thumb. The 22-year-old rookie is starting at the keystone and batting eighth Sunday against Chicago White Sox right-hander Sean Burke. Between his June 13 promotion to the bigs and his IL placement, Moore hit .189/.302/.396 with three homers, eight RBI, and eight runs scored across 18 games and 64 plate appearances.

The Colorado Rockies have optioned first baseman Michael Toglia to Triple-A Albuquerque, per a team announcement. In other moves, the Rockies placed right-handed reliever Seth Halvorsen (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with an elbow strain and recalled righty Nick Anderson and catcher Braxton Fulford. A first-round pick of the Rockies in 2019, Toglia appeared in a career-high 116 games last season and showed off some power and base-running value with 25 home runs and 10 stolen bases over 458 plate appearances. Toglia's .218/.311/.456 was roughly league average, but he's down to a miserable .194/.261/.361 with 11 HRs, 32 RBI, 22 runs scored, and three steals in 329 plate appearances this season. The 26-year-old's strikeout rate has soared from 32.1% to 38.3% since 2024, which makes his struggles unsurprising. Toglia has gotten the vast majority of starts at first base for the Rockies this year, but Warming Bernabel has taken over the job since they promoted him on July 26.

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk (concussion) was activated from the seven-day injured list and is starting at catcher and batting sixth on Sunday against the visiting Kansas City Royals and right-hander Seth Lugo at the Rogers Centre. Kirk had a minor concussion after he was hit by a foul tip off his facemask last weekend and he ended up missing the minimum time on the seven-day IL. The Blue Jays will get their primary catcher back. The 26-year-old Kirk doesn't have big-time power as a catcher by any means, but he's been a must-start in single-catcher formats in 2025 with the way he's swung the bat. He made his second career All-Star team this year and will return to a .304/.361/.413 slash line with seven home runs, 47 RBI and 27 runs scored in 88 games for the first-place Jays. Kirk is hitless in just two career at-bats versus Lugo.

The Colorado Rockies announced on Sunday that they placed right-handed reliever Seth Halvorsen (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with a right-elbow strain and recalled right-hander Nick Anderson from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Halvorsen was pulled mid at-bat during his outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday and will now miss at least the next couple of weeks. In the 25-year-old's absence, Victor Vodnik and Juan Mejia might be the most likely candidates for saves in Colorado, even though Dugan Darnell came in to close the door on the Bucs in the 8-5 victory on Saturday. The Rockies are sending Halvorsen for an MRI exam on Sunday, at which point we should know more about whether he'll need more than 15 days to recover. He has an ERA just under 5.00 and has converted 11 of his 14 save chances for the worst team in baseball.

Kansas City Royals second baseman Jonathan India (forearm, wrist) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff for Sunday's series finale in Canada against the Toronto Blue Jays and right-hander Chris Bassitt. Adam Frazier will start at second and hit seventh. India was hit by a pitch in Saturday's loss at Rogers Centre in the third inning and suffered a contusion on his left wrist/forearm. He avoided any serious damage, though, and is back in action a day later to wrap up the weekend series. The former Rookie of the Year is hitless in just two career at-bats against Bassitt and isn't a very attractive DFS piece given his lackluster 2025 season with KC. The 28-year-old is hitting .240/.320/.343 with five homers, 32 RBI and 48 runs and has gone 19-for-87 (.218) with a homer and nine RBI in 23 games since the start of July.

MLB.com's Sonja Chen writes that Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy (knee) "should return early next week," possibly as early as Monday against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. "He's going to DH today [with OKC], and we'll see how it goes," Roberts said. Muncy hasn't played since July 2 when he suffered a serious knee bruise in a game against the Chicago White Sox. He's gone 3-for-12 with an RBI in four minor-league rehab games with Triple-A Oklahoma City and is now on the cusp of a return to the big leagues. Muncy is scheduled to serve as the DH on Sunday for OKC, and if he comes out of that well, he could be activated from the 10-day IL before Monday's game in L.A. Rookie Alex Freeland has gotten a look at third recently for the Blue, but Muncy will return to being the primary third baseman when he's activated. He should be rostered in all fantasy leagues.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick (knee) was pulled from the fourth inning of Saturday's win over the Washington Nationals due to a flare-up of soreness in his surgically-repaired left knee, and he will sit out of Sunday's series finale in D.C. Newly-acquired outfielder Brandon Lockridge will make the start in right field and will hit eighth against Nationals right-hander Brad Lord. It remains to be seen if Frelick can return for Monday's series opener against the Atlanta Braves, and this very well could turn into something that lands him on the injured list. The 25-year-old is much more valuable to the Brew Crew in real life than in fantasy, and Lockridge doesn't really move the fantasy needle, either, outside of some speed for those in deep NL-only leagues. Lockridge hit .216 (19-for-88) with no homers, five RBI and eight steals in 47 games for the Padres earlier this year.

The New York Yankees have officially activated right-hander Luis Gil (lat) from the 60-day injured list for his season debut against the Miami Marlins on Sunday. To make room for Gil, the Yankees placed reliever Jonathan Loaisiga (back) on the 15-day injured list with right mid-back tightness, retroactive to Aug. 2. Gil suffered a high-grade lat strain during spring training, which has prevented him from following up on last season's AL Rookie of the Year-winning effort. The 27-year-old earned the honor after going 15-7 with a 3.50 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and 171:77 K:BB over 151 2/3 innings. After throwing 75 pitches in his final rehab start, Gil is ready to slide back into New York's rotation and take over for the just-released Marcus Stroman.

The New York Yankees announced that they have placed reliever Jonathan Loaisiga (back) on the 15-day injured list with right mid-back tightness, retroactive to Aug. 2. The team activated right-hander Luis Gil (lat) from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move. After missing almost all of last season because of elbow surgery, Loaisiga has returned this year to post a 4.25 ERA, a 1.48 WHIP, 25:10 K:BB, and seven holds in 29 2/3 innings. The 30-year-old righty now joins fellow late-game options Fernando Cruz (oblique) and Mark Leiter Jr. (leg) on the IL, though the latter is nearing a return.

Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora is not confident that reliever Liam Hendriks (hip) will return this season, Tim Healey of the Boston Globe reports. Hendriks, who last pitched May 27, has been out for over two months with hip inflammation. The Red Sox signed the three-time All-Star to a two-year, $10 million contract before the 2024 season, but it appears that it will go down as a failed investment. Hendriks, 36, missed all of last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and went 0-2 with a 6.59 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 12:7 K:BB in 13 2/3 innings this year before suffering the hip injury.

The Milwaukee Brewers have recalled right-hander Logan Henderson from Triple-A Nashville. He'll take the roster spot of righty Jacob Misiorowski (leg). The Brewers placed Misiorowski on the 15-day injured list with a left tibia contusion, retroactive to July 31. Henderson will start Sunday against the Washington Nationals in his first appearance in the majors since May 25. The 23-year-old rookie made the first four starts of his career early in the season and thrived, going 3-0 with a 1.71 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP, and 29:6 K:BB over 21 innings. Henderson has been the odd man out of a crowded Brewers rotation since then, but he'll have a chance to make a case for a spot in Misiorowski's absence. He has a favorable matchup Sunday against a Washington offense that ranks 19th in the majors in runs scored and 24th in wOBA against righties (.310).

The team recalled righty Logan Henderson from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Misiorowski had been scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals, but the Brewers will have to make other arrangements. They'll now go at least two weeks without Misiorowski, a 23-year-old rookie who has excelled in his first seven starts. The 6-foot-7 flamethrower has gone 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA, a 0.96 WHIP, and 47:14 K:BB across 33 1/3 innings.

The Houston Astros will start right-hander Jason Alexander for their series opener in Miami on Monday, according to Chandler Rome of The Athletic. The Astros haven't named starters for Tuesday or Wednesday, but one of those spots could go to Spencer Arrighetti (thumb). The righty is nearing a return after missing four months with a thumb injury. Alexander, who has divided his season between the Athletics and Astros, has made eight appearances (three starts) and stumbled to a 7.36 ERA with a 1.83 WHIP, 20 strikeouts, and 14 walks in 25 2/3 innings.

Arizona Diamondbacks infield prospect Tommy Troy has been promoted to Triple-A Reno after a strong showingat Double-A Amarillo. The D-backs' fifth-ranked prospect slashed .286/.382/.461 with 12 home runs and 21 steals over 87 games for the Sod Poodles. The 23-year-old displayed improved contact skills this season, striking out at just a 17.5 percent rate compared to a 22.2 percent rate at High-A in 2024, and continued to walk at a strong clip, drawing free passes at a 12.3 percent rate. With solid all-around hit, power, and run tools, the former first-rounder has an intriguing offensive profile for fantasy, especially at second base, and could be ready to contribute for the big league club next year, so it's worth keeping an eye on his performance from here on out.
From RotoBaller
Los Angeles Angels second base prospect Christian Moore (thumb) continued his rehab assignment on Saturday, going 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored in his fourth rehab game at Single-A Inland Empire. The Angels' top prospect has been on the shelf since the beginning of July with a sprained thumb. He was hitting .189 (10-for-53) with three home runs in 18 games during his time with the big league club before the injury. While a 12.5 percent walk rate was good, he was sporting a poor 66.1 percent contact rate and a 31.3 percent strikeout rate for the Halos. There is plenty of room for improvement, but at just 22 years old, the 2024 first-rounder still has a bright future and should be an impactful fantasy player next season.
