Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich said he sees a lot of Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota in quarterback Mitch Trubisky, and Helfrich also like's Trubisky's attractive skills and coachability. Helfrich coached Mariota at the University of Oregon. Helfrich will be tasked with improving Trubisky in his second NFL season. "Mitchell has a tight release," Helfrich said. "He's an accurate passer. They also have a couple of things similar that make them inaccurate. Their feet take them out of position. I sense from talking to a couple of offensive linemen, and this was unsolicited, when your offensive linemen are talking about how hard your quarterback works, that's a great sign." Trubisky mainly looked overmatched in his first NFL season, but to be fair, he didn't have much to work with in the passing game. If Chicago adds some decent pass catchers in the offseason, Trubisky should be able to take a step forward, but he's still more attractive in dynasty leagues than in redraft ones.

Jan 11 12:40pm ET

Former Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich was hired by the Chicago Bears as offensive coordinator. This does not come as a surprise after 670 The Score's Mike Mulligan reported the two sides were close to a deal on Thursday morning. Helfrich served as Chip Kelly's coordinator at Oregon before being promoted to the lead job in 2013. New coach Matt Nagy will call the plays for Chicago, but Helfrich should help with game planning and work closely with quarterback Mitch Trubisky. With defensive coordinator Vic Fangio expected to stick around, the Bears have the makings of a quality coaching staff.

Jan 9 2:30pm ET

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy plans to call his own plays in 2018. The long-time Andy Reid assistant had never called his own plays until late in the 2017 season, but he helped turn the Chiefs slumping offense around. The challenge will be considerably steeper with the Bears, who have extremely little talent around quarterback Mitch Trubisky.

Jan 8 6:20pm ET

The Chicago Bears announced they have found their next head coach in former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, per chicagosuntimes.com. Nagy served under Chiefs Coach Andy Reid since 2013 and is a former Arena Football League quarterback. The 39-year old called offensive plays for the team for final five games of this season including the Chiefs playoff loss to the Titans on Saturday. He also shares a friendship with Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky dating back to last year during the NFL combine, according to ESPN radio's David Kaplan. It is easy to see why the Bears went in this direction given the fact that Nagy's youth and offensive-minded philosophies are the complete opposite of since-fired John Fox. Nagy will be brought in to take Trubisky to the next level and ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Nagy will call all of the offensive plays. Expect the Bears to be extremely aggressive in the offseason acquiring offensive talent in free agency and the draft.

Jan 8 12:10pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy is being hired as the Chicago Bears next head coach, according to Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times. Nagy, 39, will replace John Fox (who was 14-34 in three seasons) and was the quarterback's coach for the Chiefs before being promoted to offensive coordinator last season. A key fact about Nagy is that the Chiefs and Nagy were said to be very high on Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky coming out of the draft last year. After the Bears drafted Trubisky, the Chiefs traded up and selected Patrick Mahomes with the 10th overall pick.

Jan 3 12:10am ET

The Chicago Bears have requested to interview Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy for their head coaching position, according to sources. Nagy has also been requested for a head coaching interview with the Colts. With the Chiefs playing in the Wild-Card round this weekend, Nagy may have to wait to interview for new jobs. With defensive coordinator Vic Fangio likely staying on in Chicago, the Bears are focused on finding an offensive-minded head coach that can help continue the development of quarterback Mitch Trubisky. For Trubisky to improve in his second year, though, the Bears will need to give him a lot more help in the passing game.

Jan 1 3:30pm ET

The Chicago Bears have fired head coach John Fox. Fox was very mediocre as the head coach in his three years in Chicago, leading them to a 14-34 record. Their defense surprised many in 2017, but the offense lacked playmakers around rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky, so a rebuild is likely coming there. Trubisky has some upside to him, but until he has reliable weapons around him in the passing game, his fantasy upside will be capped as a QB2.

Dec 31 6:10pm ET

Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky wrapped up his first NFL season with a 23-10 loss to the Vikings. Trubisky finishes his rookie campaign with a record of 4-8 and has made some subtle strides as the season has gone along. He completed 20 of 36 passes for 178 yards against the Vikings but averaged only 4.9 yards per completion. Trubisky led two impressive drives in the fourth quarter, but the Bears failed to find the end zone despite running eight plays from inside the five-yard line. The Bears should be looking for a new coach next season, and there have been flashes of potential from Trubisky to give hope that he could develop into a difference maker in his second season. For the year, Trubisky threw for 2,093 yards with nine total touchdowns and seven interceptions in 12 starts.

Dec 31 4:53pm ET

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky completed 20-of-36 pass attempts for 178 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings. RB Tarik Cohen rushed for 13 yards on three yards, which actually led the team, while RB Jordan Howard ran nine times for nine yards. WR Dontrelle Inman led the team with 94 yards on five receptions, while WR Josh Bellamy chipped in with a 30-yard grab on his only catch. WR Kendall Wright wrapped up the season with five snags for 29 yards, while Cohen finished with a team-high six receptions but just 14 yards.

Dec 26 4:20pm ET

Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky continues to make steady progress in his rookie season after throwing for 193 yards with a rushing touchdown in the Bears 20-3 win over the Browns. Trubisky is now averaging 259 yards passing over his last three games with two passing touchdowns and two rushing scores. This week, however, the rookie with go up against a Vikings defense with something to play for and has allowed the third fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Trubisky made his NFL debut against the Vikings in Week 5 and certainly has come a long way since throwing for 128 yards with one touchdown and one interception in that game. But Trubisky should not be in fantasy lineups in Week 17 against a defense that hasn't allowed more than 173 yards to a passer since Week 12.

Dec 24 4:43pm ET

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky went 14-for-23 for 193 yards against the Cleveland Browns in Week 16. He also rushed for 44 yards and one touchdown on seven carries during the game.

Dec 21 5:10pm ET

Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky will look to bounce back from a three-interception performance last week against the Lions. The Bears are slowly opening up the playbook for the rookie, which has led to an increase in passing yards but also in turnover possibilities. Trubisky is improving but has five interceptions to only three touchdown passes over his last five games. He will go up against a winless Browns defense that has allowed the fifth most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. They have allowed multiple touchdown passes to nine different passers this season, but Trubisky has not thrown for more than one score yet in his career. With the fantasy championship on the line, it is tough to trust Trubisky in any format for Week 16.

Dec 17 1:50pm ET

Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw for over 300 yards for the first time in his career but also had three interceptions in the Bears inept loss to the Lions 20-10. The Bears could not get anything going on offense in the first half and most of Trubisky's numbers (31 of 46 for 314 yards) can be attributed to a lot of garbage-time passes. Trubisky made some nice throws in the game, but the offense never found a rhythm and the rookie paid dearly whenever he was inaccurate. The Bears will face the winless Browns next week.

Dec 16 8:33pm ET

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky threw for 314 yards in Week 15 to go with one touchdown, but he was picked off three times against the Detroit Lions.

Dec 16 8:30pm ET

Bears' QB Mitch Trubisky passed for 314 yards on 31-of-46 with one touchdown in Saturday's game in Detroit. He did throw three interceptions in the loss.

Dec 13 2:50pm ET

Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky will look to build off his two-touchdown, 271-yard performance against the Bengals when the Bears travel to Detroit for Week 15. He will go up against a Lions defense that has allowed at least 269 yards and multiple touchdowns to the last three quarterback's they have faced. The rookie quarterback has thrown for over 200 yards only twice thus far in his first season but has an excellent shot at eclipsing that against a Lions team that has allowed 200 passing yards to 11 different quarterbacks this season. Trubisky threw for 179 yards and one touchdown in a Week 11 loss to the Lions and is still very raw in terms of experience. Trubisky's fantasy value is on the rise but does not deserve starting consideration in fantasy for Week 15.

Dec 10 6:33pm ET

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky completed 25 of his 32 pass attempts for 271 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 14 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also ran twice for five yards and a score.

Dec 10 5:00pm ET

Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky completed 25-of-32 passes for 271 yards, including one passing touchdown and one rushing score as the Bears steam-rolled the Bengals 33-7. Trubisky was on point the entire game, hitting receiver Kendall Wright consistently, leading a 200-yard plus running attack and hitting tight end Adam Shaheen with a perfect pass in the end zone for a touchdown. The rookie has taken his lumps at times but this performance offers glimmers of hope for the future. Trubisky is not a fantasy option this deep into the season but has plenty of value in keeper and dynasty leagues.

Dec 6 3:30pm ET

Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky will get another tough test when the Bears travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. The Bengals have allowed the 12th fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks but have surrendered at least 200 yards to each of their last seven passing opponents. 200 yards is a number that Trubisky has eclipsed only once in his rookie campaign and could struggle again this Sunday. Trubisky is not a fantasy option this week.

Dec 3 6:03pm ET

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky completed 12-of-15 pass attempts for 102 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 13 game against the San Francisco 49ers. He also rushed four times for 19 yards.
