Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage was impressive during his rookie season but still has room to grow, according to running backs coach Eric Studesville. 'He's a big, physical body,' Studesville said. 'He can run. He's athletic. He's got a lot of growth to do as far as seeing and recognizing things. His work ethic is tremendous. He's got speed for a big man.'

Fantasy Spin: Ballage rushed for 191 yards and one touchdown in limited playing time this past season but could be a contender for the starting running back job in 2019. He has a chance to be a No. 3 or No. 4 fantasy running back depending on his role.

Dec 30 4:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage rushed 12 times for 47 yards in Week 17 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Spin: Ballage had his chance at more work down the stretch and he handled himself well. It's likely be and Kenyan Drake head into 2019 as the top two backs barring any additional personnel moves or draft picks in the offseason. Ballage could be quite a fantasy sleeper if things stay the way they are in the Miami backfield.

Dec 23 9:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage rushed four times for 10 yards and caught two passes for 39 yards in a 17-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Ballage didn't take over Frank Gore's role on early downs as many expected, but the Dolphins couldn't generate any type of offense in general. Ballage remains an intriguing keeper option, but he's no more than a flier in DFS formats in the regular season finale.

Dec 23 4:20pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Kalen Ballage had an underwhelming day in Miami's 17-7 loss to Jacksonville. Coming off a 123, one touchdown performance big things were expected of Ballage in this game. Instead he rushed just four times for 10 yards and caught two passes for 39 yards. The Dolphins offense was pitiful in this game, having only ran 33 plays all game. They rushed eighteen times, but no player had more than six carries. Miami is splitting up work among three backs, causing none of them to have value. Ballage will be hard to trust next week against Buffalo.

Dec 21 3:53pm ET

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Ballage took over when Frank Gore suffered an injury last week and likely will receive most of the carries this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He can be a possible flex option in standard leagues.

Dec 21 2:30pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Kalen Ballage should be in line for a larger role in Miami's Week 16 matchup against Jacksonville. Ballage took over for an injured Frank Gore last week and took advantage of the opportunity by rushing for 123 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Ballage doesn't draw the easiest matchup; the Jaguars have allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. Jacksonville did allow Derrick Henry to run all over them two weeks ago, so they aren't invincible either. He's a good flex option or low-end RB2 this week.

Dec 20 6:03pm ET

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage (hip) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

Fantasy Spin: Ballage appears to be in line to receive most of the carries with Frank Gore out for the season. He will have a tough matchup this week but can be considered a flex option in standard leagues.

Dec 19 5:33pm ET

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage (hip) was able to take part in a full practice session Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Fantasy Spin: Ballage saw his most extensive work as a pro and went over 100 yards on the ground last week in Minnesota. It's uncertain if he'll handle the lion's share of the carries again this week against Jacksonville, but he is at least worth scooping up if still available off the waiver wire.

Dec 19 5:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins WR Danny Amendola (knee), DT Ziggy Hood (hamstring) and S T.J. McDonald (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 19. LB Kiko Alonso (knee, hamstring), CB Cornell Armstrong (ankle), LS John Denney (finger, hamstring), CB Xavien Howard (knee) and QB Ryan Tannehill (shoulder, ankle) were listed as a limited participants. RB Kalen Ballage (hip), RB Kenyan Drake (shoulder), OT Ja'Wuan James (shoulder), FS Reshad Jones (shoulder), WR DeVante Parker (shoulder) and C Travis Swanson (ankle) took part in a full practice session.

Dec 16 8:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage racked up 12 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Spin: Ballage was the next man up, not Kenyan Drake, after Frank Gore departed with an injury. While the Dolphins overall were pretty pathetic, Ballage certainly looked good. He might be worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues if you need help at running back heading into Week 16.

Dec 16 4:40pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Kalen Ballage had the best game of his young career in the Dolphins' 41-17 loss to Minnesota. Ballage took on a larger role after Frank Gore left with a foot sprain, and Ballage rushed for 123 yards on 12 carries, including a 75-yard touchdown run. Prior to this game Ballage had 11 yards on eight careers for his career. Ballage was one of the few bright spots for Miami in this one, and based on his usage over Kenyan Drake he'd presumably be Miami's primary ball-carrier in Week 16 against Jacksonville if Frank Gore misses that game.

Dec 16 4:30pm ET

Dolphins' RB Kalen Ballage ran for 123 yards on 12 carries with one touchdown for an outstanding 10.2 yards per carry in Sunday's loss in Minnesota.

Oct 14 11:43am ET

The Miami Dolphins have declared TE A.J. Derby, QB Ryan Tannehill, LB Martrell Spaight, CB Bobby McCain, RB Kalen Ballage, DL Cameron Wake and DE Charles Harris inactive for Week 6.

Sep 30 12:10pm ET

The Miami Dolphins have made rookie running back Kalen Ballage active for the first time this season ahead of Sunday's meeting with the New England Patriots. While it's not clear what this means, with Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore failing to make a huge impression thus far, there could be room for Ballage as the season progresses. He's not worth a roster spot yet, but keep an eye on how the Dolphins use him this week.
