2019 RTSports Outlook

Gordon landed with the Patriots last year and seemed on his way to great things but had an-other hiccup off the field. He is suspended indefinitely. He could be reinstated before the season, during the season or after the season. It really isn't known at this point. He just needs to get himself clean and stay clean, which is easier said than done for Gordon, who has battled substance abuse since entering the league. The positive for Gordon was he played well with the Patriots, having 40 receptions for 720 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games. Gordon had two 100-yard games and at least four receptions seven games. The Patriots already resigned Gordon, so if he plays again, it will be with the Patriots. Gordon is a very talented player. He is a matchup nightmare for defenses because of his combination of size and speed.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Gordon is obviously a huge risk. He has a high ceiling if playing, though. He can post big numbers in this offense but you just never know what will happen with Gordon. He might be the biggest question mark in the draft. It all comes down to price tag for Gordon. If you can get him at a good price, he is worth the risk. If not, don't bother.

RotoBaller's Outlook

New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon will get another shot at NFL redemption with the New England Patriots in 2019. Gordon was reinstated from the commissioners exempt list late in the preseason, but will get the chance to line up for the Patriots in Week 1. Gordon has flashed his extraordinary talent in the past, and was having success in New England prior to leaving the team last season. In 11 games he had 720 yards, with three touchdowns on 68 targets and 40 receptions. His catch% was not ideal, sitting below 60%, but it is always tough joining a team late and hopefully he built up enough rapport with Brady last season to improve that efficiency in 2019. If Gordon gets it right and can stay on the field he has the ability to be a must-start receiver every week, especially with Brady looking for a new touchdown threat without recently retired Rob Gronkowski. The value on Gordon right now is rising, but his history means that there is always a chance his current ADP will still present value come seasons end. However, beware it could all come crashing down very quickly.

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice Saturday, Oct. 19, and is not expected to play in the Week 7 game Monday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon was banged up in Week 6 and left with just one catch for 7 yards. His expected absence opens the door for more targets for fellow WRs Jakobi Meyers, Phillip Dorsett and Phillip Olszewski although they are, in that order, all flex plays at the very best.

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 18.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon's status for Week 7 is uncertain at this point, but fantasy players will know more about his status in the next day or two. He is a risky option since the Patriots play on Monday Night Football, so fantasy players could consider other options.

From TheHuddle

Oct 18 4:50pm ET

New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon (ankle, knee) missed a second straight practice on Friday. Tight ends Ryan Izzo (concussion) and Matt LaCosse (knee) also sat out. Gordon looks unlikely to play on Monday night against the Jets, so fantasy owners should make plans to be without him. If that's the case, it's likely that Julian Edelman and Phillip Dorsett will be the team's top two receivers in a good matchup against Gang Green. Dorsett has sneaky flex and DFS appeal after missing last Thursday's game. LaCosse is out multiple weeks and Izzo is in danger of sitting out Monday, leaving the Pats dangerously thin at tight end. It's why they re-signed veteran Benjamin Watson earlier this week.

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (knee, ankle), TE Matt LaCosse (knee) and TE Ryan Izzo (concussion) did not practice Friday, Oct. 18. RB Rex Burkhead (foot), S Patrick Chung (heel, chest), WR Phillip Dorsett (hamstring) and WR Julian Edelman (chest) were limited.

Oct 17 4:53pm ET

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (ankle, knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 17.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon's status for Week 7 is uncertain at this point, so fantasy players will need to keep an eye on the situation. He is a solid fantasy option when healthy but is a risky option this week since the Patriots play on Monday Night Football.

From TheHuddle

Oct 17 2:33pm ET

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (knee) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 17.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon has missed both of the Pats' practices so far this week after sustaining the knee injury in Week 6, and he'll have a couple more opportunities to get back on the practice field before the team's Week 7 game Monday night. Start lining up another flex option now just in case.

From TheHuddle

Oct 11 2:13pm ET

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (knee) departed with a knee injury in the second quarter Thursday, Oct. 11, but the issue isn't believed to be serious, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon has only totaled 17 catches for 214 scoreless yards over five games since Week 1, and should be regarded as a low-end WR2 for the rest of the season, provided he's healthy.

From TheHuddle

Oct 11 1:10pm ET

New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon (knee), who left Thursday night's game early, was spotted in the second half riding a stationary bike on the sideline. He did not return to the game, but it looks like he's not dealing with a major injury. Gordon disappointed his fantasy owners with just one catch for seven yards in the great matchup, but the good news is it appears he won't have to miss extended time, and the Patriots have 10 days to rest up for their Week 7 Monday night game against the Jets. Gordon hasn't lived up to expectations yet in 2019, especially with Antonio Brown out of the picture, but there's still time for him to rebound.

Oct 11 12:50am ET

New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon caught one pass for seven yards and left in the first half of the Patriots 35-14 win over the Giants with a twisted knee. Gordon was escorted gingerly off the field and did not return in the game. The talented receiver has been listed as questionable on the injury report the past few weeks and he could be looking at missing some time after this latest injury. The season has not gone according to plan to this point for Gordon and his status should be updated over the weekend.

From RotoBaller

Oct 10 10:03pm ET

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (knee) is questionable to return against the New York Giants in Week 6 after injuring his left knee.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon was riding the stationary bike on the sidelines after exiting the medical tent, so even if he doesn't return in Week 6, it is a decent sign that the injury might not be too serious.

From TheHuddle

Oct 10 9:53pm ET

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (knee) exited against the New York Giants in Week 6 with a left knee injury.

Fantasy Spin: The Patriots receiving corps is already banged up, and if Gordon misses time, Julian Edelman should be in for a massive workload. It could also be a good idea to check your waiver wire for N'Keal Harry. The rookie is eligible to return after Week 8 and may be thrust into a big role.

From TheHuddle

Oct 9 3:53pm ET

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 9, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon likely will be active for the Week 6 game and could see more targets with Phillip Dorsett ruled out. He can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 8 5:53pm ET

New England Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett (hamstring) did not practice for a second straight day Tuesday, Oct. 8. RB Rex Burkhead (foot), S Patrick Chung (heel), DB Nate Ebner (groin), WR Julian Edelman (chest), WR Josh Gordon (knee) and LB Shilique Calhoun (ankle) were limited.

From TheHuddle

Oct 8 4:30pm ET

New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon (knee) was limited at practice on Monday but it does not appear it will prevent him from playing against the Giants this Thursday. It has been a solid, yet unspectacular, start for the talented receiver but will have a fantastic matchup in Week 6. The Giants Defense is allowing the second most fantasy points to opposing receivers, including four 100-yard games to four different receivers. Strong, physical receivers like Amari Cooper, Mike Evans and Adam Thielen have dominated the Giants secondary and now Gordon could be on the verge of a breakout game. As long as he is healthy, Gordon will have tons of sleeper value to post WR1 numbers this Thursday.

From RotoBaller

Oct 7 5:03pm ET

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (knee) was limited during practice Monday, Oct. 7. The Patriots did not hold a practice Monday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon has been targeted at least seven times in each of the last three games and should have a favorable matchup this week. He can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Oct 6 6:10pm ET

New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon caught five passes for 59 yards in the Patriots 33-7 romp over the Redskins. Gordon is still looking for his first breakout performance but continues to post modest numbers in the mean time. The talented receiver has only 19 receptions on the season through the first five games but will have an excellent matchup in Week 6. Gordon will face a porous Giants secondary this coming Thursday and will still carry FLEX appeal for that matchup.

From RotoBaller

Oct 6 5:33pm ET

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon finished with five receptions for 59 yards on eight targets in Week 5 against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Spin: It was another so-so line for Gordon and his fantasy owners. He no longer has to worry about Antonio Brown, but Julian Edelman and Tom Brady were doing their thing, and Gordon was a distant second. He remains more of a low-end WR4 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams heading into Thursday's game against the New York Giants.

From TheHuddle

Oct 4 4:53pm ET

New England Patriots WR Josh Gordon (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 4, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Fantasy Spin: Gordon has been targeted 27 times over the first four games and should have a solid role in the passing game again this week. Fantasy players can consider Gordon as a No. 3 receiver this week.

From TheHuddle

Oct 4 4:50pm ET

New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon was removed from the injury report on Friday and will be good to go in Week 5 against the Redskins. It has been a quiet start to Gordon's season thus far, posting 14 receptions for 221 yards and only one touchdown through the first four games. But he will have an excellent matchup against a Redskins Defense that is allowing the second most fantasy points to receivers this season. Through four games, Washington has already allowed eight receivers to post more than nine fantasy points against them. The time is right to start Gordon this week against the Redskins.

From RotoBaller

Oct 4 4:33pm ET

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead (foot), S Patrick Chung (heel), DB Nate Ebner (groin), WR Julian Edelman (chest) and LB Dont'a Hightower (shoulder) were limited in practice all week and are listed as questionable for Week 5 versus the Washington Redskins. DL Michael Bennett (shoulder) fully participated in practice all week, while WR Josh Gordon (knee) was upgraded to full practice Friday, Oct. 4; both players no longer appear on the injury report. WR Gunner Olszewski (hamstring) was not given a practice designation for a second straight day Friday but was also removed from the injury report.
