2019 RTSports Outlook

Flacco played nine games last year. He got hurt and lost his job to rookie Lamar Jackson while he was out injured. Flacco was his usual inconsistent self while playing last year. Flacco had four multiple touchdown games but also two games without a score and two multiple interception games. He has fewer than 20 touchdowns three of his last four seasons. Turnovers and inconsistent play continue to plague Flacco, having 212-passing touchdowns to 136 interceptions for his career. He was traded to the Broncos this offseason and will take over as their starting quarterback until rookie Drew Lock is ready to take over. Flacco has a strong arm and the ability to move around the pocket well. He lacks some accuracy at times and will make some poor decisions when rushed. Flacco is a top performer in the playoffs but can't always sustain that success in the regular season. Expect more of the same this season.

FANTASY OUTLOOK: Flacco was never a top fantasy play, so don't expect a sudden change in production with his move to Denver. He should play in a similar offense. He might be worth a look in a pinch but should not be considered a starter by any means, especially with Lock lurking in the wings.

RotoBaller's Outlook

It may be a little harsh to call Joe Flacco old, as he will be entering this season at 34 years of age. In a time where players like Drew Brees and Tom Brady are playing into their 40s, 34 is not that old. Flacco is a different beast though, as he is only a few seasons removed from a torn ACL, and it was just last season when a hip injury cost him his job in Baltimore.Going from the East coast to the mountains is a lateral move for Flacco. The run game in Denver is going to be the main focus, with last years Cinderella Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman providing the bulk of the offense. Flacco should be able to stay in the pocket as a young core of receivers attempt to get open for him. If Emmanuel Sanders can come back healthy there will at least be a veteran presence on the field. But with his injury and his age of 32, it is hard to know how he will react to treatments and when he might be a full go. This leaves it to Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick and my personal favorite Daesean Hamilton to fill in. There is a good chance no one is this group will sniff a top-12 fantasy finish, which hurts Flacco's ceiling. As a quarterback who loves his tight ends, Flacco does get a little boost with the arrival of Noah Fant, but he is still fighting an uphill battle for fantasy value. With the run game of Lindsay and Freeman looking to be the driving force of the offense, it will be hard for Flacco to be a fantasy star. Yes, Hamilton and Sutton along with Noah Fant could produce some value for him, but they are not enough to lend credence to drafting him. At best he is a QB2 in two-quarterback leagues. At worse, he is not even a streaming option in standard leagues. Flacco is currently not being drafted in most leagues and this is the right move. He should remain on waivers for the entire season except in the direst of situations. If that situation hits? Your season is probably over anyhow.

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco has only had one good week in the five week long season thus far, and things don't lighten up in Week 6 for the veteran signal-caller. Flacco lines up against a Tennessee Titans Defense that is a constant threat to opposing quarterbacks. It would be desperate to throw Flacco into a roster this week, as it seems like he is not destined to thrive in his offensive system.

From RotoBaller

Oct 6 10:50pm ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco got his first win at the helm for the Denver Broncos but failed to fill the stat-sheet while doing so. The veteran signal-caller only attempted 20 passes on the afternoon, connecting on 14 of them for 182 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Flacco's stats suffered from the flow of the game, favoring the Broncos to lean on the run game as they lead for a majority of the game. Things don't ease up for Flacco as he lines up against a stout Tennessee Titans Defense next week.

From RotoBaller

Oct 5 5:30pm ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco posted his best performance of the season last week in a matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars as he totaled over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Flacco looks to keep the ball rolling against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5, who host a middle of the road secondary at the moment. Despite the veteran signal caller's solid performance last week, Flacco should be on most benches in all one QB leagues and could be a situational play in two QB leagues.

From RotoBaller

Oct 1 4:25pm ET

Denver's QB Joe Flacco scored 26.15 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 4 loss against the Jaguars. Flacco threw for 303 yards on 22-of-38 with three touchdowns and one interception.

Sep 30 2:23am ET

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco went 22-of-38 for 303 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Spin: It was easily Flacco's best fantasy performance of the season. The 34-year-old took advantage of a secondary missing Jalen Ramsey and even led a late drive that put the Broncos ahead with 1:32 remaining, but the defense could not hold up their end of the bargain. Flacco should be considered an uninspiring QB2 in fantasy for Week 5 when the Broncos visit the Los Angeles Chargers.

From TheHuddle

Sep 29 10:00pm ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco had his best game to date this season, as he and the Broncos lost in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday afternoon. Flacco completed 22-of-38 passing attempts, totaling 303 yards and three touchdowns. The lone mistake from the veteran signal-caller was an interception to Jaguar Ronnie Harrison. This was the best that the passing attack for Denver has looked all year and Flacco and the team will look to build off of this strong performance versus the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5.

From RotoBaller

Sep 29 8:30pm ET

Denver's QB Joe Flacco passed for 303 yards on 22-of-38 with three touchdowns in Sunday's loss against the Jaguars.

Sep 28 8:20pm ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco faces a tough matchup in Week 4 as he faces off against the Jacksonville Jaguars secondary. The Jaguars have struggled to start the year in defending the pass, but host talented pass defenders on their roster. They will look to keep Joe Flacco and company in check, as they have had a rough start to kickoff 2019. Flacco searches for a breakout game as a Bronco, but until that happens he should be on the bench in most leagues.

From RotoBaller

Sep 22 11:00pm ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco had an abysmal outing against a stout Green Bay Packers Defense. The veteran signal-caller failed to connect for a touchdown on Saturday afternoon, also throwing an interception during the game. Flacco threw for 213 yards on 20-of-29 passing. The season has started slow for the first-year Bronco fantasy-wise, as he has yet to put up an outstanding performance. Things don't get easier for Flacco and the Broncos passing game, as they face off with the Jacksonville Jaguars next week.

From RotoBaller

Sep 22 4:23pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco went 20-for-29 for 213 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3.

Fantasy Spin: Flacco has thrown only two touchdowns over the first three games but does have good pass catchers to work with on offense. He will be facing a solid Jacksonville Jaguars defense next week and can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Sep 20 12:40am ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco has kicked off his campaign in the mile-high city with a slow start, currently producing low-end QB2 numbers. The narrative will stay the same for Week 3, as he lines up against a strong Green Bay Packers Defense who have held the likes of Mitch Trubisky and Kirk Cousins in check the previous two weeks. Avoid Flacco this week in all leagues.

From RotoBaller

Sep 16 6:00am ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco went 35-for-50 for 292 yards and a touchdown, connecting with wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders late in the fourth quarter in the loss to the Bears. The veteran, who played just nine games in 2018 while still a member of the Baltimore Ravens, is posting a 69.1 completion percentage and 91.6 passer rating, with both being career-bests in his first season in Denver. However, he retains little fantasy value outside of deeper leagues or two-quarterback formats, at least until he starts throwing a few more touchdowns.

From RotoBaller

Sep 16 2:33am ET

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco completed 35 of 50 passes for 292 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT in the team's Week 2 loss to the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Spin: Flacco played it safe, completing primarily short passes and making just one mistake, but it was a big one, as he was intercepted at the one-yard line. If one of your QBs went down Sunday and you're looking for a decent backup you could do worse than Flacco.

From TheHuddle

Sep 10 2:00am ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco struggled mightily in his debut with the team on Monday evening, resulting in a 16-24 loss to the Oakland Raiders. The veteran quarterback struggled all game long, not managing to accurately connect with his receivers and looking lost at times in the offense. Flacco connected on 21 of 31 passing attempts, for 286 yards and one touchdown. The signal-caller heads into Week 2 with a matchup against the daunting Chicago Bears Defense, Flacco needs to prove himself before being considered in any lineups moving forward.

From RotoBaller

Sep 10 1:43am ET

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco completed 21-of-31 passes for 268 yards, one touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 1 game against the Oakland Raiders on Monday, Sept. 9 in his team debut.

Fantasy Spin: Flacco didn't put up huge numbers, and he never really does, but he didn't make any mistakes either. He jelled nicely with Courtland Sutton, combining for seven grabs and 120 yards, he hit Emmanuel Sanders for a score and he has some nice new toys in Noah Fant and DaeSean Hamilton. The Broncos offense struggled in this one, but they should be better as the season goes on. Still, Flacco remains more of a low-end QB2 in most fantasy formats.

From TheHuddle

Sep 1 1:50pm ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco matches up against an unproven secondary week one versus the Oakland Raiders. The veteran signal-caller is entering his first season with the Broncos and has a lot of young and exciting talent at his disposal. Flacco has never been known as a stud fantasy option at the quarterback position, but he has been consistent over the years and looks to start on the same trajectory in his first game with the Broncos. For most standard one quarterback leagues, Flacco should be on benches, but he's worth putting in your lineup in two-quarterback leagues if you need him.

From RotoBaller

Aug 20 3:10pm ET

Denver Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco has continued to look in-sync with his first-team offense in his two preseason outings. The veteran quarterback threw for 59 yards, connecting on 7 of 11 passing attempts on the night. Flacco connected with veteran receiver Emmanuel Sanders on a 40-yard bomb that got called back and also threw a beautiful pass over the middle to Courtland Sutton for 21 yards to convert on 3rd and 7. The first-year Bronco signal-caller has never posted stunning fantasy numbers in recent years but could be a solid back-up option at QB in deep leagues.

From RotoBaller

Jul 20 4:03pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco threw three interceptions during practice Saturday, July 20.

Fantasy Spin: Flacco is on track to be the starting quarterback this season and will look to post better numbers than he did last season. He will have a decent receiving corps to work with this season but likely will only be a low-end No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

May 12 4:13pm ET

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco will be the only quarterback that works with the first-team offense during offseason workouts, according to head coach Vic Fangio.

Fantasy Spin: Flacco likely needs to work with the starting offense this offseason since he is learning a new offense. He will have a solid group of receivers to work with in 2019 but has thrown less than 20 touchdowns in three of the last four seasons. He should only be a low-end No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Apr 27 1:53am ET

Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco is expected to be the team's starter for a while, according to GM John Elway, who said he envisioned Flacco and QB Drew Lock as a 'Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers situation' with the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Spin: For those that need a refresher, the Packers drafted Rodgers in 2005 but did not start him until 2008. That would put Lock on track for the starting nod for the 2022 campaign. Of course, that ignores just how poorly Flacco has played in recent years, and given how much Elway has struggled with QBs in a post-Manning world you have to wonder how long the leash would be if Flacco continues to trend downwards. At this point it's hard to see much value in Flacco or Lock in single-year leagues.
