Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was unable to pull off the victory in Week 2, but gave it all he had. Fitzpatrick completed 31 of 47 passes for 328 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to the Buffalo Bills. The 37-year-old veteran was almost able to lead his team to a comeback victory. His solid performance here has likely earned him another start versus the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. You really never know what to expect from Fitzpatrick, but this seems like a favorable streaming matchup for him.

Sep 20 5:53pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 31-of-47 passes for 328 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills and he ran for 12 yards.

Fantasy Spin: Fitz-magic and the Dolphins came up a little short on the scoreboard, but it was an exciting finish, and he really jelled nicely with his tight end, Mike Gesicki (8-130-1). The Dolphins have a quick turnaround with a Thursday road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3.

From TheHuddle

Sep 16 7:50pm ET

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had a horrendous start to the 2020 campaign versus the New England Patriots in Week 1. He completed 20 of 30 passes for 191 yards and three interceptions. Despite that, head coach Brian Flores confirmed that Fitzpatrick will start during their Week 2 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. The team is likely just waiting until Tua Tagovailoa is fully healthy before benching Fitzpatrick. Fantasy owners can go ahead and avoid Fitzpatrick in this one. He won't have value in just about any format.

Sep 14 2:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was named the starting quarterback by head coach Brian Flores for Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills on Monday, Sept. 14.

From TheHuddle

Sep 14 1:00am ET

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick looked awful during their Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots. He completed 20 of 30 passes for 191 passing yards and three interceptions. To be fair, Fitzpatrick lost his best receiving option DeVante Parker (hamstring) for the second half. Regardless, there was really no chance of Fitzpatrick having success against the Patriots Defense. He'll head into a matchup against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. Fantasy owners should probably avoid Fitzpatrick for this one since it'll probably be a similar outcome.

From RotoBaller

Sep 13 4:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick went 20-for-30 for 191 yards, zero touchdowns and three interceptions against the New England Patriots in Week 1.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick played well at times last season but was not able to duplicate those performances in Week 1. He will be facing another strong defense next week and should only be a possible starting option in two quarterback leagues.

From TheHuddle

Sep 9 5:10pm ET

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was named the starter, but his fantasy value will be dependent on their opponent. Sadly, Miami kicks off Week 1 versus the New England Patriots. A team that allowed the fewest amount of fantasy points to quarterbacks last season. The good news is, Fitzpatrick will likely be forced into plenty of pass-heavy game scripts. He could be a deep league option or maybe a two quarterback league candidate depending on the matchup. Otherwise, fantasy owners can probably ignore Fitzpatrick in most 12-team formats.

From RotoBaller

Sep 7 9:33am ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will start Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Spin: Tua Tagovailoa and Fitz don't have much single-year value right now except in two-QB leagues. Tua is a decent chip to have in long-term leagues.

From TheHuddle

Aug 31 7:23pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (personal) participated in practice Monday, Aug. 31.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick is on track to be the starting quarterback this season and posted some decent numbers in 2019. He should be considered a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Aug 24 12:53am ET

Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa is in a competition for the No. 2 quarterback job behind Ryan Fitzpatrick with Josh Rosen, and the 'chances are greater' that Rosen will begin the season in that role unless Tagovailoa 'suddenly starts doing some magical things he hasn't shown yet,' in the opinion of the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.

From TheHuddle

Aug 22 12:43pm ET

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (personal) will return to practice Saturday, Aug. 22, according to head coach Brian Flores.

From TheHuddle

Aug 21 3:00pm ET

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was out of practice on Friday for what head coach Brian Flores termed "personal reasons," giving rookie Tua Tagovailoa and Josh Rosen more repetitions. Fitzpatrick is not going on the COVID-19 list, but Flores was non-committal on how long Fitzpatrick would be away. Unless the grizzled signal-caller is away for an extended absence, it shouldn't hurt his chances of being under center for the start of the regular season. Although Tagovailoa is the franchise's future at the position, Fitzpatrick is expected to begin the year as the starter after he impressed in 2019. But the upside is very minimal and he'll have a short leash throughout the year. Fitzpatrick will be a matchup-based, low-end QB2 in fantasy.

From RotoBaller

Aug 21 9:53am ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (personal) is out of practice Friday, Aug. 21, and the team wouldn't comment on why he was gone or when he would return.

Fantasy Spin: The team has until Friday afternoon to place him on the COVID-19 list if that is the cause. Tua Tagovailoa could wind up having as big of an opening to the starter's job as humanly possible. He's a speculative midrange QB2 as a rookie.

From TheHuddle

Aug 1 3:03pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick says he fully realizes his time as the team's starter is limited with first-round draft pick Tua Tagovailoa getting a green light for workouts. 'I don't know how much time it will be before Tua will be in the lineup. I know that I am the placeholder,' Fitzpatrick said in a recent interview with ESPN. 'We've already had that conversation. I've told him, 'I'm going to do the best I can to lead this team and win football games when I'm out there.' Whenever it is that Tua gets his chance whether it's early or late or whenever, I'm going to be his biggest cheerleader.'

Fantasy Spin: While Fitzpatrick was magical at times last season for a woeful team, Tua is the Dolphins' future, and the rookie's biggest threat to early playing time was his lingering injury issues that appear to be clearing up. Right now, we have to bank on the rookie starting more games for Miami this fall.

From TheHuddle

Jul 14 9:53pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to open the season as the starter, but the team is reportedly 'open-minded' about playing Tua Tagovailoa and has no intention to 'redshirt' him, according to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson via a source.

Fantasy Spin: The Dolphins open the season against three stout defenses over the first five weeks of the season (New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers), so a change could be made sooner than later if Fitzpatrick cannot carry last year's finish over into 2020. Even if and when he takes over the job this year, Tagovailoa needs to be viewed as a low-end QB2 at best.

From TheHuddle

Jun 2 4:30pm ET

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick led the team in rushing last season, but he was also surprisingly effective taking shots deep down the field. The grizzled veteran wasn't afraid to throw the ball downfield, even if the coverage was tight, as 56.6 percent of his 53 deep pass attempts were into tight windows. Fitzpatrick had a 6:2 touchdown-to-interception rate on deep passes and helped the Dolphins pull out some improbable wins during their rebuild. His QB rating on deep passes was a nice 100.8. The 37-year-old defied expectations last year and could be the Week 1 starter in 2020 if Miami feels rookie Tua Tagovailoa isn't quite ready, but he's just keeping the seat warm for the future of the franchise.

From RotoBaller

May 19 4:03pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick recently said on the 'What's Next with Eric Wood' podcast he's looking forward to mentoring rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa in 2020. 'I'm really excited, I'm really excited that they drafted him,' Fitzpatrick said. 'I'm excited because I watched him play at Alabama and he seems like he's a pretty dynamic talent. For me, I'm his biggest cheerleader right now. ... Hopefully, some of the lessons I'm able to teach him are him watching me play, but if it's the other way around, I'm going to do my best to help him to succeed in the best way that he can,' Fitzpatrick said.

Fantasy Spin: Fitzpatrick, a 15-year NFL veteran, may have the inside track on the starting job over the No. 5 pick of the 2020 NFL Draft due to abbreviated offseason programs around the league. He threw for 3,529 yards and 20 touchdowns against 13 interceptions last season while adding 243 rushing yards and four touchdowns across 15 games (13 starts). Tagovailoa has immense value in dynasty and keeper leagues, but either QB would be only a mid-tier QB2 in redraft formats.

From TheHuddle

May 17 5:33pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick posted an 89.8 QBR in the red zone in 2019 - good for third among NFL quarterbacks - according to ESPN's Matt Bowen.

From TheHuddle

May 3 4:53pm ET

Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick averaged 2.8 yards per play on screen passes last season - the lowest such mark in the league.

From TheHuddle

Apr 20 10:20pm ET

There has been buzz that the Miami Dolphins could pass on a quarterback at pick No. 5 in the first round and instead take an offensive tackle, with the idea of taking a swing at a player like Utah State quarterback Jordan Love later on. There have also been whispers from other teams that the Dolphins won't take Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa, so if they do go with a signal-caller at No. 5, it might be Oregon's Justin Herbert instead. Miami is keeping their draft plans very close to the vest, so it's anyone's guess who they go with at No. 5, but they obviously would like to find their franchise QB in this draft. Veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick can help groom whoever they select and give them time to learn for at least half a season.
