2019 RTSports Outlook

Benjamin didn't get quite as much work last year, having 12 receptions in 12 games. He had 34 receptions the previous season, so his targets were way down. He will try to earn a bigger role this year but likely sticks as the No. 4 or 5 receiver. Benjamin lacks size but has good speed and does well as a deep threat. He runs good routes and does a good job of finding the soft spot in coverage. He is more than just a vertical threat, improving his route running and becoming a more complete receiver. Benjamin isn't a physical player, though, and will shy away from contact a little. Fantasy Outlook: Benjamin took a step back last year and might be better served playing with a new team. He is not worth a draft pick at the moment. He could get around 20 catches for 250 yards and a score or two.

WR Travis Benjamin (quadriceps) on Thursday, Oct. 17, was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a quadriceps injury.

Fantasy Spin: Benjamin had been struggling with six catches for 30 yards on 16 targets, and his departure will leave the team with a WR corps of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Geremy Davis, Andre Patton and Jason Moore.

The Los Angeles Chargers placed wide receiver Travis Benjamin (quadriceps) on Injured Reserve on Thursday and signed defensive tackle T.Y. McGill in a corresponding move. Benjamin can return later this year, but he should be dropped from all fantasy rosters in deeper leagues. The 29-year-old had just six catches on 16 targets for 30 scoreless yards in five games this year. With Dontrelle Inman also on IR, Geremy Davis figures to be the team's No. 3 wideout behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. He won't be fantasy relevant unless there's an injury ahead of him.

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin (quadriceps) did not practice on Wednesday after getting banged up in the Sunday night loss to the Steelers. Consider him questionable to suit up for Week 7 against the Titans, but Benjamin has time to return to practice later this week. With tight end Hunter Henry back in the fold, Benjamin will see precious few targets behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. He's off the fantasy radar as more of a WR5/6.

Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry (knee) did not participate in practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Denver Broncos. S Nasir Adderley (hamstring), PK Mike Badgley (groin) and RB Justin Jackson (calf) also were held out of practice all week and are listed as doubtful. DE Melvin Ingram (hamstring) was upgraded to a limited practice Friday, Oct. 4, while LB Thomas Davis (groin) was limited all week; both players are listed as questionable. Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin (hip) and tight end Virgil Green (groin) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Benjamin and Green are both on track to play in Week 5 against the Broncos after being inactive in Week 4. Benjamin will only be a WR4/flex or DFS sleeper if Mike Williams (back) misses another game. Otherwise, he'll be third on the depth chart behind Keenan Allen and Williams. Even in a No. 2 role, Benjamin has boom or bust written all over him. There are plenty of better options. Green has two catches on three targets for 13 yards in three games. He's not on the fantasy radar and is a block-first tight end.

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (hip) will not play in Week 4's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Spin: Benjamin had been listed as doubtful on the injury report after not practicing at all during the week. Expect Keenan Allen, Geremy Davis and Dontrelle Inman to receive more targets as a result of Benjamin's absence.

Los Angeles Chargers PK Mike Badgley (groin), TE Virgil Green (groin), TE Hunter Henry (knee), WR Mike Williams and RB Justin Jackson (calf) did not practice Friday, Sept. 27, and have been ruled out for Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins. WR Travis Benjamin (hip) did not practice for a third straight day and is listed as doubtful. CB Casey Hayward (back) and LB Drue Tranquill (ankle) returned to a limited practice Friday and are listed as questionable. CB Michael Davis (hamstring), LB Denzel Perryman (ankle) and C Mike Pouncey (not injury related) fully participated in practice and have been removed from the injury report.

From TheHuddle

Sep 27 3:00pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin (hip) is listed as doubtful to play in Week 4 against the Dolphins. It's disappointing for anyone who picked up Benjamin hoping that he'd be the No. 2 receiver with Mike Williams (back) hurting in an excellent matchup. But both Williams and Benjamin will be out, leaving Dontrelle Inman and Geremy Davis in three-receiver sets alongside Keenan Allen. The Bolts will likely lean heavily on Allen and running back Austin Ekeler in a game they could still win easily, but Inman becomes intriguing as a deep league and DFS sleeper now.

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said that wide receiver Travis Benjamin (quadriceps) is dealing with an injury that will put his availability for Week 4 against the Dolphins in question. Tight end Virgil Green (groin) is day-to-day after injuring himself in the Week 3 loss to the Texans. Benjamin caught two of five targets for just five yards on Sunday, while Green failed to catch his only target. Neither player is worth a roster spot in fantasy leagues, even heading into an excellent matchup this weekend against the flailing Dolphins. Receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams will continue to soak up most of the targets in the passing game, as well as running back Austin Ekeler.

Los Angeles Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (quadriceps) is considered questionable for Week 4 because of a quadriceps injury.

From TheHuddle

Sep 23 2:10am ET

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin had a step on two defenders with two minutes left and the team trailing by seven points, but he couldn't hold on to the throw that hit him in both hands. Quarterback Philip Rivers had laid it out in the perfect spot where only Benjamin could reach it, but it was gone in an instant as it started to slip out of his hands and a slap on the elbow from a Texans defender ensured it couldn't be snagged. Instead, Benjamin finished with just two catches for five yards, and the Chargers fell to 1-2 on the season.

From RotoBaller

Sep 14 3:40pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin may be the lucky recipient of some more chances on the field after the team lost tight end Hunter Henry and possibly wide receiver Mike Williams to knee injuries. Though Benjamin is officially the team's No. 3 wide receiver, he's pretty far down the option list on most plays since LA's offense is so stacked. A couple of injuries may be just the ticket for him to see more opportunities than the measly three he saw last week. He's still a home run play because the Chargers offense is deep beyond belief, but he's at least a better one now than he normally is.

From RotoBaller

Aug 17 12:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin has bumped up in the depth chart this season with the departure of Tyrell Williams, and he's now taken on the role of big brother. Since Benjamin is the team's longest-tenured receiver, though he's only been with LA since 2016, he's apparently become a source of wisdom and advice for the younger generation. He told reporters this week that he's made a point of trying to ensure he's showing the younger guys the right way to do things, and the coaches have been sending guys to him for help when they ask questions. Benjamin should be the team's primary deep threat this season, and with Keenan Allen hobbled by an ankle injury, he may have a big start to the year.
