Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill posted an NFL-best passer rating of 154.2 on throws over the middle of the field in 2019, according to Inside Edge NFL.
Although Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill didn't play a full season in 2019, NFL.com's Nick Shook has him ranked No. 1 on the list of the top-10 QBs under pressure last season. The former first-round pick had the only passer rating above 110 in the league while being pressured in the pocket among those with a minimum of 250 total pass attempts. Tannehill also did so while targeting receivers in tight windows on 23.9 percent of such attempts. He became the only qualified passer to average 10-plus yards per attempt under pressure in a season since 2016. It all helped Tannehill become the NFL Comeback Player of the Year while leading his team to the AFC Championship. Tannehill has been efficient as a passer, but the problem is that the Titans don't throw the rock enough to make him anything more than a passable fantasy backup.
Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill completed 96 of his 138 pass attempts for 1,356 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions on three-step drops in 2019. Those marks allowed him to post a league-best 123.9 passer rating on three-step drops.
Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill led all qualified passers in 2019 with a completion percentage over expected of plus-8.0 percent, according to Next Gen Stats. The stat measures the difference between a QB's actual completion percentage and expected completion percentage based on the level of difficulty of their throws.
Fantasy Spin: The Titans took note and signed Tannehill to a four-year, $118 million extension this offseason. He'll enter the 2020 season as a low-end QB1 after his 2019 breakout.
Tennessee Titans TE Jonnu Smith said he has been working out with QB Ryan Tannehill at a local park over the last few weeks so they can improve their chemistry.
Fantasy Spin: Smith will be taking over the starting tight end job with Delanie Walker no longer on the team. He posted a career-high 439 yards this past season and should be able to improve his numbers in 2020. He can be considered at least a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.
Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill saw his receivers pick up more than 20 yards after the catch on a league-high 4.9 percent of his passes in 2019.
Fantasy Spin: It's not a big surprise considering Tannehill benefited from at least one play of 40-plus yards in each of his last seven regular-season games. Much of the credit for all those big plays was A.J. Brown, who averaged 8.9 yards after the catch as a rookie - the best mark of any qualified receiver. While Brown should be expected to remain a run-after-catch machine, Tannehill is highly unlikely to be so fortunate again this season with big plays. Consider him a solid fantasy QB2.
With the 224th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans drafted Hawaii quarterback Cole McDonald. The Titans were always a candidate to add a quarterback this offseason, as the only backup on the roster behind Ryan Tannehill is Logan Woodside. McDonald threw for 4,135 yards and 33 touchdowns as a junior before declaring early for the draft, but his 14 interceptions are worrisome. Still, the battle for the No. 2 role here is wide open, and McDonald has the arm strength and athleticism to stick with the Titans.
The Tennessee Titans are re-signing offensive tackle Dennis Kelly to a three-year, $21 million deal on Monday, according to a source. The deal will include $8.75 million in guarantees. With Jack Conklin signing with the Browns on Monday, Kelly will have a chance to take over the starting right tackle job in 2020 and beyond. The 30-year-old out of Purdue has spent the last four seasons with the Titans, but he hasn't started more than six games in any single season with them. That should change moving forward. The move from Conklin to Kelly will be a downgrade for both quarterback Ryan Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry.
The Tennessee Titans and quarterback Ryan Tannehill agreed to a four-year, $118 million contract on Sunday, according to a source. The deal averages $29.5 million per season with $62 million fully guaranteed and $91 million total in guarantees. The former eighth overall pick with the Dolphins in 2012 failed to live up to expectations in his seven seasons in Miami, but he took over as the Titans starter in 2019 and led the team to an AFC Championship appearance. They'll hope he can continue to play well when he threw for 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in 12 games last year, but Tannehill will struggle for QB1 upside in Tennessee's run-first offense. This likely means that running back Derrick Henry receives the franchise tag now, while the Titans are out as a destination for Tom Brady.
Tennessee Titans impending free-agent QB Ryan Tannehill agreed to terms on a new contract with the Titans Sunday, March 15, according to sources. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Fantasy Spin: Tannehill took over the starting job during the season and finished with 2,742 passing yards and 22 touchdowns. He will have a solid group of pass catchers to work with next season and could be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in some leagues.
Tennessee Titans impending free-agent QB Ryan Tannehill is close to a new long-term contract with the Titans, according to sources.
Fantasy Spin: Tannehill was outstanding after taking over the starting quarterback job and will have most of his targets in the passing game back next season. He has a chance to be a No. 1 quarterback in some fantasy leagues next season.
New England Patriots impending free-agent QB Tom Brady is not receiving interest from the Tennessee Titans because they are trying to re-sign impending free-agent QB Ryan Tannehill, according to sources.
Fantasy Spin: Brady will receive interest from several teams if he hits the free-agent market and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues. Tannehill is coming off an outstanding 2019 season and has a chance to be a No. 1 quarterback in some fantasy leagues.
The Tennessee Titans are focused on signing impending free-agent quarterback Ryan Tannehill to a long-term contract extension. That would take the Titans out of the running for Tom Brady if he actually hits the open market next week. Tannehill flopped in his six seasons with Miami, but he came on in relief of Marcus Mariota in 2019 and led the team to the AFC Championship. In his 12 games played, Tannehill completed a career-high 70.3 percent of his passes for 2,742 yards, 22 touchdowns and only six interceptions for a QB rating of 117.5. However, he doesn't have a ton of fantasy upside in this run-first offense with running back Derrick Henry the funnel through which this offense flows.
Tennessee Titans impending free-agent QB Ryan Tannehill is the focus of the team heading toward free agency, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network Tuesday, March 10. The team would like to sign him to a long-term contract.
Fantasy Spin: Tannehill was fantastic after replacing Marcus Mariota under center, but he was definitely helped along by the presence of RB Derrick Henry. The Titans would need to re-sign both players for Tannehill to carry similar fantasy appeal heading into 2020, but he could be a nice bargain as a low-end QB1.
Tennessee Titans impending free-agent QB Ryan Tannehill has talked with the Titans about a new contract.
Fantasy Spin: Tannehill played very well this past season, but it is not known if he will return to the Titans in 2020. He likely will be a starting quarterback for a team next season, but his fantasy value is uncertain at this point.
Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill, a pending free agent, is still very much in the Titans' re-signing plans, and according to one report out of Boston, the team is using its purported interest in free-agent QB Tom Brady as leverage to lock in Tannehill at a lower cost.
Fantasy Spin: Tannehill is coming off one of the more surprising reversals of real-life and fantasy fortune we've seen in a while, and he's also 12 years younger than Brady at 31, so don't be surprised if he winds up signing a new deal in the Music City, Brady leverage or not.
Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill, a pending free agent, has has dropped agent Patrick Dye in favor of Brian Aryault and Todd France, according to sources.
Fantasy Spin: Interesting move as Aryault and France work at CAA with Jimmy Sexton, who also represents Titans pending free agent Derrick Henry, and Aryault also is the agent of Titans general manager Jon Robinson. If all works out and Tannehill returns to the Titans, he'll be in the fantasy QB1 conversation.
Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill was named the 2019 Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year Saturday, Feb. 1.
Fantasy Spin: Tannehill led the NFL with a 117.5 quarterback rating while throwing for 2,742 yards and 22 touchdowns against just six interceptions in the regular season. While it's unsure whether he'll return to the Titans in 2020, he's back on the fantasy radar and will be a low-end QB1 so long as he has a starting gig somewhere.
The Tennessee Titans front office has yet to decide on quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who will become an unrestricted free agent in March, according to sources. The 31-year-old took over for Marcus Mariota and led the team to an AFC Championship appearance against the Chiefs. But the Titans aren't sure if he is worth the price of a long-term deal or even the franchise tag, especially with running back Derrick Henry set to be a free agent as well. Tannehill completed a career-high 70.3 percent of his passes for 2,742 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in 12 games. It was nice to see him bounce back after rough years in Miami, but he's mostly a game manager in a run-first offense if he stays in Tennessee, which makes him mostly a low-ceiling QB2 in fantasy.
Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill completed 21-of-31 passes for 209 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the AFC Championship Game loss Sunday, Jan. 19 against the Kansas City Chiefs. RB Derrick Henry was held mostly in check, running 19 times for 69 yards and a score, while WR Corey Davis led the team with five grabs for 65 yards and eight targets. WR A.J. Brown posted three grabs for 51 yards, and TE Jonnu Smith factored in with three catches and 38 yards. WR Adam Humphries also contributed with four receptions for 25 yards, while TE Anthony Firkser found the end zone for a 22-yard touchdown on his only grab.
