Sims missed about half the season with a concussion but got his only receptions in Week 1. He had two receptions for nine yards in Week 1. He played just eight games. Sims had 17 receptions the past two seasons with the Bears. His career high in receptions is 26 and he has never eclipsed 300 yards in a season. Sims should serve as a No. 2 or 3 tight end again this year. Sims is a top blocking tight end, which will get him on the field. Sims is a huge tight end that is a solid blocker and big target in the passing game. He isn't a big-play threat but a good safety valve and move the chains type-receiver.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Sims is best used as a blocker, so don't expect much fantasy wise. He might get around 10 receptions for 100 yards with a score.
Chicago Bears TE Dion Sims was officially released Thursday, Feb. 21.
The Chicago Bears are expected to release tight end Dion Sims, according to a source. He was due $6 million in 2019, so he'll become a salary cap casualty. The 28-year-old played in just 22 games in his two years in Chicago and caught only 17 passes for 189 yards and one touchdown over that span. Sims is mainly a blocking tight end and won't have a huge market for his services this offseason.
